Ted F. : I know many professional musicians; violinists, cellists, pianists, singers, conductors, etc. They glory in the music they play, which is mostly European. I never heard any of them denigrate any other geographic/ethnic music as you do here. Your prejudice (pre-judgement) will keep you from enjoying and understanding a lot of beautiful things.
For over one thousand years, the Europeans have been creating the worlds most beautiful music. The modern progressive cannot take that away. It was Europe and her people, that conceived all of the music enjoyed today. There are no exceptions. I feel a pride, in that fact. I am saddened that such pride is looked upon, with scorn. God bless the European and the European American. God bless America.
Debussy liked Gamelan music from Java. Was he wrong? Ravel, Hindemith, Stravinsky, Milhaud, Poulenc and others were fascinated by African-American ragtime and were influenced by it. Are you mad at them for this?
