Will this 1966 shortbed Chevy C10, last licensed in 79, run and drive again?

We’ve got a beauty this week, and although this farm truck is beat up, this 1966 Chevrolet c10 has very little rust, and these trucks are getting harder to find. This one has quite the contraption in the back! Lets see what we can do with this truck!

Hey rust wrangle! I saw you video with the old d 100. My dad has a old 72 that he is restoring right now and cannot find a tailgate that match his truck. This might be an annoyance but if there’s a chance you would listen to an offer the one on the orange truck it would truly make for a awesome Christmas present. Please rely to me if you would be willing to listen to an offer. Thanks

It’s my brothers truck, I’ll ask him if he’s interested in selling the tailgate.

sounds like that farmer wants it more for the boom then the truck. buy him a newer runner , and put the boom in it . farmer gets his boom YOU get the truck !!

Cant believe how well that thing runs. Other than the fact that the body is beat up it is super solid as far as rust goes. I'm guessing it is the 250 cu in engine, they are pretty reliable. I've got a 65 C10 with the 230 and did significant machine work to the heads, bored it out and hung a set of headers and a 4 bbl Offy intake on it. Cool old truck.

Looks a lot like my 1960 GMC. Mine was parked in the desert for 37 years, has the 305 V6. Very surprised the doglegs on the fenders are rust free. Good truck.

The only 65/66 worth having is the GMC. Most of these trucks 60-66 are ugly. Especially the farm trucks. Ask any hot woman. Take a poll. I dare you. Lol.

You can tell that engine is out of a newer truck. Wrong breather, rubber oil fill cap on the valve cover, the chain hook bracket mounted to the head, and the hose coming from the breather to the side of the valve cover. Not judging the truck. Just pointing out that engine is probably not the original most likely. Good find. Very workable. Could be a 250 straight six?

It almost looks like the boom is mounted on some sort of turn table, but I can’t really tell for sure. Any thoughts on the setup.
@Rustwrangler
@Rustwrangler 5 месяцев назад
It is mounted on a turntable, it’s pretty neat, it’s actually a big gear and there’s a wheel on the side that you turn by hand to get it to swivel. The farmer said he used it back in the day to stack hay. Now they just use a jcb forklift.

I would like to know ,Who started, this, Patina crap, A 66 Chevy Is a Nice truck a deserves a True Paint job, to me Leaving a old truck looking old is , is so stupid, And take that hay sling off the back and junk it, or sell it. There's no rust, every dent on the Truck can be fixed,That truck is loved by a lot of people, Great body stlye, Put a nice LS motor, it will run like a new truck, and be dependable.
@ironcladranchandforge7292
@ironcladranchandforge7292 9 месяцев назад
Not to be rude, but if I owned that truck I wouldn't sell it to you either because I know what you would do to it. You would probably swap in an LS then slam the truck to the ground. I denied selling a 1960 Chevy pickup to a guy once who wanted to do the same thing. I told him NO WAY would I sell a great old truck to someone who's just going to tear it up and ruin it's originality.
@Rustwrangler
@Rustwrangler 9 месяцев назад
I can see how you might think that, but I already have a bagged/Ls swapped c10, so I’d most likely try to bring this one back to its original glory.
@ironcladranchandforge7292
@ironcladranchandforge7292 9 месяцев назад
@@Rustwrangler -- I know you have a bagged/LS swapped truck, I've watched your videos and that was the premise of my original comment. These trucks are getting harder to find, especially in stock form and one of many reasons is because you guys are buying them up and destroying them. I'll never sell my '60 Chevy, which is restored and stock. When I'm gone it's going to my son or grandkids, and they've already promised to keep it stock.
