Man Jason, that 235 is a beauty, so glad you rescued her, she flies like a rocket. Another awesome episode, thankfully you didn't have to use the grass brakes to stop. Can't wait until next week.
Best thing you could possibly do for that bird is a constant speed prop. I had a 235 with one and it was a great machine! With the engine work you did you would find the performance outstanding!
Can’t hardly wait to see more work on the free abandon 401 Love to see more on it ! So the completion date will come sooner I’m itching for y’all to get this done it’s a beautiful plane !!! 👍😊
I don't know anything about aviation, but in one shot of the plane. It looked like the right wheel boot was shaking quite a bit. That could be the vibration. Enjoy the show. Good stuff!
This looks fantastic Jason. Congratulations for all your hard work and belief in what you do. It was a just great to see how much you enjoyed flying the Piper 235 again. I love it. I'm in the UK and a Spitfire flew over this morning! What a great day! All the best man.
Nice job on the 235. I'm surprised you didn't install an engine monitoring system and a constant speed prop with all the performance you added with the new engine. The next owner will love it.
1000 feet return to the runway? You don’t know if that is possible until you practice it with a CFI. Every airplane has an altitude where it might make it back and below that you won’t. What is that altitude, you need to determine it. Brian Schiff has a procedure for determine optimum turn back altitude and AOPA Air Safety Foundation did a video on the “Impossible Turn.”. Their take away, depends on the airplane, the environment on that day, and the pilot on that day. I do an FAASafety Seminar on the Impossible Turn and I highly encourage you to practice this with a CFI. Your brief and mind set should be When the engine quiets, not If the engine quiets.
Great to see the plane in the air! But before you get all happy about repitching that prop fast forward to a nice south eastern PA hot and humid July afternoon with full tanks and nearing that useful load. You might be grateful you have the prop you do. Sure, in the nice cool late fall/early winter air it climbs like a homesick angel but not in hot humid air you can wear. Great channel!
Good morning! Another saturday surprise has arrived! I feel bad being unable to watch the video today 😭 Can't wait to get home tomorrow morning and watch it! Have an Amazing and restful weekend everyone! ❤️🫶🏼
Nice to see the plane flying again. Greg did amazing flying... everyone else tho may keep the cockpit a little more sterile during taxi, take off and landing.
The 235 is back in the sky!! It's overhauled, climbing and cruising fast! Congratulations for completing the Rebuild and Rescue of it! All the labor, hard work, and dedication are paying off! Keep up the Great work, and have an Amazing and Successful week ahead! (If I was Jason, I would've had the same dilemma whether to sell it or not. 😂👍🏼)
Hi Jason, love your videos, try to watch them every Saturday. It would be nice if you could mention how the 401 is coming along. Just a minute or so. Thanks
Love to see her back in the air. The first video I say do you guys was getting the 401 I’ve since watched every video. This channel it what made me want to become a pilot I now am working on my ppl and eventually I will go to Embry riddle. Thank you so much for all that y’all do. This channel has helped me learn so much.
It was great getting her back in the air! That's amazing to hear with your PPL! Thank you for being apart of the Rescue Crew and believing in all our crazy adventures, we wouldn't be here without you!
I’m pleased to see you back in the air. All I could see remaining is to color match the front wheel pant. What a beautiful example. You guys did a good job. Anyone who wants to buy the plane has the advantage of watching the work done on it.
Hi Jason. The last seconds of the video were hilarious; you, speaking to Ch235 as a friend (witch in most cases is), and feeling sorrow for letting her go, is simply touching. I´d like to asume most of the restorations of the 401.5 (401 + 402 / 2) are booring, however, for those who subscribed more than 2 years ago BECAUSE of the 401 Sam gave you, are (at least I am) curious about the progress, therefor a near update will be highly appretate. BTW: the cherokee looks amazing and the upgrade made her better than she was before. Well done to all the crew who put their hands on deck! I wish you well. As always, cheers from NE Patagonia, Argentina. Side note: I recomend you and your GF to visit my country once the main projects are done as a reward for your hard work. The food is incredibly good as well as the diferent landscapes to see. Did you know we have one of the most beautifull watterfalls on the planet?
Happy Saturday y’all! It may be cold, windy and snowy where we are but hey, it’s nice to sit by the heat and tune in to some Rebuild Rescue. Thanks for another great one!
Nice work Jason, I did notice in your video of both takeoffs you have a shimmy in the right main gear early in the takeoff roll, you might want to have a look at the torque link bushes etc.👍
great video. great plane, you guys fixed her to the 9s. great plane for someone wanting one. Jason im surprised you dont keep her for your daily flyer. thanks for the video i really enjoyed it. Larry
yeah I don't think the 401 is ever going to be finished. notice that now they release one 401 video a month with most of the episode is jason rambling, and lunch breaks. barely anything is done to the 401. I think they're gonna milk that thing for ages..
