An updated version of this with dual channel RAM and a Mendocino APU would be very enticing. I’d expect roughly double the perf with lower power consumption
This is why I was looking at the Loki Mini Pro from AYN. They have the Dual channel 16GB with the Mendocino chip for about $340. But shipping it, I heard, is very long and doesn't start until Q4 this year. Although, the SSD is only 128GBs.
I did the same thing! Received my 64GB model, booted it up with the eMMC just to make sure it worked and then ripped it out and upgraded to a 512GB in about 5 minutes + Steam installation. Simple.
I got the 512 gig version myself as I did not want to fiddle with it. however Steam deck is soo much better value and performer. If this was about £250 or lower maybe would have been worth it.
@@suhtangwongthe base line is only 399. You can upgrade the internal storage and add 1-2tb micro SD card as external storage and still be cheaper than the versions that cost $500-600
Great vid as always! I have to make a point: Stereo and Dual Stereo are not the same thing. The win600 has Stereo speakers only. There are Dual Stereo speakers (4 speakers total) on some tablets where one pair of speakers work in portrait orientation and the other pair of speakers work in landscape. 1 speaker = mono. 2 speakers = Stereo.
Well, this might finally replace my vita for emulation. But still going to get a steamdeck just because it probably have a longer 'lifespan' considering these chinese companies sort of drop the ball in keeping support going and such.
My steam deck just became available for purchase. I'm so excited and can't wait till it ships and I receive it. I'm going to use it as my ultimate emulator, steam pc gaming, and xbx Ultimate mobile package!
I have been loving my steamdeck so far, but I prefer to stream games from my main PC than to play directly off it so I could get by with a less powerful one than a steamdeck I guess. But I would still get the steamdeck just because it is so seamless compared to other ones I dealt with
I'm waiting for the leaked Logitech Gaming handheld to be announced. Curious about the specs and what it can do. I pretty much want a powerful handheld for emulation and one that handles Cloud gaming (specifically Xbox GamePass) really well. I don't necessary care for it to be able to run PC games natively like Steam deck. A few Chinese handhelds already kind of meet my criteria, but like you said they can just drop support randomly.
They keep getting closer and closer to the edge so eventually they're going to put the left side of the d-pad and the b button on the actual side of handhelds.
Did you see the Ayn Loki Zero with the 3050e is $199 on pre-sale? Might be a compelling package given the performance. It is hard to dedicate to one gaming store when I have games in Steam, Epic, Microsoft, Blizzard, and many others. The Ayn Loki might be a good device for those like me. Would love to see Epic come out with a dedicated device.
Exactly. RP3 if you need an ultra-budget device and Steam Deck if you want something premium. I play PC games on my Steam Deck (ashamed to say a lot of classic PC games that I never got around to playing) and PS2 games. It’s nice to be able to play games away from my desk after spending all day working at my desk. My family appreciates it too. 😂
I don't really think android and windows handheld compete in the same market at all. Also, the deck is not really available anywhere lol. I can buy the win600 rn if I want to
@@mathdantastav2496 Steam deck and RP3 go hand-in-hand. For the price of a tricked out win600 you are a few dollars shy of a Steam Deck and an RP3. As far as availability, you can order a Deck now and still be in the next wave. That said - I am aware it is unavailable in certain countries. If that were the case the Win600 would be a nice choice.
Unfortunately, being not much cheaper than a Steam deck (especially if you go with the 64GB model and upgrade to a 512GB SSD for a total of $450), it just isn't worth it. Yes it is smaller, which might be interesting to some folks, but it also won't have the community backing that the Steam Deck (just like any SBC is hard to recommend other than the Raspberry Pi).
Then again, the issue of availability and lower cost makes it the only option in the many countries where the Steam Deck hasn't officially released yet.
@@csolisr that is fair. For those who do not have access to Steam Decks then the choices are limited. Although the Aya Neo Air would be a much better value at $572 for the 5560u 16GB Ram and 256gb SSD than this at $470. For $100 more that’s dual channel Ram, much better graphics, much better cpu, etc. only limitation is storage….
@@paulbeers4105 Well there's also the limitation of budget. Especially on countries where import taxes are particularly high, those $100 more quickly become $150 more and even saving that much is particularly difficult.
