THANKS for this actual, and frankly, *rare* balance between goofy humor and serious analysis, Breakroom Gang!!! The "Evil" description comes from Stan Lee, who, in 1963-1964, apparently wanted to make things clear to his young audience and the comics code (?). And that Cap-Wolvie episode, written by Wolvie co-creator Len Wein, is one of my favorite Marvel animated products to this day. And I *love* my new Nerd Riot Storm shirt!
Anyone notice biblical references throughout ? Jean parting the water, Magneto talking about Moses, and Gambit getting speared through the side as a final sacrifice. (when it could have been just as easily through the chest) Maybe im looking too much into it. Either way, epic writing and story telling!
Mystique might actually be Dr. Valerie Cooper. At the gala when Rogue was mentioned about ruling with Magneto, she gave a suspicious "What did she say?" and concerned motherly look to me.
X-Men animated TV can be very predictable since it’s theme based and evergreen. Sentinels, Sinister, Apocalypse, FOH, Savage Land/Genosha, aliens/Shi’ar, time travel, shape shifting/cloning, mother-daughter/father-son dynamics.
Captain America did come back to modern day after WW2 in that universe. He helps Spider-Man along with some of the X-men in the Secret Wars Cartoon crossover if I remember correctly.
I don't have any theories on the show because it really seems like anything can happen. BUT as far as Leech dwarfing Magneto's powers, I feel like that could happen but that it wouldn't be intentional. From what I understood, his powers were just always active an anyone being around him would lose their powers. And early in the episode, it just shows him having fun being a kid around all these other mutants who are using their powers. In one scene, he seemed happy that he was able to be teleported and that maybe since being on Genosha, he started to learn how to turn his abilities off. But then, when he's clutching onto Magneto, he likely wouldn't have any control because he's terrified. I could certainly see that Magneto wasn't as strong because Leech was there. But it's also my understanding that, in the comics, during the same event, Magneto was thought dead for a long time and turned out to still be alive and got super OP when he returned. Like I said, I really think it's all up in the air
I love in mystique solo run series when someone points out she was on a team with the word evil literally in its title and she just says they were being ironic 😂
I do feel like Leech may have been unintentionally defusing Magneto's powers, especially with how Magneto noticed Rogue trying to escape when he wrapped her and Gambit in debris to keep them away from the danger. I also think that maybe the mega-sentinel was detecting Gambit and not Magneto when it said, "Omega level mutant detected." It had already been fighting Magneto by this point, but hadn't seen Gambit yet, and we know that in the comics Gambit does unlock Omega level powers at some point. And after seeing what Gambit did to the mega-sentinel, he might have unlocked more of his powers at that point, but it obviously had consequences. My hope is that he does come back somehow, and there are so many different ways it could be done. Cable could change the past still, the X-Men Resurrection Protocol could come into play, or maybe Gambit isn't actually dead, just close to death. We won't know until the next episode and until we know which direction they take the rest of the first season.
The sentinel detected an omega level mutant .. it didn’t say it the entire time magneto was fighting it. I think someone reached a new power level at that moment
I think Marvel is doing for us what they know they can’t do in live action cinema with the X-Men. This is an avengers endgame level show. We are in for a treat for the next two seasons.
What if this series is building up to the actual storyline of the MCU X-Men which probably won't be in theaters until after season 3 anyway? That way, they can skip the origins stories like they did with MCU Spider-Man and just go right to the MCU storyline because by then, a lot of non-comicbooks fans will become familiar with the X-Men because of X-Men 97 series.
Leech explained to Johnny Dee he could consciously bring his dampening field in close, so that persons are not dampened unless they touch him. He was hugging Magneto. Also we can control our urinal but if something that traumatic happen who can control their pee.
I feel like this is a nexus event leading this version of the X-Men to the MCU. especially with how the world has now become more informed on the excellence specifically…. Erasing them from your mind would take a second.
Everyone is trying to find a way to undo the death of Magneto and Gambit but what if the writers stuck with it but their loophole is how are they going to return from the dead? The X-Men are part of the MCU where the afterlife has now been introduced so maybe Magneto and Gambit are strong enough to return from it. Haven’t we seen in other movies and tv shows that characters can return from the dead it’s just “something is different about them”? Did the “death” of Magneto where we see the explosion from Rogue’s perspective remind anyone else of the episode of Sherlock with Benedict Cumberbatch where Sherlock jumps and we see it from Watson’s perspective? With all this time travel and potentially undoing the events from episode 5 do you think the TVA will eventually step it?
