Anybody who puts down the Boxster or Cayman have no idea what they are talking about. I have a 911 AND a Boxster. Truth being told, the Boxster is just as quick around the track and is more fun in the Tx Hill country twisty roads. Once you drive one (IF you are a real driver) you will always sing the praises of the car. One of the best handling cars Porsche has ever built. Keep up the Boxster content. It is awesome.
I found your channel because of the Porsche content so count me in with the group that can’t get enough Porsche videos. They’re just so much more relatable than super/hypercars. Very much looking forward to the 986/987/981 comparison video.
A previous owner of several Porsches starting with a '74 914 in the late '70's in college, a 924 and 944 in the 80's, then taking an over 25 year break from Porsche, and getting back into to them with the 986 Boxster and now a newer 718 982 Boxster. The Boxster's are great spirited cars that handle amazingly, and are just plain fun to drive with the top down. Keep the Porsche content coming JR, very enjoyable to watch!! You are one lucky guy to snag a deal like that on that gorgeous like-new 981.
I, for one, enjoy the Boxter content and am quite jealous of the deals you guys are finding. I have owned several Porsches, but no Boxters. I used to have an 86 911, but am now thinking a Boxter could be good (cheap?) fun.
Yes, older porsche boxster are cheap. U could get a new crashed one for cheap and replace the parts, same for older ones, u can get a older one for even cheap
The 981 Boxster/Cayman is the Porsche sweet spot. On a tight mountain road, it’s better even than a 992 911. You guys are so lucky in the US. My 75k km 2013 Boxster base with PDK, PSE & SC - which I LOVE - cost $80,000 in Australia. 🦘
Loving the Porsche content. I have a 987.2 Cayman and it's the best car i've driven soo far, and these videos could prove useful for figuring out and sorting problems in the future. So I personally hope to see a Cayman video at some point, but any Porsche content is a win. Keep it up!
I am on my 3rd Boxster I started with a 2.7 987 then a 981 2.7 base and now i have my dream car 981 GTS in sapphire blue. I can soak up all the Boxster content you can produce. I think the Porsche Boxster is one of the best cars on the road today. Please keep up the good work. Thank you
Loving the Porsche content! I think it's more relatable for us to see content in regards to purchases $10-30k compared to something 50+ Gives us hope that one day we might take a risk and do the same
I'm definitely in agreement with all your comments in this video! I've got a '14 981 Cayman and picked it up in 2016 as a CPO with only 5,000 miles! It has undoubtedly been the best bang for the buck car I've ever purchased. The combination of styling, comfort, performance, and that sweet flat 6 sound can not be beaten by any car - period. On top of that, it cruises the interstate at 75 mph and gets about 33 mpg! It's practically an econocar! LOL! Keep those Porsche vids coming!
Smoking deal! Especially with a clean title. Absolute home run, congrats. Did they check the cylinders for damage while they had the pan off? And the warmup time is a real consideration for anyone thinking about installing a "racing" oil pan. It's complete overkill for a street car and might actually do harm if the car doesn't get up to temp during most drives. Keep the Boxster content coming! I'm a 987 owner and I love it, even though mine is relatively crappy. 😄 The 981 is absolutely brilliant.
Didn't stop smiling the whole way through, right with you :) And duh! Of course we love Boxster content! Every car enthusiast is secretly (or maybe not so secretly) a huge Porsche fan. Personally, my dream Porsche is a Boxster/Cayman with the flat-6 and a PDK. I just can't wipe the smile off my face listening to those instantaneous downshifts...
Having had several 356 and 912s, neither was a super accelerator and top speed car but, to me, was their handling. That’s why this Boxster would be such a kick to drive.
I like the fact that you have a convertible . You can talk and hear the engine but yet you can listen to the radio and enjoy the drive I think that's the perfect sound. Such a beautiful color combo and I love that interior. Paddle shifters are the jam.
I’ve driven hundreds of cars over the years. As a daily sports car, 981 Boxster and 3.2-litre Honda NSX share the podium for first place. They’re utterly brilliant.
You got yourself another gem. I’ve been watching your videos about these Boxters and this 981 appears to be the cream of the crop. I have a 951 since 1991 and certainly wouldn’t mind owning a 981 now. Such an upgrade to more modern technology.
I was in the same boat as you about the Boxster platform. I used to be one of those that would talk down on the Boxster/Cayman platform, my argument was always, yeah, but it’s not a 911, then I drove one in its element. Backroads to Porsche palooza in a 981 cayman base with my buddy in my E92 M3 following me, and he could not keep up. Shortly after that the M3 was sold and the search for a Cayman S began. I’ve now owned my 987.1 Cayman S for almost a year and a half, and absolutely love it. It is hands down my favorite car I have ever owned, and it may well be my first (of many) forever cars.
Great purchase. Amazing even in the UK how the price of good condition Boxsters is staying firm. On my second Boxster and still puts a smile on my face every-time I drive it. Quick enough to be fun, and the handling is just spot on.
I'd follow this channel without Boxster content but I love the Boxster buys and fixes you do. I have a low mileage 2001 986 S. Great fun to drive and your content takes the fear out of things that might go wrong. Porsche content is always welcome by me. Throw in an occasional 'other" type car you have perfection.
