People are acting like Arizona State football killed people or something. I don't support what Herm Edwards did, but this really isn't that big of a deal and Arizona State football will be fine. I have seen some people say the Sun Devils should get the death penalty or that this is the end which i think is false and dumb. What do you think will happen to ASU?

Although I do agree with you, I don’t agree with what ASU did considering that the point of the extended dead period was put in place because of the pandemic, but it would be stupid to think that asu was the only team to do this last year. I don’t think anyone should be fired over this and in my eyes this is a very minor infraction considering what has happened at other schools over the years, but Herm should receive a suspension and ASU should have a bowl ban this year. It’s honestly kind of a joke that this story has stolen headlines in college football away from the bo schembechler Michigan story, much more serious story there if you ask me.

They may be stupid rules, but that doesn’t mean that you can brake them. No one ever wants to be accountable for anything in life anymore. The funny thing is, when most people brakes rules, they don’t flaunt it for everyone to see. It’s always done in secret. Then they get mad when they get caught.

Previous recruiting violations from other schools resulted in fines, coach suspensions, and recruiting restrictions. And that was for things like paying players, buying gifts, and reaching out to players before official recruiting activities were allowed. The only thing ASU really seemed to do was just have regular recruiting activities that would happen in those times normally, but were restricted due to Covid pandemic. I have absolutely no doubt that many other teams will be revealed to have done it, too. The thing is, the NCAA really looks at the impact violations have on the world of collegiate football. Was money exchanged? Did the team gain significant advantages from those violations? Did it affect how those players chose the school they would go do? The NCAA really looks at those to determine what the punishments are. With ASU, they did not have any of those factors. Not even affecting the player's decisions, since they were able to visit other schools once recruiting opened back up, and no player committed immediately after visiting ASU when they weren't supposed to. I think at worst, ASU will have coaches suspended from activites, some fines, recruiting restrictions. Nobody will be fired or forced to leave, but the team will struggle for a couple of years due to the cloud overhead and the restrictions.

This is all blown out of proportion! AZ State didn’t have players on the payroll like SEC and Big 12 teams do so not an issue and just a slap on the wrist. Also, for example the NCAA did nothing to the University of Arizona basketball program for paying their basketball players 100’s of thousands of dollars.

It was a horse shit rule. Herm Edwards by all accounts is a stand up guy. The rules shouldn't have been broken, of course, but it's hardly an indictment on the program and shouldn't be punished too harshly.

I mean I don’t know how many times I’ve seen a top recruit all of a sudden post pictures of stacks of cash or have a new car after signing yet nothing happen.

This could be a big opportunity for ASU. They have gotten the recruits they needed the last 2 years to create a strong core and those players are just now ready to compete week in and week out on a national stage. They bring in a coach who is really good with the x's and o's, and they could have a break out year like Arkansas did in 98. The real question is can they keep the momentum after that. The biggest problem with ASU and UA is that the state of Arizona doesnt produce enough blue chip players to maintain programs year after year.

I think if Edwards has fired the assistant head coach when he found out the guy was toxic, you take away scholarships and do the one year post season ban, and even save Edwards. But considering Edwards HAD to know about the unbelievably toxic environment being created around his program and not doing enough to snuff it out, he deserves to go too. I also refuse to believe the AD didn’t hear rumors and know something. So he has to go too. In high school, we had one of these toxic type coaches and it was whispered in the halls by even non-athletes. It wasn’t until parents of football players stormed the Principals office, that the school acted and fired the coach. Everybody knows, even if no one is saying anything. So Edwards and the AD knew. They gotta go.

Aren’t the players the ones that all of these coaches are supposed to protect? Everybody keeps saying that it was a COVID-19 dead period. That’s completely wrong. The dead period in recruiting happens every year. The COVID-19 part of this situation has to do with the fact nobody was supposed to be allowed on any campus. The PAC had already canceled their season in every sport. For everybody to say that this is nothing is ignorant. They violated actual NCAA rules not rules that were put into place because of the pandemic. The fact that ASU snuck over 30 recruits onto the school campus and secretly put them up in a hotel let’s you know what they were doing was a violation of the rules. The fact they did all of this after all sporting events had been canceled and all classes had been suspended and all of the other students were forced to take online classes made them think nobody will know this ever happened.

If the B12 doesn’t take Houston again the entire board of that conference needs to be sent to mental hospital or prison...... They literally used to play with the majority of teams in that bloody conference, and they’ve had more top ranked teams in the last 20 years than UCF. The problem is Texas runs that conference and college is a corrupt pos sport where teams openly create cartels to prevent other schools to compete in recruiting so all of sudden UH will never make the conference no matter how much sense it makes....

Funny that when Miami, Florida under Meyers tenor and Ohio State did way worse things. Including Miami literally paying players and they all 3 got a slap on the wrist. Few season post season bans and few less scholarships. Nothing major for the worst offenses. Now NCAA is looking to get their respect back and use ASU as an example?.. wtf! Gutless as always and its not and accident that Urban Meyers wnt to NFL to coach again. His track record of yes, winning but breaking every rule possible to win. All schools walk a fine line but Urban didnt care to look at the line. When he left Florida for “Health” reasons. Over 30 players of his had violations connected to them and his program. Then that 5 yrs at 1 school happened at OSU. Magically, Urban had health issues, yet again. Right as NCAA started digging into the 3rd program in a row of Meyers. Oh Meyers health is bad again, he retires and realizes that the NCAA has finally caught onto his games and may not give him 5 yrs till they show up from now on. So he goes to NFL next. Not saying he’s a bad coach but we will c how good he really is now that he can’t literally buy wins. NFL is setup to make all the teams competitive or setup to turn a team into a winner if done correctly in a year or two. How will Urban do on a level playing field? We will see soon. 😂
