Thank you sir. I wanted to add a place to hang a 24, but there wasn’t quite enough height on the pipe.

Is that a good or a bad thing? I am a millwright by the way.

@@txtoolcrib I gave you a thumbs up. I was very impressed with your work and paying you a compliment. Those older experts in the mill could fab up wonderful stuff! It brought back some great memories. I was a Millwright Apprentice and completed 2.5 years before the layoffs in the early 1980s. I ended up joining the Navy before the second round of layoffs. When I got out, I called in for reinstatement and they said of course, but you're still in layoff status.... I decided to stay in California and get my Masters. I'm now more of a tinkerer with a bunch of metal and woodworking machines in my small shop. I have access to all kinds of tooling at work

Thank you very much! I used a wax lubricant on the annular bits. This vise stand is meant for my shop that will be built in the next couple of weeks. So it is meant to be semi-permanent, so that I can position it in different places within the shop. Later I may mount this vise to a table, I haven't decided just yet.

@@txtoolcrib Thanks. I saw one of your videos on a concrete poor, do you have the framing part. I been wanting a 40x60 shop and looking for ideas. The only issue the shop will be 5 miles away on a diffrent lot I own as my home lot is to small. Well I'm a new subscriber to your channel.

I am wiring it in as we speak. I have to get the rest of my equipment inside and located before I finish out the wiring.

Yes it is. This is an annular mag drill.

I used 13/16” for 3/4” bolts.

I used 3/8” plate for both plates. Bolts were 3/4” x 2”

For what I need it works perfectly. However, if you are going to be needing it to do some serious stuff, then I would recommend mounting it to the floor.

I didn’t, but I will be drilling a hole on top just for that.

A friend of mine works at a trailer repair business. They have hundreds of these drums, usually scrap them out.

Find a local repair shop or trucking company for a used brake drum. Cheers!

The idea crossed my mind.

I’m actually planning to start a separate channel for build like this, making some of my own tools, furniture my wife wants me to build, just for fun projects, and general metal working tools and techniques. I’m about to have my shop built and will be making quite a few things in the near future.
