Totally! I came to the comments on first watch after the 900's game just to give that player props for a good game. Any game where you can push an opponent to a King and Pawn endgame when the opponent is better (by rating) than you is a good game. In this case, it was a great game. Well done!
@@nashh600 That's because Danya is specifically focused on instructional content in his speedrunning, Levy splits his content between entertainment and usefulness, also Daniel Naroditsky is a GM so at the higher levels his content has more to offer, but definitely Levy is better for a higher portion of the chess community.
@@nivnavion No, Danya is just a better teacher imo; he goes through all the lines in depth and answers the questions too. Also he generally doesnt blunder like Levy does. I love watching him but Daniel is way better at teaching chess

Honestly I think these are my favorite videos - very laid back, good amount of knowledge. Same energy as chatting over brunch. Perfect for a Sunday morning.
I learned a lot about the copycat playing against the engine, crazy how you're winning if and only if you play the correct move and how fast it can fall appart despite the advantage. Good video once again!
The position after Qf6 is apparently holdable, but the moves begin to be computer-like several moves after Kf8 and h5. The most computer-like moves are to retreat your pieces to kick out white's most active pieces in order to more or less equalize the position. Kf8 was not an otherworldly move to see after Qxf2+, but it's certainly counterintuitive to surrender castling rights (well, despite white surrendering castling rights as well) while several pieces are threatening utter destruction.
Levy, this series and "Guess the ELO" are your two best series. They're easy for someone like me who is still beginner/intermediate player to understand and get behind. You seriously need to do more of these - like maybe twice a week. Can't wait for the next episode as these really help me a lot, especially when you are explaining the positions, how to think about what needs to be done, and how to counter your opponent
Hey Levy, one of my favorite parts of the original win at chess series was when chat would ask a question about a stupid move that I was thinking of you would explain why it was stupid. So as much as I get cutting chat for filthy language purposes, it was part of what made it nice for me personally, so I'd like to see it come back. Just my opinion though, keep doing you

@@renobgm 1700 isn't at least more than 1600 though, even though I'm maybe not the best person to say that as I'm 1900 rapid, but I doubt most of us are that high rated (1800+), we aren't on danya's channel here
Glad these are back! A lot of educational content can be hard to consume because it isn’t about specifically what you want to study or you can’t ask questions. This series works because it’s just seeing real games and picking up on ideas and patterns and learning small things. And it remains more entertaining than most educational content because you’re invested in the outcome of games.
This series helps me a lot it prevents me from getting tunnel vision and helps me create a strategy, taking initiative move, learning several complicated tactics, enhances my thinking ability and some basics i haven't know Thank you for continuing this series

You should show the eval/engine lines while doing the analysis. I think it would be pretty helpful for those of us who have no intuition about when some engine ideas might be useful, but still want to follow them. It also really helps to put what you're talking about in some context.

Hello Levy, I have an important question (important for me at least). When you are thinking and calculating some moves in your head, without looking at the chessboard you are seeing in your imagination the whole board and pieces moves, or do you see only the part, where right now pieces are moving, and the rest of the board is kind blured? I would expect it depends on the position and and how many points of material are on the board. A complex position demands whole board awareness but it’s just so much more energy. Both approaches can be utilized appropriately depending on the situation.
This is my favourite series. So glad it's back. Definitely the reason along with your opening courses that I've gone from 900 to 1300 since watching you.
I think I need to rewatch all of these episodes with chessly open. I've never gotten the variation from the last game, but I was excited to know the line and plans in the position as a 900.
If you play Pablo the 1600 chess engine you can practice the Vienna Mirror (copycat) variation, with numerous outcomes incl Nf6 😁 Good to see Win at Chess back
Thank you for this video. This series specifically pulls me out of my slumps. Chess fatigue and what not. But this series motivates me to keep going. So much that I beat a 2200 as a 1690. I just thought, “what would Gotham do?” Best advice I heard was what you said about looking at your opponents best move. Woooow, that QG8 line was amazing. Bro, I've studied your Vienna course copycat variation and I've lost many games than won it because I did messed up my lines but man I have to do my homework as well. I need to watch your video again about the Vienna system with the addition of that QG8 line. That's just nasty, you either get smashed with it or you smash people with it. Simply amazing! Time definitely flies by homie. My mom passed away in May at the early age of 42. Your content has helped me keep my mind occupied. Only 1000 rated on lichess and from what I've heard about the correlation between age and rating it sounds like I'll never be an amazing chess player but I enjoy beating my friends with some of the weapons I've been provided by some of my favorite content creators. Keep the content coming it does more than just entertain and teach for some.

The copycat Vienna for white after Qf6 has to be the most intense high wire act in chess. Get the sequence of 10 moves exactly right and you've won, but you never remember all the right moves, and almost every move gives you a chance to make a reasonable-looking move that's actually a fatal misstep. Even Levy blundered, and he's the Vienna evangelist.

Enjoyed the series--fun to watch the evolution as you try different formats. Losing the chat was nice (fewer distractions--"please don't play chess with distractions" was a great line in #22). Finally got to the end and the end game course website is under construction! Also liked the phrase, "It's never to late to..." [get mated, develop, lose the game, etc.]. Great content...yes, sooner than 4 months!
hello, new to the channel. I've got two questions friend. First : that Quenn g8 move, i don't understand why it's superior to just coming back to Queen g7. Especially because of the bishop g4 threat that you mentioned. It feels like going g8 might just put your queen in a weird spot after d6 threatening bishop g4 (or at least it makes you have to play the queen preemptively, which wouldn't be the case with Queen g7). I'd like to know your thoughts on this if you have a bit of time :D Second question : I don't quite watch twitch usually, only youtube but i'd be interested in a game with you in the future. Would you mind telling me what is the procedure is ? Thanks for this channel btw, didn't play chess for a while and it's super nice to have access to that kind of content ! Edit : ok I lied, third question. Are the chess.com lessons worth a penny ? I've read a couple of things and I'm willing to spend some times training, not just playing. <a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="3150">52:30</a> I went to look it up, the best move here is Kf8, protecting g7 and getting out of the Nc7 fork. It's the funny sort of move that obviously helps solve all your problems, but is so hard to see upfront
