Thank You for sharing.. My Dad & I tinkered on old trucks & cars. Also guns. You don't know this but this brings tears to my eyes. I lost My Daddy over 20 years ago. I was his eyes & hands. He lost his eyesight & was blind in his 50tys. I'm now 56 as a woman full of wonderful memories. I could rebuild almost any make of vehicle with him. Guns too. You could read serial numbers off of a gun & he could tell me what make and model it was. HOW to take apart & reassemble it. Also with trucks. I would describe it he would tell me how to fix it. THEN he would hand it to me to rebuild it. I miss him so much. My Husband & several men in the area was so amazed that a woman( Me) could rebuild a motor, rear end or do body work.. I hung up my tool belt & closed the tool boxes when he died. He was my Best Friend.. Please keep us updated on your Willys. GOD BLESS

That truck originally had a 4 cylinder “Go Devil” or 6 cylinder “Hurricane” engine in it.... they where prone to oil starvation... so that’s why it has a Chevy in it now. I remember my dad telling me a story about my great uncle having one of the panel trucks for hunting... on the first trip out with it when it was brand new it had snowed a lot and the extra strain of just plowing through the snow caused the bearings to fail...

I know I am easily amused but I laughed out loud watching this! The poor little passenger door was just flying out there at each pass!! 🤣🤣🤣

Esso was the prior name of what we now know as Exxon. All over USA up until 1980s+\-

i used to find old relics such as old glass bottles on land that once was someone.s homestead

Those old flatheads that came with those jeeps were considered high mileage when they reached the 40,000 mile mark. Modern ohv straight sixes and v8's were often swapped. My dad put a 351 Cleveland in ours. Worked much better with lots more power, but I missed the sound of that old flattie.

I believe a lot of small block Chevy’s will fit right with the transmission on this vehicle

Pull all spark plugs and pour half cup of transmission fluid into the combustion chamber and let it sit there over night. Then pull start again like this video and it will blow the oil out of the spark plug holes. It will get all the rings loosened up and seated and get a lot of the compression back.

Exxon used to be called Esso in the USA as well. Same company, different name.....which all go back to Standard Oil before it was broken up.

New motor only has 35310 miles on it. Sweet!!!! Practically a new engine,,,, for an “old” engine.

l had 2 willy's a flat be 48 flat fender.s with a 283 warn overdrive...and a 55 willys wagaon with a 292 ford with a studbarker over dirve getting 19 miles to the gallon ...wishing l still had these two in my collection

I pulled a 70 torino gt out of a dilapidated barn with my dad when I was 13. Spent the better part of six years getting her all back and in order. I gave her hell for five years before the birth of my sons convinced me to sell it. Sixteen years later and I'm itching for a project. I'd love to come across a basket case datsun 210 or 510...

59 was the first full windshield if i remember right one i had was 59 and had full windshield

1953 and earlier have 5 horizontal grill bars. 1954 and on have 3 horizontal grill bars.

Older Ford or International wide 5 lugs will work also.

I have a machete just like yours. When I was 8 years old (1961), my dad and I were driving down a levy road on the side of the Mississippi River on a shell road about 70 mph. In those days you could still use shell for aggregate on roads-can't do it anymore because of dredging for it was messing up oyster beds among other things. All of a sudden we heard something hit the bottom of the car and started dragging under the old Ford Custom. We stopped and low and behold it was a machete like yours that probably dropped off of one of the trucks that were transporting prison labor to and from the cane fields, and it had stuck in the floorpan on my side in the front. Still have it hanging up in my shop.

go to the parts store ask for a hei distributor for a 79 up 250 six cyl pull out the old one drop in the hei plug in a 12 volt power lead you will have fire to plugs get some gas in it fire it up good luck love the videos

Pull the Jeep with all spark plugs removed...squirt oil in each cylinder...let the clutch out in high gear while getting pulled...the engine should turn over easily....then try to start it.

That might be multiple roll over - after the first and 40k - that is 140k really - replace motor. Put another 60k. So over 200k for the body.

i see a what looks like a vin number tag under the driver side of the seat in your video not really sure since i don't own a willies lol

I am a constant worrier so,did you take the oil pan off and look at the rods and did you take the valve cover off and look ,did you ? I worry that lack of oil on those moving parts might cause damage ..sorry ,I worry so much...anxious to see it run..sigh ...CBJ

there is no way that willys truck weighs 6k lbs. that was probably gvwr. curb weight is what you want. that willys truck curb weight is about 3100 lbs with a bed.
