A documentary was produced by veteran Cincinnati broadcaster Bill Myers for his twin daughters kindergarten class Wilson Elementary in the Forest HIlls School District.
Thank you Channel 9 and Bill Myer for your insight in filming this video over 50 years ago. As a child, We lived next door to Wilson my whole life growing up. I attended from 1961-1968, I was one of the countless Kindergarten kids that had the pleasure to have been a student of Mrs. Baird. I/we the students and now adults can never thank you and everyone who was a part of the school system at Wilson for all the guidance you gave to each little life. You all were truly amazing and magical in your ability to touch each our little lives. Thank you doesn’t seem to be enough.
This reminds me of my own school days back in the 60's. Unfortunately, I was in kindergarten back in 1962-63. When this movie was made back in 1966, I was in third grade (1965-66). This was your typical 1960's classroom right there. I remember having milk and cookies (we had to give our milk money to the teacher), singing songs, watching movies on a reel-to-reel movie projector, and so forth. This was the lighter side of 60's life. Good job to whomever made this film.
Nan Fagan did you go to Mt. Juliet elementary ? I don't remember my mother buying any of my school pictures back then. I wonder if there's sny way I could possibly find out if any of those pictires still exists on negitives ?
Oh no Donnie. I was born and raised here in suburban Philadelphia. I went to the Folcroft (PA) Union Church for kindergarten. I was in the afternoon class. The school district leased the lower part of the church for kindergarten class. It consisted of two kindergarten classes. Mrs. Lundberg had her class right across from Mrs. Pollock's class; which was my class Unfortunately, Mrs. Pollock was killed in a car accident a few years later.
I too went to Wilson for K! Also had Mrs. Baird. Summit was not yet built/finished. Can't remember a single classmate, but, I do remember the magician/animal show that came to school! A pigeon flew away from the stage and took a dump on my shoulder! Of course I cried.....it was warm, or burning so I thought! My mom had to come to school to bring new clothes! LOL!
The future Class of '78 right there. Those kids today are probably all in their mid-50's. Perhaps they sent their own kids, or even their own grandkids, to the same school; and might have had the same two teachers as well.
