Willie Nelson and Kenny Rogers sing "Blue Skies" live from the NBC Kenny, Dolly and Willie special. I won a prime time Emmy for Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Variety or Music Series or a Special for my mix of this show.
Willie Nelson transcended country his music is Willie Nelson. From way back he never gave a bad or hater vibe u always felt this is one cool cat. This w Kenny is a gift and the timing couldnt fit better for me. That bass. RIP Gambler. Sorely missed. This was nothing short of pure beauty.
This is the best performance of Blue Skies. Rest in Peace Mr. Kenny. May you be picking on an upright Bass in heaven. Played this song yesterday because Georgia turned blue. We have 2 new great Senator's from Georgia. Thank You Jesus. God is good all time. And all the time God is good.
RIP Kenny Rogers! Very talented musician/singer. Not sure when this duet was sung but it's great and Kenny can really play the bass! I think he pretty well lived life to the fullest after his childhood.
To see my lovely Kenny play a bass was a wonderful treat. What a talented man he was, and you can see by his eyes how he FEELS that music so much. I never appreciated just how brilliant he was until recently, but now see/ hear him EVERY DAY, and feel so energised by his spirit. RIP sweet music Man, you left us a beautiful legacy XXXXXX.
Thank Mr Willie Nelson for giving the song writing credits to the writer mr. Irving Berlin the reason why I'm saying this is because when Whitney Houston was performing I Will Always Love You she never gave the song writing credits to Miss Dolly Parton and I tell you mister Willie Nelson you've got one hell of a voice and I tell you want you gone there will never ever be another like you you have a very strong powerful voice that cannot be duplicated
Many forget that Kenny started his career primarily as a musician, and was a very accomplished one at that. He didn't showcase this talent nearly enough during his singing career IMHO.
I remember watching this when it aired, and being blown away by Kenny "The Gambler" Rogers working that bull fiddle like a boss! Great mix, BTW. Congratulations on your success Larry!
Thank you Larry Brown! Thank you for your sharing your mixing talent and the special talent of Willie and Kenny! What a blessing for you to have been able to work with them!
My favorite Willie Nelson Song… I have only heard ugly things in regards to Willie Nelson on the Main Stream media… then came Texas Snake… he thinks the world of Willie and holds him in the highest esteem… love you Willie, love your music too … great pickin on those strings in “Blue Skies” thank you!
Apparently Kenny Rogers was a really accomplished Jazz Bassist. I know he played on Oliver Nelson's classic album "Stolen Moments". And with the lineup that album had, just to be listed ...they weren't hiring chopped liver. I'd liked to have heard more of that.
That was fucking amazing. I love me some Willie Nelson and Kenny Rogers TOGETHER. WOW. Reminds me of driving around with my dad in the 80s. He loved that shit
