To satisfy the Xtool fans who wonder if the D8BT will work with a cord I connect a cord to the D8BT to see if it will work. Xtool D8BT Scan Tool 2023 amzn.to/3Mv7yXS Xtool D8 Scan Tool 2023 Use Discount Code XTOOLD8CODE3 amzn.to/35AJZwb
Thanks for trying! I got a 30+ ft long cable for my D8 that is supposed to arrive monday. I also got a duel obd2 plug in for my blue driver dongle. I have frequently run graphs with blue driver on my Fire 10 in tablet. I wanted to be able to have both of them on at the same time if I want. Thanks again for your input.
I was happy before.. But now with the topology and graphing upgrades- It's really been much better than I ever expected to get out of it. and it's so good with making keys too. I don't think there is any other option in this price range that has topology.
Bought the XTool D8s (newer version of D8) corded, because it charges while connected to OBDII on each car, BT discharges, then you need to find an AC outlet to start charging, when we are broken on the highway, or on a farm or at the track, you will be in trouble... Also to run diagnostics on car lots, if you buy many used cars like we do...good luck, great devices...
Yes that is one benefit of having the D8. I had the D8 before I had the D8BT and I never had to plug my D8 in to charge because I used it enough to always keep it topped off from the OBD port. But the battery in my D8BT last so long that I have never had it die on me when I need it. I personally would not give up my BT because it is very nice to be able to take it out under the hood when I need too.
I originally bought both because I wasn't sure which version I would prefer. I also thought the D8BT could use the cord but was sadly disappointed. I returned the corded version because the cord just got in the way, I also have an extension cord. Having to charge the BT version is an extra step but I have no regrets with my decision.
I initially bought the D8 and when the BT came out I asked xtool what I needed to do to get a BT and they worked out a deal where I paid the difference and they would send me the BT and I could return the D8 to them.
You can order a 10ft extension so that it will still reach basically anywhere on the car if you need it. It's just a simple VGA plug I believe. Edit: Oh, I guess you already have one. :)
What year is your D8? Is it a 2022 or 2023? I am NOT disputing what you're saying in your video but how much sense does that make for XTool to incorporate the OBD-2 INPUT on the unit and it NOT be able to communicate with the vehicle as an alternative to BT? Why even put the INPUT connection there if that's the case? SMH.
Mine is a 2022 model and I can't answer as far as what sense any of it makes but I can answer to the fact that xtool themselves emailed me and told me that it would not work but I still didn't believe them so once I had the cord I checked to see and you see the video.
I think it's still the same hardware. It's just that the D8bt software is different. But if you downloaded the D8 software, I bet it would still be able to use the plug; the software is just so different. For example, the new "topology" upgrade came out on the D8, but then it didn't come out on the D8bt for several weeks later. Because it's not the same software, and they had to get all the bugs out of it. So that's pretty interesting.
I am sure it is because the main hardware is the same as the D8 but the D8 and D8BT use different base software the D8BT APP software isn't written to use the Serial port.
I do not recommend buying it at all. XTool D8 fails to correct the mileage for most modern Korean, Japanese, American and European chines vehicles also!!
That's a lot of mileage correction. I have only had to correct mileage on 3 different makes and models and it worked great. Now keep in mind this is NOT a dedicated mileage correction tool, in fact as far as I know it is the ONLY scan tool that offers that ability. My Snap-On Verus, Autel, and Launch will not correct the mileage on anything. It sounds like you need a dedicated mileage correction tool, NOT a diagnostic scan tool. It also sounds like you might be doing something illegal.
