Unpopular opinion: no color is ugly in the right context. All those shades of brown or gray or green or ‘washed out’ have been used, and still can! Be used for setting moods for paintings. All color is relative and is beautiful if you know where to use it
Agreed, it's only iffy when the colors don't match but I think brown and green can go great together, I've also seen people manage to make dark green match with a pastel pink somehow and it's really cool
I've seen this take and someone tried to argue with 'dull mustard yellow' and had their point decimated with the most gorgeous painting of a swamp I've ever seen 😂

everybody's talking about blue and red making green, but my question is how the actual fuck did they manage to get a nude colour from NEON GREEN AND MAGENTA
Times like these make me remember that shrimp can see more colors than us and that most hues of brown/gray are probs those colors and it makes me wish I was a shrimp so I can see what green and pink mixed actually look like.
I think it’s more like understanding what tone the color leans towards so you can balance the amount of contrasting color you’re adding. Like, the red and the blue. Because the red was a very orangey red and very warm when added to the blue (blue contrasts with orange) it forms a rather dark and dull color that leans more towards green. It’s more about understanding the bleed between hues and knowing how that will color will interact with another. That being said I do think cooler colors and warmer colors mix nicer with themselves than each other, harder to go wrong
For all y’all wondering why blue and red made green, it’s because they used warm variants of those two colors. A cool toned red and a cool toned blue make very pretty purples, but warm toned reds and warm toned blues make very strange colors.
This one I might actually know the answer to. Depending on the color wheel, either purple or red are the opposite of green. That pinkish color is within that color zone anyways. When opposite colors are pulled towards each other, they lose saturation. So my theory is that there was either slightly more of the reddish hue added, or that particular hue just pulls the colors slightly more to the warmer side, but the saturation was greatly decreased.

Any color can look pretty or ugly, it entirely depends on the context in which it's used, as well as lighting, perception, how well you understand colors as whole, and whether or not you're an artist. I love thinking about stuff like this, it's fun :D
Every single color in this world is pretty if you use them in the right way. We all don't like certaincolors, but it's necessary to have them because if we don't, we won't find other colors as beautiful. It is rightly said that beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder.

For anyone wondering why red and blue is makin green i think it just looks red but that red is probably actually orange, thats why it made that rich earthy evergreen color. Orange is easilly affected by its bg and how much light you throw on it and can also turn into a lot of colors from sienna to pale purples, It'd look more orange in a darker lighting and bg but it looks rlly vibrant. Contrasting colors mixed or all primarys mixed usually makes brown tho! That's what surprised me
Color is reliant on context. On a white background you can’t determine whether a color is “pretty” or “ugly” because no color on its own is either. In short it’s all down to personal preference.
@@SwoleTommyPickles right, but that doesn’t make the color objectively pretty or objectively ugly. A color that may look fine on its own to one person may look gross to another.
For those wondering why the red and blue didnt make purple: To make a true purple, you would need cool-toned reds and blues, otherwise it will make a greenish or browned colour. The red they used was most likely Vermillion, an orangey red, and due to the orange (a warm colour) it made the end result a muddy colour.
