In a cubs fan and let me just say, if you land Nico, you’ll be much better for it. He’s fundamentally perfect and the gold glove defense is real. He will never have a bad thing to say about anybody anywhere and is a huge plus in the clubhouse. I’d be very sad to see him go but Nico is very underrated.
Unfortunately..... I think Julio is who you described. Great defender. Extremely streaky hitter who put up good #'s last couple of years. Right now he is the most painful at bat 2watch on this team! Way 2many Swing & miss @anything (inside or outside) off the plate. Absolutely no plate discipline! We're screwed cuz unless a miracle of all miracles takes place.... Julio's approach will not change!! If he were a SS like Trout, Grif, Gwynn, Bonds.... we might have a chance!! Don't hold ur breath
When he gets to age 29 and is still producing like this. The thing about Julio is that he's had a bunch of Superstar moments and/or stretches, where you can see that the talent is more than what the numbers say. And he's so young that he's got at least another year or two to figure out how to put those all together and make it more than a moment, more than a streak, over the course of a full season. He's 23 years old so he won't hit his prime for another year, in my opinion. He's still maturing and the league has found a different way to attack him each season so far. First year was hard off the plate, out, before he figured that out. Then soft off. Then soft in, (which to me is his favorite to rake against). Now they've worked hard off the plate, in. Once he starts to cover that, there's nowhere else to go.
I am not going to panic with Julio and say he sucks...he doesn't. This might be a down year for him and we will bounce back next year. It will suck because this is the year that we NEED him to be him.
I know people will blame Jerry and Justen but at the end of the day they got players who have a history of being good hitters our at least shown they can be good hitters it’s not their fault they don’t hit it’s the players themselves
There have been too many players who have forgotten to hit when they came to Seattle. One or two yes, but Winker, LaStella, Wong, Pollock, Haniger and on and on. The Garver signing is especially intriguing. We didn't re-sign Tom Murphy because although he could hit he was always injured. Instead we dign Garver, a catcher who has a reputation of always being hurt to replace him. Didn't work out so good yesterday.
Saying the mariners have the 2nd best farm system after Baltimore is wild… preseason was a little while ago but you can’t find a list with them even in the top 10…
They should do nothing externally!!!! Better odds going with prospects. Maybe not the case for every other org but JD and company need to stop trading if they are not going for the elite.
I wonder if there's a conversation around Hoerner, if there's also potentially mention of someone like Taillon who is also under contract for a couple more years and would be a great #4 pitcher with #3 upside if the concern around Woo grows at all.
Agreed, Colby Michael Arroyo is really starting to pop off. I would love to see the M's hold on to him. Do you think he has a chance of sticking in the Org? If so, where would he play with Emerson being the likely 3rd baseman and young at 2nd? Left?
That question about foregoing offense and adding pitching is one of the stupidest comments ever and I agree 💯 with you guys. Bro, did you not watch the microcosm of our offense in our only home playoff game where we scored 0 runs in 18 innings? Get a clue.
The funny thing is this team has already repeatedly doubled down on pinching and neglected the offense ya can't quadruple down on pitching and have below average offense
@@Coco-cz2dz i mean, i would be pretty happy with that if JP, Julio, Mitch, and Polanco weren't complete ass. We would have to add a whole superstar level talent and like 1.5 allstar level talents AND a regular bat just to get what we're supposed to be getting out of them :( even the Dodger or Yankees wouldn't do that during a season.
