In this video lesson, GM Igor Smirnov shares with you some really cool opening tricks to fool your opponents and win their queen in just a few moves. These traps have high win/success rates and are from 10 different, popular chess openings! You can win a queen in just 6 moves in some of these openings.
Through these opening traps, you will learn one of the most common tactical patterns involving sacrificing your central pawn(s), getting one of your minor pieces (bishop or knight) into your opponent's territory, and then deflecting your opponent's king to win their queen.
There's also a puzzle challenge for you at the end with which you can test the knowledge you've gained from these traps. Also, please let us know in the comments below which of these traps you loved the most.

the answer to the puzzle at the end is Qh5 for anyone wondering. The reason is that the king will be forced to move to d8 and when it does, you can play ba5 pinning the queen to the king and winning it, and the queen cannot capture because the queen on h5 will take black queen that just took the bishop. if black tries to play g6 to misplace the queen so that it wouldn't protect a5, you can simply play bxg6 forcing the king to move anyway, then play ba5 again and win the queen

Puzzle solution: Qh5+, If opponent plays Kd8 you play Ba5 (protected by the Queen) and you win opponents queen. If they block the check with the pawn, you take if with your light squared bishop, forcing Kd8 where you play Ba5 again and win opponents queen.

Clearly, 1. Qh5+ ... and 2. Ba5 (pinning Black's Q against the K/d8) wins. If Black tries 1 ... g6, then Bg6+! (but NOT Qg6? - losing control of a5) completes the trap.

Trap3 doesn't give you massive advantage with so many pieces being sacrificed. I mean getting the Queen itself gives you only +2. If they don't take the knight, you end up giving them +1. The way you present it, it's a winner. However, in my opinion, you shouldn't get too excited about it, even if it works

Some fun strategies here! Question about the Tennison Gambit: at 0:55 what if instead of 3 ...Nf6, black plays Bf5?
@rexoni2512
@rexoni2512 11 месяцев назад
If you are still wondering, there's a line where after Bf5, Nc3, Nf6, Qe2, Qd4,Qb5+(also attacking the bishop and the pawn at b7), Bd7,Qxb7, here you are about to win a rook, if the opponent go Bc6, you can go Qc8#. Now if after Qb5+, the opponent blocks with Qd7, Qxb7 still threatens to win a rook but after Qc6, you can't mate on c8 anymore because it is covered by the bishop, instead you can go Bb5, pinning the queen and the king.

On trap 7 at 13:15, when the pawn is promoted to a knight, wouldn't most players notice the attack on the king and queen with the bishop and simply return the king to its home square? It would then be hard to save the new knight.
@batasmerah2209
@batasmerah2209 Год назад
Maybe, but the next move can win a rook cuz when you check with your queen the opponent should protect the king with the pawn (you get the rook), if the king move forward (you get the queen), if the king move to the front of the queen ( you can protect the knight or likely made more chance to winning the game)

Y'know with the first trick there, the Tension gambit, believe it or not, of all the times I tried it, I've never had anyone defend the pawn with the knight f6. My opponents always first move the h pawn first (h6) or they simply don't accept the gambit at all. I think I'm going to quit doing the Tension gambit, since nobody I've been playing is moving there knight. I guess I will do the other 9 openings.

Flaw spotted 13:10 After moving the pawn out of whites way and promoting to a knight, the white king can now retreat back to its original square instead of taking it with rook, completely mooting the attack and freeing his queen. As opposed to promoting to queen where he cannot do this since he cant afford to leave the new queen uncaptured