Onslaught: the big bad in Marvel vs Capcom. Jeez how has it been that long ago. Also was part of the Heroes Reborn arc throughout all of the Marvel Comics. It was a dark time Episode V of X-Men 97' So many feels 😢
If it's not the Professor's sister behind this because both Gray and Prier had what looked like a psychic attack so Cassandra could be behind this to knock out telepaths before geneside started happened, but then I started thinking that we've just been introduced to one of those ancient evil gods of mischief that goes by the name of The Adversary, and that character loves chaos and despair and what's more despair than what happened in this episode. .. This evil known as The Adversary cannot be defeated by normal means without sacrificing life. Another enemy can be Bastion.
That question at the end about Wolverine.. I'm ok with him not being THE main character, but in an X-Men show, all members should feel like main characters. Roberto, maybe not so much.. he is a new character and a student, not really a member of the team. But we got Motendo which was a Jubilee centered show and that was the worst episode by far. It was unnecessary and did nothing for the over arching story. So I agree, they don't need those one off character only stories unless it is like Storm's story and adds to the show. Plus we know she will get her powers back and join them all powered up later on. But with Wolverine, they have had him in the show doing NOTHING. I mean wtf. A few cool fight scenes or at the very least training in the danger room. All they have had him do is drive Jean to a hospital. Kiss Jean but that was more a Jean story than Wolverine. And thats it. In the trailer for ep 6 (or the last half of the show?) we seen a battle damaged wolverine next to nightcrawler, so maybe we will get some bad ass moments. I hope so anyway.
Isnt Leech usually unable to control his powers very well and they are an always on type of power? He has to work to turn it off, the more scared or emotional he is, the less control he has right? You can vaguely see it when Magneto first meets Leech and his powers go away as he gets closer, but Leech looks to have trained in his time in Genosha and able to control his powers, at least if he is concentrating.
It would be insane if this series doesnt fix what happened here, and its deadpools job in d&w to save them. Could have a line to cable about showing up earlier
The more I think about it the less I think time travel will happen. Uatu watching makes me thing not only was this important but it was a fixed event. Magneto isn't really dead, he'll lie low for awhile... maybe even come back as Xorn. But Gambit... well.... Apocalypse is in need of a new Horsemen and considering his time as Death still haunts him today could be leading to that. Plus... if vaguely remember him coming back from that was when they found his participation in the morlock massacre and abandoned him in Antarctica. I may be remembering wrong.
They ask you how you are, and you just have to say you’re fine when you’re not really fine, but you just can’t get into it, because they would never understand.
Just waiting for Mr Sinister to reveal his master plan. How he had a hand in de-powering Storm, how he sent out the TriSentinel, and how he’s working Maddy Pryor, Jean, Cyclops and Cable
Guys, do you think the X-Men could activate the Resurrection protocol of Krakoa in Genosha to resurrect dead mutants? 😮 This idea got me thinking. There are so many options for the future 🤔 My heart is still broken though 💔
Why didn't the Godzilla sentinel register magneto as an omega level threat whenever he was using a train as a whip? Leach was the omega level threat. Secondary mutation? Or innovation in the use of his established powers. Rogues established powers should allow her to absorb Remy's mutation and charge him.
I watched this on twitch earlier, but for some reason, I think I was so focused on the three of you talking. I completely ignored the fact that there’s a helmet on a table for fallout on prime by the way gotta watch fallout this is the best show since last of us.
I dont think we getting apocalypse. His story was pretty wrapped up in the original series. He was basically the main antagonist of the entire show and he was destroyed throughout time if i remember correctly.
Apocalypse is resurrected in season 5. It's stated that he's like a nexus event person, he can't be removed from history. He will always be there somehow. Plus, we know Apocalypse still destroys Cable's future, he's the big villain in 3999 and Cable and the Askani are fighting him. If Apocalypse ceased to exist, it would completely erase Cable's existence. I don't think Apocalypse is responsible for the genocide though, he wouldn't target strong mutants like this. Only the weak.
@@reecewilliams8349 Season 5 was done by another studio, wasn't even aired by my cartoon network at the time loll, it wasn't really good. But I got to watch it later, and it still has a few good moments. But we don't talk about the Jubilee episode. Ever. ;)
All this talk of who died in the episode is pointless. I guarantee at some point cable is going to go back far enough to change things. We haven't gotten Gambit in his omega level yet. There's more story to tell with alot of the victims.
Gina Ippolito is the best she's not just the most beautiful of all when women on New Rockstars but her personality, knowledge of the comics, and best of all laugh makes her that much more awesome. Think I'm in love 😊
Omg. Please stop asking about Mystique. Shes not important to the xmen universe. Never has. Never will be. I dont know if this is an age thing or what. Shes not important to the comics nor the original tv show. Stop asking about her. Not an important character.
@@moondevell I admit I generalized with my comment. However it feels like everyone wants this undone by next episode. Which is super corny. At least wait for season 2 before killing the suspense.