I don't own a Boxster or a Porsche and likely never will (except for perhaps a Macon for my wife) but I love the Boxster content - it's interesting to see the wide swing in values across the years and what great "scores" you're getting at auction (with all the risk and work that goes in to them). Worth watching for sure - even if you do get a bit over excited / over acting - it's great content nonetheless!
Enjoying all the Boxster content!! I have a 981 Cayman S, with sports exhaust and sports chrono which gives you a Sports + mode with rev matching on the downshifts!! The sound is amazing!!! Look at the Caymans too maybe!! 😉 Super find/job on a potentially sketchy 981 Boxster.
I love my humble 987 Boxster, and it's great to see others giving the car the recognition I think it deserves. The pinnacle model for me is the 981 GTS.
The cheapest 981 Boxter in Australia with similar specs (although twice the miles), was US$60k. My Porche dream that began in 1970 when I was 17 will remain just a dream. I for one love your content and will stay tuned whether it be a Lambo, Porche or even a US muscle car (wink).
Just stumbled on your channel (for 981 content) and I'm glad I did. Good energy and education here. Keep the content coming. Also own a 981B and I love the car; despite it's noices and frecuente creaking. I think it gives it character. Got mine for $44OTD w/ 17k and the deals are definitely out there guys.
Definitely did good Definitely needs exhaust I dig the boxster vids really letting us know all about the difference with them all is great . I am wanting one now pretty bad
PDK is not the best gearbox in particular for those who like driving, however for those who think that speed / bhp defines a sports car like PDK, driving a sports car is about involvement and feel using the 3rd pedal to modulate the car whilst exploiting the engine rather than depending on a computer to do the driving whilst you gloat at your driving. Manual is the collectors choice.
I agree i think we should bring back the advance and retard lever on the steering wheel to give the full involvement in your driving. Don't you just hate all those modern driver aids.
Deviated carpet is kinda rare. I missed out a 981S with full red leather w black deviated carpet. Sold 3 days before my Cayman sold. Ended up with a Yachting Blue interior.
I bought a MY03 Boxster S and the car is fantastic. I would love to see more content. I wish I had the room and your hookup to get another car for cheap! I like working on it myself. I have done full suspension, removed secondary cats, exhaust, intake plenum and throttle body, plus a bunch more.
Keep the Boxster content coming! I've owed 3 and also owned a 911. Like the Boxster better! Very underrated, people are catching on. That's a smokin' deal you got!
As an Australian owner of a dream Porsche 981 GT4, a beautiful 996 911 carrera and a classic 986 boxster, I love any Porsche content.😊😊😊😊😊😊🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
I've had two boxsters and 3 others Porsches including the new 992 911 S. I love the 981 boxster its brilliant sounds great and fantastic value for money
On my 3rd Boxster. Had all 3 versions of the Boxster so far. Loved my 987S (Sold to my nephew..... again. He also bought my 986) Loved these cars! Boxster is that fun, fast, and incredible handling car! And there is a big difference between 986 S (or non S) compared to the 987. It's like they (Porsche) decided to get closer to his big brother 911. And then the 981 S, which I just bought is another leep in technology. The PDK, 300 plus horses And suspension selection (that also controls throttle response and exhaust notes) You have sport or track. I highly doubt that I'll be tracking her anytime soon. 😊 I was going to buy a 2016 911. A guy beat me to it.... sort of. Dishing out $$$ for a third car in northern Michigan?? The other guy bought the 911 and found out he was turning in a 2014 981 S. Sold.
Homerun dude, plain and simple. I'm gonna have to get you to find me one of those jewels. We need to talk. Also loving the boxster content. It's got me seriously thinking about trying to find one at a decent price then putting in some sweat equity.
Congratulations AGAIN! Sound with top down is excellant. Though given you and bros skill level, why not replace oil pan yourselves in hangar!?! And approximately when will Porsche be issuing you a certified dealership License?!?!? LoL...
Great deal. Keep buying Boxsters, the pure sports car experience. I have had 5. Currently I drive a 2006 (987) S. I don't like that Porsche is coming with an electric Boxster.
I have A88 944 I've always heard dead boxers have problems but after watching all your videos and some of the good luck that you've had I may be considering one in the future.
Loving any and all Porsche content. Yeah, there is definitely something about watching that tach needle climb instead of Vroom Vroom...Jail. Keep these sweet videos coming.
New to your channel and love the content. The first Porsche I ever drove was a Boxster. Nice thing but 20 years ago not the prettiest. The later ones such as this are excellent and better drivers cars than the 911 truth be told. I’d go for a Caymen. Walter Rohrl considers them the best handling and he’d know. You did fantastically! Good call.
Keep up the porsche content! I think this is a deal for 20k for a 981 and a very good way entry into the world of Porsche, i would really like to see a 911 rebuild on the channel that would be pretty sick to see what you can also do with that platform, specifically a 991.1…
Nah, you're on point, you're driving a Boxter, it's luxury, it's got riz, you have better horses in the stable if you want to hit the track. But that car on a road track is no slouch.
Daaaaaang Man !!! New to the channel because I’m toying with the thought I’ve buying a 2003 Boxster and found your Budget Boxster vids. What a lucky find bro. Very Very Lucky on the risk. 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
I had a 2000 booster s. It was fun but it was a giant money pit. Quality was crap and repair bills where huge if you can find a mechanic that wants to work on one. The final nail in the coffin was a cracked head at 65000 miles with engine oil in the cooling system.