I'm sure they are still doing things but yeah, any video we do get now included very little actual progress. Seems like too busy buying and selling other planes to make money.@@quaiacka
Always a surprise on a Saturday morning. So happy to see that one get back in the air. Hope my RR fam has an awesome weekend! Can’t wait til the next one.
Jason, never push or pull on a prop. There are some aircraft that can be damaged easily (E series Bonanza) but any prop can bend and be out of track with excessive force. Just not a good idea. Since we are all creatures of habit it’s best just not to ever touch it while maneuvering the aircraft.
Joe pulled it out by the prop. I was taught, ALWAYS treat a propellor as live. The was a man at my training establishment that had no face, it was just a flat surface. He didn’t treat a Hawker Hurricane prop as live.
Far out, this thing hammers and it's fixed everything. Just so you can feel really happy, for reference I flew a 200hp PARO (Piper Arrow) which had a CSU and retractable undercarriage that only cruised at 135KIAS @2500rpm and 24-25" manifold pressure at 4500 or 5000' that MIGHT climb at 1200fpm. Funny thing was on a good day you could sometimes get 140-145KIAS at only 22" but that's the constant speed prop advantage I suppose, however for planning it was 135kts. True it was only 4 cylinder, though they do have a fairly high wing loading and get along at a reasonable speed for what they are. Was a great plane in turbulence that Arrow though. It would really punch through with ease.
I was seriously injured in line of duty in England. Went through a rough time, & yet my neighbours bengal cat who is very shy came over & was with me until I got a little better. The cat saved me
That is a cat for you. Aloof but I think they can read are Aura and come to give comfort and even healing. God bless you with Love, Light and Laughter.
Hello I dont know if you have God in your life and I do not want to offend you if you do not but if you do God does send Angel's in the strangest form to pull you thought Bless you form the UK
Thank you for your service brother, I too was injured and was gifted a dog by the Marine Corps League who literally saved my life. Buddy was with me for a long time, helping me learn to walk again and forgive myself for those brothers that I felt guilt for that they did not make it home, when I did. Those who’ve served, know the experience and why one would feel this way. Buddy would sit in front of my wheelchair and bark like crazy until I’d get up and take a real tough lap around the house and he’d do silly things to make me laugh, when I was feeling down, or feeling sorry for myself. God I loved my Buddy, he was my best friend for a long time…. Sadly, he passed away. Our animals become a great part of our family, and most of all they love us unconditionally.
Hey Jason, the first landing you performed with the rebuilt 235 was a lot better than the landing before it. That being said the landing you did when you crashed was great because you were able to walk away from the aircraft and then rebuild it. Anyway great video. I love airplanes. I just don’t get to spend any time with them.
Interesting repair rescue. Enjoyed the show. I'm with the Argentinian below who would also appreciate status reports on the 401's progress even if it's waiting for parts or whatever. No complaints though! Interesting and enjoyable episode. Thanks for sharing.
What is this? Not one but two projects finished? Guess that proves the doubters wrong. You can finish a project. Lol. Just kidding. Great to see her flying again. Anxiously awaiting more 401 content.
Awesome to see the plane in the air again Question from someone whose sole source of aviation knowledge is this channel: what does the crank in the roof do? I see you guys turn it every now and then during flight
Porting & polishing should be part of any overhaul imho. Combine that with a tuned Powerflow exhaust for max power boost. I thought the Cherokee 235 had a constant speed prop? It was the predecessor to the Dakota which had a cs prop.
There is something satisfying about a freshly built engine starting up for the first time. Souped up aircraft engine, Now that's awesome ! No wonder you had that sinister laugh at first firing !
@@rebuildrescue pilots are weird people and clearly you are weird like the rest of us. I want you to have that piece of plastic and to argue with friends over different FARS. Go get em.
Seriously, this is my favorite channel! Thank you for all you do! This channel is what inspired me to get my PPL. Your channel does so much for GA! Keep killing it! You're an integral part of my Saturday mornings :)
That's so awesome, thank you for sharing! Our favorite part of the channel is hearing from you guys! Keep us updated on your adventure as we keep you updated on ours!!
Bro I don’t know how you do it with that Greg guy. Talk about a buzz kill. Jason’s all excited and he’s straight up like Wednesday Addams with zero expression. I couldn’t
Hmm is it ok for that right wheel to vibrate this way during take off ? It happens on both take offs. Anyway it does look pretty, just like it came of the factory floor.
That is a gorgeous plane, about as badass as a Cherokee can be. I am training in Piper Warriors so I’m fond of the Cherokees. It’s great to see that plane flying again!
You showed a short clip of Kyle Franklin. Hes a friend of mine his dad Jimmy and jimmy's best friend. Tommy died in a very tragic airplane crash in moose jaw Canada. What a shame to talents that was just phenomenal and the Sun and prodigy Kyle is a very talented pilot.
