What really happened at the Battle of Stirling Bridge?
William Wallace - Scotland's greatest hero. But who was he really? And where did he come from?
(With thanks to Stirling County RFC for allowing me to film and GP for the drone footage.)
Follow my adventures as I travel through the landscapes and history of Scotland. I make quick, quirky and (hopefully) funny content about Scotland's past, people and scenery.
I look for the hidden stories, forgotten people and beautiful scenery of Scotland and try to find the funny in the darkness, obscurity and occasional absurdity of our history.

❤absolutely fascinating Robert! Thank you so much for all of the information and Holy Smokes the Views were absolutely incredible 🥰. It’s so awesome to be able to see the places you show us in each video for those of us that unfortunately will never be able to see Scotland in person. I only have been able to imagine what it looks like through books and the photos and now the current videos of you and of course Graeme has given us peeks at some things I love every moment of each and every minute of them all 😃! Thank you so much your videography??? Not quite sure if that’s what you are s’posed to call it is absolutely Phenomenal!!!! The views of all around this one are breathtaking! The colors are brilliant ! Thanks again . What a beautiful Way to start my week on a Monday in Iowa 😊🥰❤️

It's amazing to me that the US version of what happened in Scotland is so different from the Scotland one. I guess time and distance changes so many stories. Thank you. I like your version so much better.

Loved the video! When I was doing genealogical research on my father's side of my family, I found that William Wallace was a great uncle and Robert the Bruce a great grandfather. I love learning more about them and the world of their time. Thanks for the video!

I love your videos and history. As an American I was shocked when I got to Scotland and found out how inaccurate Braveheart was. Great film, just way off. I was fascinated by Stirling and the surrounding area. I couldn't believe the actual battlefield is a rugby field. We found another rugby field in Doune that was the site of an old Roman fort. You guys have so much history in Scotland just say "great" but we need the space.

@scotlandunplugged
@scotlandunplugged Год назад
Hmmm. Good question. I would say summer is good for events - the Edinburgh Military Tattoo, for example, or the Edinburgh Festival. That said, if you want to avoid the crowds, spring or autumn might be better. Winter is beautiful in the snow, but travel can be tricker at times if you go north. A lot of attractions will only be open between spring and early autumn and travel can be tricker in the winter, but it is beautiful and there are things like Christmas markets. There's definitely no one answer, but if you like it warmer and you don't mind crowds, summer is good.

Robert I’ve got a complaint!..at the risk of sounding to demanding..your vids don’t run long enough..they’re fast becoming my highlight of the week mate!..yes some may say I lead a sheltered life?..but for eight minutes & sometimes longer I’m truly entertained..hence the reason for my suggestion to lengthen the vids..hope this doesn’t sound to sycophantish but I’m really appreciating your work!..Regards Michael 🇦🇺

I'm not entirely sure Robert the Bruce would have had the authority to knight Wallace - or would be very happy that a nobleman of much lower status than Bruce would have been made Guardian of Scotland. It's always worth noting that John De Menteith (the captor of Wallace) was not only one of the sealants of the Declaration of Arbroath but also given lands and important diplomatic tasks by Bruce. Was the removal of Wallace from the Scottish political and dynastic scene something that Bruce was actually glad about one wonders?

The wallace clan of Scotland still exsists and so does the Scottish Royal family and following the Jacobite Line to the Scottish Throne the rightful King and Queen of the Kingdom of Scotland and also the Rightful Commanders in cheif of all Scottish Land,air,sea,land,air,sea,land,sea,air cadet and land,air and sea cadet reserve forces would be King Franz Maria Herzog,Bonaventura Aldalburt,his Wife Queen Henretta and their royal kids not the English Royal family like King Charles invaded the Kingdom of Scotland in may 2022 to try to subjugate Scotland i say he is just another king Longshanks who agrees?
