Thanks so much for having me back on the series. Always amazing to catch up. Please do fill in the survey before 30th September if you can. The more examples and insights we can share helps evidence how much we need this to change 🙏🏽

There is a lot wrong with the home buying/selling process. The fact that the mortgage in principle runs out after 6 months The banks can disagree on the value of a home and refuse to lend to the buyer, when the sellers bank has already approved the sale. The RICs survey is not worth the paper it is written on and more in-depth surveys cost thousands. The fact that gazumping is allowed. The fact that you have to wait for the key to be released on the day, which can result in the removals van having to wait or unload your property onto the street! All of these have happened to me!

There is a lot wrong with the buying and selling process, from lack of trust in estate agents, valuations, the ridiculous amount charged for selling a house by the agents, the "one trick pony" play of the agents - reduce the price if it doesn't sell in 6 weeks. How come a house is worth, say, £500k when valued, but in 6 weeks it's worth £25k - 50k less? It seems to me that all the "professionals" involved in the process have very different expectations than the customer.

Many are over-valued. A house is worth what someone will pay for it, not what the agents say it is worth.

@@trildi I agree, but, how does a seller know how much to ask for?

@@t4bs594 Get 2-3 valuations to settle on a realistic number that's somewhere in between. If it's worth more or the demand in your area is high, people will offer you over asking.

Im into my 6th week of getting an historical charge taken off a property im buying. Why is this taking so long?? My solicitor has to keep chasing it up but never gets an update from the sellers solicitor. Im at the end of my tether with this now and feel i cant do anything about it 😡
