They need to change the law so that ANY person in congress charged with Sedition or Treason is suspended from serving in office until their trial is complete. Any person found guilty of a crime should be immediately expelled from office and never allowed to hold responsible elected office again. Looking at you Rick Scott. Also looking at all 147 Republicans in Congress who voted to overturn the election.

The very idea that "running for president" can get you "immunity from jail" is so backwards and insane that I cannot believe anyone would allow it. The notion that "someone might be guilty of extreme crimes against the state... but lets see if we should just hand them all the power by election" is just so insane. People who have abused power, caused great division in the nation, and been involved in criminal activity or negligence such as "knowingly encouraging armed individuals to storm the capital" should be barred from holding or influencing any office.

@@JM-jj3eg if he manages to get into the candidate pool, they can tie up any legal action against him as "attempts to damage his campaign" long enough that he could then win and at that point democracy is dead. Given that the gop already stacked the courts at lower levels and had them rule that their gerrymandering is "legal", there will be no coming back from this if we let it happen.

instead of changing the 'electoral count act' of 1887 they should change the constitution and abolish the electoral college altogether. unfortunately, changing the constitution seems impossible nowadays, it hasn't happened for 30yrs and most likely won't ever happen again, unless something cataclysmic happens first.

That’s a start. Now we also just need to: A. Get rid of the electoral college, with the caveat that candidates have to campaign in every state. There’s no reason in this electronic age that we can’t have a 1 for 1 voting system. B. Put 4 year term limits on every politician, including the Supreme Court justices. C. Make the 2nd amendment applicable to the time it was written: Citizens can have the right to own a single shot pistol or rifle, and nothing more.

Our country will never be a Democracy unless every voice is represented, and the majority wins, plain and simple. And it’s not about what I want. Shootings are a plague on this country, and the number one cause of pediatric deaths. They happen so often now that people are actually desensitized to them. You can’t hide behind the 2nd amendment, because 230 years ago, its writers could’ve never made provisions for the lethal combination of technology & idiocy. It’s a very simple equation. Guns are made to do one thing only, and they offer the user maximum carnage with minimal risk to self. More guns in the hands of ordinary citizens = more deaths.

I do agree that people in other branches of the government should have limited terms. Each individual there may not have the president's power, but it seems that many of them are just doing whatever is necessary to keep their seat. Even if they want to do the right thing, they are afraid of losing support. If the terms were limited, it might be more likely they'll do what is right, since their time is coming up regardless.

While it has been immensely frustrating seeing the traitor walking around a free man-child, the reason prosecutors don't want to jump the gun is double jeopardy. If they don't have a solid case built against him and they take him to court, his lawyers will get him off and the prosecutor can no longer charge him for that offence again. In other news, one of our Sheriff candidates was charged with perjury because she lied about her job qualifications when she signed up for candidacy. You have to have certain law enforcement experience, and she hadn't had anything even resembling a job as a cop, warden, or deputy. (Teacher or something.)

As far as I understand, the law says that a sitting president can't be charged with a federal crime! Didn't specify about lesser crimes. It would be a conflict of interest for federal prosecutors to basically prosecute the boss. However, there are many lower crimes especially in his case that he should be charged with. Not saying you shouldn't be charged with the federal ones either. We need to change that law.

This may be true for recent revelations, but I see no valid reason for not having already pursued charges for the gazillion other laws he broke during his presidency. The DOJ is making decisions based upon political optics PERIOD. There's no excuse. Just reflect on how many laws Trump clearly broke while he was in office. There's no reason to not have multiple investigations and indictments. It doesn't have to be all at once or all or nothing.