I'm thinking of getting something like this for longer Gamepass games with lower specs like Persona 3 Portable and FFXIII that I would never have time to beat at home. Gaming through the cloud is cool, but the input lag and pixilation at times is gut wrenching
I've heard rumor of an Athlon 4030e that uses Zen2 and VegaII(as opposed to the VegaI in the 3050e). Being on 7nm i would expect that thing to sip power, especially considering the 3050e is on 14nm Zen1 yet is still somehow only using 7w, that or we'd get a nice performance bump in CPU, GPU, or both, i'd expect graphics to run at maybe 1400mhz, and maybe even come with more CUs
Never heard of an Athlon 4030e, the last time I've read about a Zen 2 Athlon it was the Athlon 4150GE, some samples were sold on aliexpress earlier this year, but that was a desktop part and it's still not been officially released after all this time. I would kind of expect Mendocino to take the role of these part at any rate, at some point in 2023.
Abernic could have used soldered on RAM like the Steam Deck and Aya Neo handhelds do and could have gotten Dual channel ram that way. In my mind for $475 bucks this thing isn't even worth purchasing due to the fact that the Steam Deck exists and so does Aya Neo. Also not having Analog Triggers on a device like this in 2022 is inexcusable. However in countries where you can't get a Steam Deck or Aya Neo Air then this thing is might be worth purchasing.
I still feel like they could have got 2 sticks of RAM in there without compromise if they swapped the position of the RAM or even went with a smaller SSD and then stacked the RAM
These new handhelds coming out are very cool, but it's going to be incredibly hard for anyone to compete with the Deck at its price/performance ratio. The availability of repair components and guides is another huge feather in the Deck's cap. Yeah, I know, preaching to the choir and whatnot. That said, there is some really cool stuff coming out that is mostly thanks to this new wave of APUs with very solid graphics hardware performance.
I care about diverse options for the consumer and tired of everything being compared to the Steam Deck. There will and already are devices better than the Steam Deck, and as more time passes, that will be more apparent. Valve should not be the only option. In the grand scheme of things, this market should become diverse like gaming laptops are today. Valve just one of many options. Some options more afforable depending on the company.
@@ashbiemoon9128 That's all fine and dandy, but reality couldn't give two squirts and a dog fart what you care about. Like it or not, the enduser's budget is the ultimate decision maker. It's fantastic that others are making things in the same segment, and can push the envelope that much further. For the time being, the Deck is going to sit at the top, whether anyone likes it or not. It won't be there forever. But for the time being, it has price/performance ratio to sit there quite comfortably for the time being.
This seems nice! Iam thinking about to buy a budget pc handheld just for indie gaming like hollow knight, dead cells or turtles. i have a high end pc. it isnt worth it to turn on the high end pc just to play the indie games. :D is this one holding good for these games?
I'm interested to see if you have a 32 gig and see if it works in this machine, I saw one form talking about possibly 32 ram working in it now I don't think it would add any performance, but one person said they had set it in the bios to 8gb dedicated to the GPU with there 32 and I wonder if that would actually benefit it at all, but that's just out of curiosity if 32 gigs work and setting 8 gigs to dedicated vram would benefit at all.
Hey, let me ask you a question... I'm interested in getting a Handheld PC (does not need tô be the win600), but I also want to use It as my main PC, pluging in a Monitor with Mouse & Keyboard... Do you know if there is any problem on using It pluged into the charger for using It for multiple hours? Like, using for work or whatever.
Looks cool but I think it's a little too late. I would've loved having this 2-3 years ago but now specs have moved competition has beefed up and I just don't see myself buying this even out of curiosity unlike the aya neo air plus which I plan to pick up out of curiosity
I have to agree with Paul Beers. If the price was a bit more competitive, It could be a recommendation for people who just like to enjoy the lighter 3D gaming, but honestly even though it is large, Steam Deck is far more impressive on the specs and you'll have access to a lot more games with the hardware being more capable. Hopefully the more success Valve has with their new gaming device, the more studios will bring software like FSR to their games so we can get more out of what we play too.

Ok, so we've got GTAV at 30fps for maybe 2hrs 15 mins on a full charge? That ain't bad at all. Do any of the current devices offer similar but for more like 4-5 hours?
That stick placement.. why would you do that. Also I hear a lot of people say the deck is to big.. and these smaller devices have the future, I completely disagree.. the deck is big, but comfortable to hold. Which should be one of the main focusing points of a modern day handheld. Love the switch.. but for a adult person it gets uncomfortable quickly.
Man, can you please help me?... I got my Win609 today, this BLUE model... And I was following a Guide on How to overclock the RAM After that, my console droped working... When I turn It on, the LED turns on, the Fan turns on as well... But the screen stays Black, and nothing happens... I'm desperate
@@fonzitheman I got the refund, ordered another win600... And I got probably the same unit that I had the problem, cause the safety seal that It has behind then console was broken... I was Fine with It at first, until the console starts to run into BLUE Screen errors, and I didn't tried to do anything Crazy this time... So I returned It again, got the refund, and Never tried anything from Anbernic again
