The Philippines says the Chinese coast guard fired water cannons at two of its government fishery vessels resupplying fishers at Scarborough Shoal. At First Thomas Shoal, a Chinese missile ship directed a military grade laser toward a Philippine fisheries bureau plane three times. In the Paracels, China has rejected Vietnam’s account of an attack on 10 fishermen, three of whom suffered broken bones.
