I was fortunate to work on set with Bill on Prison Break shot in Dallas. He was the head FBI agent in charge. Fantastic actor. Very cool guy on set and dedicated to his craft and role. Treated everyone with genuine kindness. I learned a lot from working with him. It was a wonderful opportunity in my life and career path.
@@Max-ul9yv no way in hell is season 2 better than 1. First season is prob the greatest single season of a television series ever made. Season 2 and 3 are great though. 4 and 5 are bad and awful respectively.
William fichtner has been excellent and almost everything he's been in but he definitely is quite a comedian I think he should be offered a committed show
William is a legend. One of the most recognizable faces in Hollywood. It's good to know he's personable and funny. Another top-notch interview, Michael!
Sorry, he wasn't very convincing in Heat. His character should have been more menacing. He reminds me of that Simpsons character with flared nostrils and spiked hair. He was only in one or two episodes.
One of the best character actors no doubt! I think the first film I took note of him in was Heat. He’s one of those guys that when he shows up in a film, it brings a smile to your face. This guy is such a professional. He shows up in a movie and kills it every time.
William Ficthner is such an underrated actor. He is one of those actors that is really good at whatever role he takes on and has been in lots of stuff. However most people that see him are like "oh that guy, I remember seeing him such and such movie, what is his name again?" Which is a shame because he really should be more of a well known name.
yes, i was like that until i watched prison break. Then i started seeing him in other AAA films e.g. Black Hawk Down and realising a gem..... sometimes u dont need to be recognised but you are bloody good.
@@jungleboy1 Honestly if I was going to be an actor, I would like his level of fame. Well known enough to consistently get work, but not so well known that I can't go about my life.
Bill is an absolute legend. Anybody who hasn't done so yet, I highly recommend checking out his work in "Invasion". The sheer amount of layers he adds to his character is unbelievable. I admire him so much.
Micheal this is one of the best interviews you have ever done, asking all the right questions, and getting amazing answers, short stories.Theatre story is fantastic
Wonderful wonderful interview. Fichtner is an actor I've seen on screen many many times but never really seen an interview with. A standard "talk show" could never even touch the surface of this one. Thank you both for sharing this fantastic conversation.
What I love about these interviews is that Rosie makes the guest and viewers feel that your sitting on the porch chatting with friends. And....the interview itself is never the same mundane questions that almost every celebrity interview includes. This is so real, so comfortable and enjoyable. Thank you sir!
Love William Fichtner’s work. I’m an aspiring actor in my 20’s and like him I started late, and appreciated how he touched on the LA or NYC destination for young actors to actually do the work. I would die a happy man if I had a portion of the career Mr. Fichtner has achieved. Great interview
Another great episode. I'm a huge fan of William Fichtner's work, he always brings such a strong presence to his performances and has that 'it' factor. Always great to listen to actors that are interesting to listen to and so down-to-earth.
This week’s episode is delightful. William definitely opens up and he has so many great stories. I learned so much about him. Inside of you Tuesday is the best day of the week.
Fantastic interview with a great guy. I love seeing interviews with creative people who you don't get to see often enough or not at all. They almost always have tons of great stories and interesting histories.
Watched it this morning and looking forward to it being my "bedtime story " tonight. So cool how he prepared for his role in Contact. Thank you for sharing. Praying for your safe travels this week.
Not seen a boring or poor episode of your podcast yet. Just fantastic work. Great interviews with great questions in a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere which really lets the guest just be themselves and open up. Thank you.
William Fichtner!! So excited for this episode!! Can’t wait to hear what stories he will share with you. You both were amazing in The Neighbor. Thank you for getting him on the podcast Michael. Thank you so much for everything Michael. Keep up the awesome work!! Have an amazing week and time in Australia. Safe travels and please be safe ❤️ Happy Tuesday 💙
Been listening/watching since you started the podcast, and this was one of the best interviews... have always enjoyed Bill's work, but after this interview--really appreciate him. He's just a good dude, and has a great perspective, shows humility and a very no BS view on life. Great stuff!
Absolutely love William Fichtner!! He just knows exactly what to bring to all of his roles and makes me love them even if they are technically "bad guy" roles. Loved his character in Contact, and Drive Angry. Such good stuff. If I ever became an actor, I would credit him for one of the reasons I got into acting.
What a fantastic interview!!! First saw William Fitchner in the sitcom “Grace Under Fire” and have admired his work ever since. This gentleman is talented!!! And may I say how inspiring! 😊
Of all the roles I have seen William Fitchner in perhaps his most entertaining was "Adam" in the sitcom Mom. Great chemistry with the others and delivered his lines beautifully.
Very fun to have a sit down with Fichtner. I recall noticing him in Virtuosity and yeah, it was a throw away character but he was noticeable. He was awesome in Go, Contact and Black Hawk Down. I do need to sit down and watch him in Cold Brook. You are absolutely right Michael, he is certainly able and really needs to be put out front more in lead roles. I'm sure he would bring all the color of character role wherever he goes but yeah, definitely needed out front. I'll call the studios, hehe.
Contact…epic! I remember when I read the book in 1983, I could not stop crying when I finished it as I did not want it to be over. The movie was just as wonderful and even more relevant today!
