The difference is that he used a variation of a Turk's head knot instead of a normal monkey's fist knot. The monkey's fist is meant to have all 3 directions perpendicular to each other, while the Turk's head is more "woven." Hope that helps!

This would be a bit too large for a bolo. I don't have a tutorial for a bolo yet, but I plan on making one!

Use monkey fist for both ends or Turkshead woggles. Look into boat rope end knots.

I don't personally know anyone with arthritis, but I do recall a random comment from a viewer telling me that they have been crafting with paracord as therapy for their arthritis. Perhaps simpler projects though.

It all depends on your state and local laws. This item is considered an "impact weapon". It is in the same category as knuckle dusters, slap Jack's, brass knuckles etc. All you have to do is either research your local laws for impact weapons, or just contact the police department directly and the will let you know. And just FWI in my state of Louisiana it's legal to carry this. Even concealed. Hope this helps.

@@southernhoss Being in California, It's probably illegal then. You can't even have over 2.5 oz. of pepper spray! In Yosemite, where there is a huge bear population, you can't carry a gun OR even bear spray! I guess they want people to be bear fodder! Thanks for responding.

It would be best to check, in the UK it would likely be classed as an offensive weapon with a maximum prison sentence of four years both for selling & possession

The goal of enacting the statute is to ban people from designing, selling, or possessing tools that are short, light, or easy to conceal. Such weapons are silent and effective for attacks and are typically used for unlawful and criminal intent. Below is the list of all prohibited weapons and the specific penal code sections that proscribe them. Melee weapons Billy clubs, sand clubs or sandbags, blackjacks, leaded canes, slingshots for saps (Section 22210 PC) Brass or metal knuckles (Section 21810 PC) Nunchakus, also known as “nunchucks” (Section 22010 PC) Just from the list I'm guessing that this item would NOT be allowed to be carried. But then again like I said its best to check with your local police and sheriff department. They would be able to give you a definitive answer. I hope this information is useful to you ma'am.
