Too sweet is usually what women say when we don't want to say boring or think the guy wouldn't be able to make her feel safe. Why does it have to either get with someone you're not feeling or you deserve to be mistreated? She, like every other person, should get what she actually wants. That doesn't have to mean a bad guy but someone she likes. I think we get wrapped up in the idea that just because a man likes us we're wrong for not liking them back.

I’ve told guys I didn’t like that they were too sweet. But it’s not because I’m into bad boys. Too sweet just means they’re not exciting. They’re not the type to keep you on your toes and make you fall or swoon for them. You can tell they like you a lot and so it takes the chase away. The initial chase you crave in order for attraction to grow. Sometimes a chase is not necessary if he’s already physically attractive to you and you vibe well. But if you don’t find a guy attractive and he’s super into you, it’s going to be hard for any woman to fall for a guy like that.

So one of my friends posted that she need a tatted up, bad boy with a job and her friend said "no you need a guy in a suit and a career". I was always "the good guy" then I met my wife who wanted a good guy. 20 yrs of marriage, I guess the good guy won. I got angry when she said that to him about being a good guy.

I have been historically a nice guy, but have been taken advantage of - not so much in romantic relationships - as in a couple church situations where people think they can get away with treating other people poorly and unethically because they are "leaders". That's made me a bit of a "bad boy" but I'm my own kind. There's a few people who would love to stigmatize me as a "bad boy" because I stood up to them, but most know me as a nice guy. So I think that made me a nice guy with an attitude. Like look out if you mess with my family etc. If someone did try to take advantage of my niceness I would just politely bail out before things got really heated. I had been a "nice guy" for too long - bottling crap up and then letting it explode. No more. People will know where they stand with me, and that I am a genuine soul who cares a lot about people and a good listener. Sure, I can still get pissed off but since it's no longer bottled up it's not off the chain. Guys struggle a lot with emotional crap and what to do with it. I think that's what makes bad boys. We're a lot more vulnerable than you think. I also think I have a bit of a gut (not a lot - need to lose about 25 lbs) and I think that's fair for a woman to want a guy who looks fit. Completely. Women are great. God made 'em, God loves 'em and I would treat one accordingly.