What a great interview. I have liked your work because I have never seen the same character twice. The other day I was watching "That thing you do" and there was a scene where Tom Hanks was showing me Forrest Gump. You really sell the role your playing. There is no meshing or overlapping of your characters and I believe that is a talent that not many possess. I have even more respect for you after this interview. Thank you for sharing.
I really liked William in Invasion. I got really invested in it due to him and was gutted when it got cancelled unfinished and I think it's a great example of him raising everything he is in. Invasion ain't no great amazing thing but he definitely raises it up.
The first movie I remember watching him in the theater was Armageddon, but early 2000s found out he was in Heat. From that to Black Hawk Down, Equilibrium, Crash, and even a couple scenes at the beginning of The Dark Knight as the bank manager with the shotgun facing the Joker.
I remember there was a time I looked him up on streaming platforms and only watched movies that he was in. He is such a great artist. When he is in a film, it's a great one.
To me HEAT is one of the greatest films of ll time. OK yes it is a remake of a TV film. Micheal Mann actually remade one of his own films. The original version of the film was called LA Takedown. But that cafe scene between Deniro and Pacino when their talking about having to take each other down, all time classic scene.
One of the great character actors of our time. He’s really good in the movie he did with Rosenbaum. I love his work from Armageddon to The Dark Knight.
This so informative to see interview like this. No talkshow could ever come close. Conan said it : I want to have a real conversation with my guest, and that in part why he wanted to get away from the talkshow format.
The films I loved his performances are Contact, Armageddon, The Perfect Storm and Black Hawk Down. I still get the tense/emotional feeling when him and Bruce had their scenes towards the end of Armageddon when Bruce and William fight and argue. Just the dialogue and emotion being in that situation, weighing the “trying to save the planet while also listening to NASA”. Loved it. That movie always gets me to cry. Lol oh yeah, he was in Prison Break. Great show!
This was a good episode for sure. William Fictner is a good actor and I loved his chatacter development on prison break as well. Thanks for having him on Michael Rosenbaum.
Just one of the greats. We saw him in at a restaurant awhile back. I was with a group of friends asking “where do we know this guy from?” Someone will mention one movie and then another. Next thing you know you’re up to 13-14 movies before looking at an IMDB page. When you start to do the math and throw out the small degrees of separation from Bill who has acted beside the likes of Pacino, Foster, Affleck, Ledger and so, so, so many more. He becomes no longer the guy who shared the stage with ______. He creates such memorable characters because he’s so damn great at grasping your attention. He might not have starred in every movie, but he makes each character memorable. And that’s true talent.
:D Amazing. I first saw him in Armageddon and I really liked him. Then when he was finally introduced into Prison Break I was super excited and LOVED his acting. And then I jumped down the Fichtner rabbit hole years later. A+ actor as far as im concerned. He stands among(at the very least) the greatest imo.
Afew years before Armageddon I met William while he was playing kickball with his son. I was an Aupair/Doorman tossing Frisbee with my boss' kid. The ball came towards me, I retrieve it & he asked that I toss it. When I realized who it was, I go to my boss (while she was reading) I say, "...that guy's in 'Heat'...! She, surprised says, "Excuse me!?!" I had to specify..."He's in the movie, HEAT!" Sorry, I didn't know your name, Will... You still look 27. Amazing Actor 👏🏻
In 1975, and 1976 I lived in Brockport, NY. I went to High School at Brockport High School then. I used to ride my bicycle over to SUNY Brockport to go to their library. I would do reseach for term papers there. I eventually landed in Charlotte, NC in my 20's. I worked 2nd shift at a manufacturing plant here. I remember watching William Fichtner when he was on a soap opera I watched before going to work.
William Fichtner as Colonel Sharp in Armageddon was straight up the image of duty and intensity. At this moment I'm reminded of the two pilots who took off in unarmed F-16s on 911 to intercept Flight 93. They agreed without hesitation "I'll take the cockpit. You take the tail". That man and woman fully intended to ram the airliner to protect US. Col Sharp project the same off the screen. Thank you Sir. BTW: I have more than 40 very impressive guns and live in the South, but I agree with you 100% about "got to do something about guns". The 2nd Amendment people NEVER say anything about the first few words of the thing: "A WELL-REGULATED Militia". It's the most important part.
55:58 it's true, guide dogs are working animals, such a great little detail that shows dedication to his art. Also love that he's buds with Kim Coates, another great character actor. They both seem to play similar types; ie bad guys hehe
Great discussion, thanks to you, Fichtner and of course his teacher Sally for putting him on the path! She did us all such a favour! LOVE that he loves GO! Gem of a movie, one of my all time faves.
Bill....your thought process with regards to retiring is such a rare mentality. It is so refreshing and so much to aspire to. Love what you do....do what you love.
I love William Fichtner, such a great actor and so criminally underutilized. Great podcast, keep em coming! Also it's not the title "Inside of you" , it's all about the voice 😁👍
Really look forward to this episode, this podcast has been a blessing in my life. Every week I look forward to the nexts episode your podcast is so inspiring and real. Thank you Michael you Rock!!!
So we always liked Bill, but now we really like him. And now know why he’s worked as much as he has. It’s because who he is as a person. People want to be work and be around him. Great show.
Really looking forward to this. Loved him in the movie Go… “It's Confederated Products. It's a different company, it's a different quality of product.” 😂
