My father toured with Willie for years as his live sound technician. Willie was the best man at my dad's wedding. In fact, Willie and his band were the only people who atteneded since my parents got married while Willie was touring in Key West. I admire this man because of how much my dad admires him. Excited to send this song to him today.

I have been crossing the border for business for 45 years, even a little smuggling.... I have had some close calls...guns pointed at my head, etc. No one has ever stole a dime from me, ,though'!! I believe I have a good angel watching over me! I know Mexico pretty good, have travelled for business from the baja to the yucatan, on wheels by myself many times. I have taught many classes to the Mexico State and Federal Police on crime scene evidence management and control. I married a wonderful Mexican lady. She did all her papers on her own, and is now a proud American. We have a Home in US and Mexico. Willie hit this out of the park.. The lyrics, the tone, the guitar.. and when WIllie hits the right tune singing " I come home to Maria..."... Completely blew me away....tears streaking down my cheeks. I have met Willie one time and seen him in concert 3 times. My father got me hooked on Willie Nelson in the 70s. He had many of his 8 tracks but Stardust was his favorites. Willie is older than my father and my father is gone now😢 and Willie continues to crank out outstanding hits! He is one amazing man!
My mammaws neighbor Faye Burke her son and WN played together long before he made a name for himself...I am now in my 60s while most know Willie with guitar ,he was playing piano at that time
One of Willie's hell angles "bodyguards" punched me in the the face when I was 15 years old and in the press section. I was a photographer for my high school paper. I didn't even get close and paid dearly for daring to take a pic. Needless to say I never attended another Willie concert.
@@catherinesikes3752 I listen to my father were out 2 or more 8-tracks and it's still one of my favorites also. Of course my brother and I knew every song on the album. Anyway we were at a very fancy restaurant where the 3 orchestra band comes around with the violinist, accordionist and cellist. They came to our table and we were very young boys spitting out these very old songs for them to play. After the first one they thought we might just know 1 but after about the fifth 1 we had their mind blown. They didn't know the Stardust connection lol.
I a 71 year ol Aussie been listening to Willie since I was 9 years young. I got to meet him Brisbane Australia I think it was mid 1990s I wore a red bandanna to the concert he threw all his bandannas into the audience he gave the one he was wearing to a child sitting in the front row they were beside me . A song or two later I took my bandanna off walked a few steps and handed it to Willie he got down on his knee we shook hands and he put my Bandanna on . Life is full of surprises and events I would not have dreamed that would happen when I was 9 years old. To the greatest Country Singer of all time

Now I have to laugh, I had 2 dogs, named them Willie and Nelson. When out calling them in the neighbors would be in stitches laughing. They're both gone now, God how I miss them doggies.

I walked across the border at 7 years of age due to cartels killing my family, I’m 26 now. I own a construction company and I’m working on getting my green card. I’m under the DACA program. I tried joining the military but couldn’t due to my status, I am Mexican born but The U.S. raised me and I would give my life for this freedom we all experience. Life is hard and you never know what others have to deal with, I respect anyone trying to make an honest living.
Absolutely agree with you. We need to make the work program based on merit and easy to obtain with a clean record. Also you can lose your status and go home for crimes just like you can lose a cdl here for driving under influence. In the mean time...trafficking of people and children and drugs and criminals, and pedophiles, and spys and terrorists!!!!! Has got to stop, Texas has fought 2 wars for that border and the right to respectfully enter the country and enjoy the freedom to secure your families life here or in Mexico. It's a tragedy down there and has been for a while with the cartels and Mexican Govt. I always tried to make a point to illegal guys I know in construction....why can't you pay to speed up your process? I would ask them this because I had a custody battle over my son and I spent just over 45,000 just as a man in this country trying to get custody of my child away from somebody that honestly shouldn't have been that hard to do but I don't have correct tools for special treatment in courts if you know what I mean. So I knew at a young age what it meant to believe in something and live a good life and pay every penny I had extra to help get my son into a position to succeed and not fail at his mother's. It was hard, it was rewarding but I would ask them...why don't you quit drinking and going to horse races and spending all your dollars on living the good life and not put that energy towards getting your records straight instead of telling me every 4 years that this President or That President is gonna be your savior 😂😂😂it doesn't work like that here. Nothing for us American borns comes easy if your not born into wealth. You HAVE TO WANT TO MAKE HARD DECISIONS

Willie- I have never had a song touch me so deep in my soul. I worked under 4 different administrations and honestly, they all sucked for us. Since 99 in Arizona (and before that in California) it seems like trying to do your job with both hands tied behind your back. Those boys in Texas violated policy. But everyone was violating policy there. What the 8th circuit did to them was unconscionable. And even though we are 9th circuit, we took notice. You can get health insurance for when you get banged up, you can get life insurance if you have to pay the ultimate price. But you can’t get “I was doing my job now I’m going to prison” insurance. Thank you Willie for trying to bring attention to the folks trying to protect our border. 💕
