Lindsay Davenport once said that watching Serena as spectators (either live or on TV) doesn't really make people understand about how good Serena's groundstrokes are, and so many people think she is just about power. In reality, Davenport said, Serena can do anything with the ball from both sides. She can hit it with very heavy topspin, extremely acute angles, flat and incredibly hard, deadly topspin lobs, and all kind of spins and varieties. What makes her groundstroke so lethal is the amount of spin in it, that allow her to hit with tremendous pace and still safely lands in court and create acute angles. Yeah, everybody who play tennis knows that you need enough topspin to control your power, but Serena' groundstrokes are truly at a whole different level of power , precision and consistency. And don't be fooled by her the way she hits volleys. Her volleying techniques probably don't seem "textbook-style" like Navratilova or Federer, but they are absolutely very effective against any opponent because she is very quick and powerful. Well, she wouldn't become the Queen of Tennis if she doesn't have all the weapons: legendary serve, powerful return of serve, lethal forehand & backhand, effective volleys, court geometry mastery, superb tactics & strategies, world-class athleticism, and the most dangerous weapon of all: unshakeable mental toughness.
