Sitting for 46 years! Will this Falcon Run and Drive again?

This 1964 ford falcon station wagon is a diamond in the rough! Was left sitting in a field for 46 years with the spark plugs removed. Follow along to see if it will run and drive again, and be able to hit the road again after being forgotten for that long.

In all my years as a Technician, I have never seen any rodents in the cylinders! I have found them in carbs, intake manifolds, and exhausts! Great video Rust Rangler, you have come a long way since you started. That Falcon will make a great project or daily driver when cleaned up and a few floors patched up! I had a '61 Futura Coupe with a 144, bucket seats and console in Hawaii in '77 when stationed and took back to the mainland later that year when moved back. Fun car to drive.

I appreciate the kind words Robert. I couldn’t believe how well that motor ran after it fired up, because I had my doubts on if I was going to be able to pull those mice out without pulling the heads. And I can’t remember if you mentioned before that you were stationed in Hawaii, but thank you for your service sir!

I had to subscribe. Anyone who can do a "will it run" and a DIY cremation all in one video is aces in my book. And on one of my favorite cars to boot.

Haha, the cremation didn’t go quite as well as I’d hoped. Thanks for the sub.

Hey man not trying to be a know it all Charlie but having been a mechanic for over 60 years and also worked in a couple of Ford dealerships the next time you get a stuck motor like the one you just worked on do your self a favor and pull the valve cover to make sure that you dont have any valves that are stuck closed otherwise you might end up with some bent push rods!! You got lucky there with that one for sure but nice job getting it running though and I have seen mice crawl up through the exhaust system and build there nests inside the cylinders before!
@Rustwrangler
@Rustwrangler 6 дней назад
Definitely, I probably should have pulled the valve cover, but I was trying my best to not have to. Thankfully it all worked out!

In my humble opinion. The fuel lines have an unsealed area. There's a place where it;s not totally sealed so it's sucking partial air when the pump is trying to pull fuel. I'd say it's where the fuel was dripping.......Oh you just said it in the video as I'm commenting. LOL. Funny!
@Rustwrangler
@Rustwrangler 12 дней назад
Haha, yes, that is exactly what was going on with the fuel issue.

FYI next time try diesel fuel down the cylinders replace the oil with diesel fuel and also you can clean the outside of the motor with diesel fuel

this car should have a plate under the carburator that warm water run all time...thru and in to the heater element...you only change airflow between or through the heater element. if you want heat or cool air to the inside of the car. There should be a gasolinefilter in metal that is sitting by nuts but 2 diferent dimension front -end...directly to the pump and from the tank.
@Rustwrangler

My question how did you fix those gas leaks in the tank and the one up front?
@Rustwrangler
@Rustwrangler 15 дней назад
The leak by the tank I fixed by replacing the filler hose. And the leak up front I fixed by replacing the little rubber line, and making sure the hose clamps were tight and in the right position.
