This is where Reagan's nickname came from. As President, he was affectionately called "The Gipper".

It is amazing to me that he gave this speech as a young actor and then later as a two-term President. In many ways, he became "The Gipper" especially after he was shot. "Win one for the Gipper" started out as a line in a movie and became part of American History. Ronald Reagan won his last election 49 states to One.

If it hadn’t been for that sewer rat Bush Sr. I’d say Reagan could have won a third term easily. It hadn’t been all that long since FDR got elected to four terms and I think if he wasn’t such a great believer in the American system and had decided to challenge the 22nd amendment the country would have gladly had him back for a third term…but alas we got Mr. foreign intervention and warrantless wiretaps himself, and the saddest part is Reagan didn’t really like Bush Sr. That Much, Reagan was far more nationalist and as such very non-interventionist in foreign matters when compared to Bush and his love of using illegal surveillance and the US military to better his own and his weird, ultra rich friends’ lives. The only reason Bush 41 was elected was because of the good will Reagan had earned from the American people. To think we had a Republican in office just 6 years after Richard Nixon was caught for all the awful, corrupt things he did, and that man did so much good the American people elected a different member of that same party when Ronnie’s 8 years were up. Sadly all that good will went kaput with Bush’s 1 term presidency in which he got us heavily involved in an ongoing middle eastern conflict that we’re still in, to a lesser extent, today. I think the two party, flip “control” every 4-8 years system could have finally been surpassed if Reagan’s successor had been half the man he was. Instead we got 4 globalist puppets in a row in GB-41, then the greasy, lying, murdering perv Billy C, then GWB-43 who ended up being a puppet of his father who is a puppet of the globalists, and finally Barracks OBambo…the biggest fake of all, and one of the biggest instances of using race as a manipulation tactic in modern history. This led us to desperation and we chose Donald Trump, a man who I voted for because he had similar political ideals to Reagan, but he also had a huge ego that got in the way of every positive thing he could have done, and has very little class, couth, suave and all the other little things that made Reagan a great leader. Now we have A literal human skin sack that is a just a palatable figurehead for the most extremist, pro socialist, covert totalitarian congress We’ve ever seen. Sorry for the rant, I just really wish things had gone another way the last 29 years I’ve been alive. Nobody can say literally everything would be better if the past could be changed, but I’m certain if we’d had a third term with Reagan and then another strong, unabashedly pro-freedom candidate like Ron Paul had won his endorsement and led our country into the 21st century we would not have had troops in the middle east for over 20 years straight, we would not have had an ongoing “pandemic”, and we sure wouldn’t be seeing a 30% increase in cost of living in 12 months with zero positive GDP growth like we are now.

It wasn't just some line from a movie George Gipp was a real man who played for Rockne and died of strep and pneumonia, Reagan didn't just take a line from some movie, he became popular off of a dying man's final words.
@force263
@force263 2 года назад
Reagan was a shitty actor (Even in the Gipp scene he’s awful, he looks like he’s about to smile at Rockne like a child i front of the camera for the first time) and a cynical political opportunist. But he was in 2 good films (Kings Row, KRAA), which is more than I can say for the rest of us. We can thank him for the rise of the foul-smelling “religious right” who want nothing more than to wipe out the separation of church and state and make women and girls die of pregnancy or raise kids they resent being made to bear, but yay, go ron… (I’d say that I wish hinckley was a better shot, but HW Bush wouldn’t have been any better than Reagan, as evidenced by his appointment of Clarence “wheah de’ white wimmens at” Thomas, who ushered in the scotus era of illegitimacy, which we are now entering in earnest. 2/3 Catholic scotus…. Yeah, nothing like representing a nice, even, fair cross-section of the American public. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha… funny stuff…

No, Reagan was a decent actor. Not the best, not the worst, and starred in a lot of "B" pictures but had a few powerhouse acting highlights in the "A list" movies during his film career, too. Methinks most of the "Reagan was a bad actor" jabs come from the liberal crowd who hated him for being a conservative Republican president. It's the same kind of hate that the formerly "good liberal" Charlton Heston got from the left after he began swinging right and became the head honcho of the NRA.

@vincentsartain3061
@vincentsartain3061 3 года назад
@@kattglufsare Sorry, but your bias is showing; it's as clear as glass that you're just projecting your antipathy for his politics on his earlier work. This is an acclaimed role for Reagan, and for HIM, even I would admit that "acclaimed roles" were few and far between -- but "a few acclaimed roles" in his career he did have (KINGS ROW, THE WINNING TEAM, and at least a couple others.) Reagan WASN'T a "bad" actor, he was just, overall, *mediocre.* And the "mediocre" actors in Old Hollywood vastly outnumbered the "great" ones. But it was those "mediocre actors" who made the "B" pictures that actually made the money to finance the bigger budgets of the more "ambitious" "A" pictures. Lastly, Reagan's screen career lasted for the better part of 30 years, which translates into "just because YOU think his acting stunk, doesn't mean that there weren't enough filmgoers and television viewers who didn't share your opinion of him to keep him from enjoying a modestly successful screen career for over a quarter of a century."

@@vincentsartain3061 Dude, it's your own bias that is showing. I'm neither leftist nor american or anti-Reagan. You were so hot and ready to defend him that you probably missed my last sentence. @@kattglufsare Okay, sorry for misjudging you. But I did meet you half way when I conceded he was mostly mediocre in his Hollywood days.
