First off, Fischer is my favorite chess player of all time, Morphy is second. Secondly, I always get a chuckle about who was the best or the greatest. Both are chess geniuses but the comparison falls apart when one understands Fischer had hundreds of games by Morphy, Capa, and Steinitz (his own big three favorites) to learn from where as the others had no one of Fisher's talents to learn from. Fisher stood on the shoulders of giants as he bacame a giant himself.

One of his BEST videos for those of us trying to use engines to improve our games; much he says I , after time and frustrating review and angst, had already concluded regarding engine analysis versus my own, but nice to have a GM confirm my conclusions. . A "How He Thinks" video (it may be ins a purchased video) is also a great help. Thanks, Igor.

Thank you for the nice tips, I was looking exactly for this kind of opening as it fits my style of play. My new favorite opening at 1600-1700 level on lichess! PS: at 8:37, 9. Nd5?? by white is not an "interesting move", it's a big blunder and white is losing completely after 9... Be7, developing and gaining a valuable tempo on the white Queen when black is already a rook up and already has a winning game.

I usually don’t comment on any of the videos that I watch, but this was great. A series on this topic would be much appreciated. Thanks!

A stupid rule I’ve given myself that helps is “When you feel like you’re forced to play a bad move, don’t” it’s rare that there is absolutely nothing that can be done. Maybe there’s a sacrifice that must be made but you should be able to do something to take advantage of the strengths of your position.

Weirdly enough I just played a guy who played this a few minutes ago lol. I was black but my natural response after pawn to f4 was bishop to b4 and I ended up in a great position after applying constant pressure...and then my phone died, plugged it in a came here and this video pops up lol

As newbie I feel like the rule: to take is a mistake needs just a bit more explanation…in particular to take is a mistake (if the recapture by your opponent moves a stronger piece forward)…this could probably be an entire video since I never know when I’m ready and end up playing defensively and inevitably blundering and losing. NOT A FUN WAY TO PLAY….then you just want to quit.

Great video, very practical. Igor, we enjoy your fun opening videos, but we'd like to see more of this kind of stuff too, and also some more endgame strategy as well. Thanks!

Wow, I did not know about the latter part about the positions of the kings showing the result of the match. Also, I've noticed from the clips that it's the winner that places the kings, or in the case of a draw, the player that accepts a draw. Is that part of the etiquette or am I reading too much into it?

Igor. Thanks and very useful. I follow your instructions and read games in books and everything is patently obvious. But when I play against computer I make a mess time and again. When playing I simply do not see what I perceive as obvious when following your teaching (or that in a book). Why can I not translate intellectual understanding into a game? It is so frustrating!! Kind regards, Michael (76) from NI

I use the engine to focus on what my blunders are and why, and then what would be a better move would have been...it helps, but it can be frustrating at times.

I like that you teaching in a very human way, thinking all thoose mistakes we make as human. I don't mean a specific move or a specific blunder, but the psychology behind humans. Some of us overcommit to analyze, some of us wanna win too hard. so on.. And if we are tired all of us makes very stupid blunders.

This episode was an actual banger.. now we know where the story will move forward and I'm glad that Plunger Cameraman is taking it easy now.. and I really his relationship with Dark Speakerman here, their dap up was amazing, this is what would've been if they didn't die in the original series 🍭💝

Been playing the Jobava for a few weeks now, and I keep seeing videos online saying black has lost the game after 3...Nc6 but I'm just not seeing it personally... Stockfish gives a +0.4 at best in most lines that follow unless Black really commits to losing as many pawns as possible... I know Stockfish isn't the whole story, but I don't think the lines it plays are that unusual or wild, and are well within the range of any four-digit elo player. Just speaking from a practical standpoint, I've found many players making this "losing mistake" easily able to fight back and I don't think I win more than 50% of these games. In fact, 3... Nc6 has become quite a strong weapon for me vs the Jobava in blitz, as I find very few white players have prepared the line beyond just knowing "it wins"
