You will never be forgotten old friend Despite that you have gone on a journey of no return, You will always be remember by millions Millions that were blessed through you I was once blessed through you Sam O.Cube
Saw Mink deVille live in a little upstairs club above Yonge street, near the gay ghetto in downtown Toronto in 1984. That show gave me the music for the rest of my life.
The Best!!! I love everything about this song!! The beautiful lyrics, his amazing soulful voice, and the rhythm of the melody!! I could listen none stop! Very touching! ❤️🎵🎼🎧
Willy...unvergessen .....R.I.P...du warst ein musikalisches Genie, leider von vielen verkannt ....ich wünschte du wärst noch hier auf Erden....i love you!
Willy DeVille: America's best-kept musical "secret" for FAR too long. Sadly, the world knew the unique genius of this once in a lifetime artist, long before his own Country. It truly was only after his passing that "WE" finally began to realize our profound loss. May you find the Rest & Peace that eluded you so often here.... Willy D. You are deeply missed & may we meet at some point, "Across the Borderline".
Willy DaVille was a comet blazing across our sky. He knew exactly who he was and what his talents were and where they could take him. He lived an extraordinary life and then flamed out far too soon but never forgotten
He was no secret in the world. I listened to him when I was 16 (Norway). Scandinavians love country-music. It has melted into our musical culture. I think most people feel that American music is really Norwegian :D
im 60 down under in New Zealand ... my age hes no secret .. spanish stroll .. 70s.. mixed up shook up around same time ... here huge ... always had a following in here .. even my 33 yr old girl been brought up with him .. .. RIP
Bloody Hell! This is excellent! I stumbled upon Will DeVille about an hour ago. I am blown away! I'll be 74 in a few weeks, and I've listened to MUCH music in my years - I play bass in blues and rock cover bands, and, with a buddy, have written some songs - but have never, to my utter mortification, heard of Willy, nor, obviously, listened to him. I'm in South Africa, so that can explain much! I don't know anybody who is familiar with Willy DeVille / Mink DeVille. I'm going to change that!
Willy's own songs are unbelieivable but even when he sang songs written by others he made them sound even better than the originals. Willy you are my hero, sing on in heaven. I hope I find you when I cross the borderline.
Willy DeVille was a genius, but this track (especially) also shows the benefit of having a great sideman. So often they are underrated. I saw Robin Bullock acting as sideman to Tom Paxton on his farewell tour and he was another example of their importance.
i have not heard a better version of this song absolutely brilliant. I remember buying his single and first album back in 1978. Your across the borderline now. R.I.P
A lotta people didn't know but he was living next door to Johnny Thunder when he was found dead. Saying out of respect for him, he told the press that Thunders was found lying on the floor with a guitar in his hand.
Love you Willy, and miss you so very much!
There is just something about this guy and his music that strikes a chord with me. He hasn't got the greatest voice on earth, but still, I just can't hear his stuff enough. The guy had the indefinable something. RIP Willie.
I grew up on the boarder of Mexico, loving Marty Robbins and absolutely no one can find the way to display the soul of it more than sweet Willie Deville!
