Cool than enjoy your mantis, I'll pay the extra for one that is made for a Mathews bow and integrates seemlessly into the grip and not having to doubleside tape it to the riser@@darrennorris4868
I'd be shocked if mantis didn't develop shot sense because its a clone of mantis x8. I picked up the mantis x8 from nock-on over black Friday for 75$ and I can mount it on my mathew's, hoyt, and elite bows. Mantis x8 has been around since at least 2020 and it's been overlooked in the archery industry, mathew's rebrands it as "shot sense" and all the mathew's fanboys are going crazy like this concept is something new.
can't wait for my bonus to come in, so I can pick one of these up! living out in the sticks, I haven't been able to find an archery coach. It would be nice to be able to see how shooting my bow differently would affect my score.
The only thing that would really benefit you more it if you had a grip that left a dimple or 2 into your palm for example the Bomar nose button spikes. You will gain hard index points with the grip, and repeatable torque. You'd eventually have a permanent dimple on your hand though.
I cant believe so many people are still waiting on bows. Im in the middle of nowhere ne Oklahoma and walked into a shop today that had like 10 lifts ready to go. I got the last 33 in ambush green and he had a good selection of mods and everything as well.
In your experience, does 3D or the 365 targets last longer? I bought a 365 a couple of years ago from the Elkshape store and it didn’t fulfill my expectations.
Interesting way to notice trends in your shooting. I’m curious though how much anxiety and potential TP this may induce in some people. You know you’re a good shot, Dan, but you can also tell that what the app was telling you bugged you. Bugged you enough to second guess your levels (which admittedly were slightly off.) How much will utilizing this technology create more internal chaos…? Time will tell.
Ive had a matis x8 for years that dose the same thing it was like 250 Australian dollars but i think their is one called a1 one aswell, i like how it fits in thd grip i think this is cool since i rather shoot off riser or swap grip this makes you not need to buy a flat grip so i suppose you save coin there.
I wish... I'm still waiting for a Lift order🤣 Cool video. I wish I better understood how it comes up with the scores. I tried one at a dealer and I thought it was pretty cool but didn't know what it all meant. I feel like it's better for the target folks but I think it's a useful tool.
Not every one has a bow vice so I believe you supposed to lay it on a flat table while it is calibrated. There are other peoples videos out there for setting up.
It's cool and is like anything else new that it will require some updates and probably a gen 2 with more features and more precise but i like it and having a leader board is nice to have some friendly competition
So how would you use this to improve? I understand the numbers but if you’re shooting 11 after 11 and maxing at 85%. Are you going to tinker and try to get more consistent based on the read out or just keep an eye on it? Also doesn’t it have an MOA rating per group? I’m curious about it but not sure the info will translate into much improvement.
It's about shooting performance not score. Once you're shooting well the score is simple sight adjustments etc. you can have a completely terrible form and bad shot execution and hit X's at 20 consistently. However if you try that same thing (bow out of level, torque, trigger punching) you won't be able to make accurate shots outside at distance or on uphill and downhill shots. So improving your shot mechanics allows you to be a better archer overall.
@@the_sharp_carpenter You are repeating the same thing in the video of "why you need this" if you dont know your punching your trigger without 100's of dollars of electronics or never heard of people that torque their bows and are sighted in for it...
@@the_sharp_carpenter I've used it and I agree with you. it helps to identify specific problems (torque, not paying attention to your level, movement patterns as you come to target, how steady you hold on target, etc.) that can be very useful to identify specific drills and exercises to improve your shooting. People are naturally going to dislike it because a.) it costs $350, and b.) it introduces digital technology to an analog activity. For those that don't perceive value: don't buy one. If you don't want the data and you wouldn't know what to do with it anyway, than this device is not for you.
@@jebstuart1323 yep you can be sighted in for torque at certain distances but when the distances change, or you switch to broad heads it all changes. Not saying it's a must for anyone just explaining why some might find it useful. This isn't the first of its kind on the market. Sometimes even with a hinge etc you can still punch it unknowingly in certain cases.
I feel like it would be much better if there was a way the target could have a sensor so the shot sense knows where the target is. That would provide much more valuable information. Who cares what the scores is if you are hitting bull eyes everytime. And unless my understanding is wrong, the “target” is just a representation of where you aimed in space and where the bow was aimed when you released the arrow. It doesn’t account for so many factors.
This was my thought as well. It doesn't actually know the framing/angle of the target, it implies it just from being level. I don't see how this would be effective when shooting on angles that throw this off. That's why in the video it shows his "pattern" off to the left even though he his center.
This is very much like mantis x for firearms, thing about these tools they don’t see the target, target can be great 10 ring, but score in app is low do to bad form. It’s watching for over travel trigger punching time on target etc
it is the exact copy of the Mantis system, the technology is the same, it just has a different UI for the app. and you are correct, the "bullseye" in the app is just a "target" that references your shot release on center. in my mind it's misleading for people who do t understand that. the technology has no idea where you are aiming, just what the movement looks like. So it is easy for someone to look at the shot track and think "oh, I'm always coming in from the left and top, better compensate!" it's misleading to think of it that way.
It's interesting as technology continues to integrate itself into the archery world. In states like mine, Washington, it's still 100% illegal to have ANY type of electronics on your bow. Of course, this is just in a hunting situation, but we now see electronics being integrated into sights, stock bows, etc, out the box. It might be time to update regs to accommodate electronics that don't assist in hunting. Also, it makes me skeptical of gimmicks to just bump up prices. Not to be that guy, though I am also skeptical of companies all wanted their app on your phone for data farming. Would be interesting to know what permissions the app request. Looks cool though and community options are also great.
Maybe they should just put a laser on the bow next! This is absolutely getting ridiculous everything hooked up to the phone now your brain will be next!🤦♂️
There are several different "SHOT SENSE" or whatever you want to call them, gadgets out there. Mantis x8, Steady Aim 1, BOWdometer - Ranging from $100 to $349. Yes they do some things different from each other but U Tube info for most is a few years old. Was this a fad back in 2020? Is Mathews reviving it? Makes me wonder.
It doesn't. It knows where you actually shot relative to all of the motion that comes before and after. You can actually enter the arrow position in the app for each shot after you shoot.
Detailed Summary Section 1 00:00:00 The speaker talks about the Shot Sense app and the Shot Sense device, which is used for advanced shot analysis in archery. Shot sense as you mentioned is really sick. It could help with coaching and learning from your shots. I shoot bowtech and can't remember what the device was that had been around for a while. Similar to shot sense from matthews, but would work on other bows. Thanks for sharing Dan, I jeef to go through anf catch up on your content. I've been away for a bit.
It does seem that you are all over this product but you were not real hip on the Mantis X8. Is that because you are sponsored by Mathews? I think a comparison of each product would be fair. It think it would keep the opinions honest
I imagine the module installed on the bow is storing the readings and just using Bluetooth to transfer the data to the app. So I don't think that will have any affect on the accuracy of the readings. That being said I think the only feature I would use this for is the arrow counting lol.
If you need technology to get in tune to what your body is doing there might be no hope for you. Ever spend months on a river or months in the woods and just realize how in tune you are with yourself. Hold your bow for months. Pick it up everyday and make it part of you. Stop being a slave. If you need this you might just be a slave.
Whats next? AI robot that goes out hunting for you? Fun video but its getting ridiculous incorporating all this into hunting. I dont even use a range finder because I learned how to estimate yardage as a kid.
