Recordings from the cockpit of my flight from St. Maarten to St. Barts recorded with Gopro Hero 4 Black mounted on 2 way Gimbal, Roger Hodge was kind enough to contribute in a small video clip after landing where Roger talks about Twin Otter aircraft. So many thanks to Winair and their skilled pilots, a pleasure to fly with this company.

I've landed at St. Barth at least 20 times in the 80's and 90's (as a passenger on vacation of course). My ex wife was wealthy and loved flighing almost as much as I do. The Winair pilots were the best and their Twin Otters were the best planes. Sometimes they were able to exit at the first taxiway!

Dehavilland DHC 6-300 series twin otter, made in Canada (Bombardier Aerospace) Shown in this video is the much older model with analog gauges, pre:1998 :-) many airline companies have replaced the older dhc-6 with the Q-400 model with modern technologies and glass cockpit, also made in Canada by Bombardier Aerospace.

The DHC-6 is the perfect airplane for that airport. When I was a kid, Golden West airlines flew the Otter into El Monte airport, it was fun to watch them land and takeoff really short in the beginning when they came in empty you could tell they were just seeing how short they could get it off and land because the runway was way more than they needed. Those pilots do a great job and have a beautiful view all day at work.

Sir Paul put a DC-3 in there, full stop and took off at mid-runway. Excellent pilot Paul was (still is). Gendarmes got on him about it but he's a good B.S.er! Lots of memories and thanks again! @markotik75
@markotik75 5 лет назад
A_Friendly_Fish Yeah, I’m guessing you’re right about the lack of AC. I work as a Flight Attendant with Virgin and like most people in my profession, I had to fly with a couple of smaller airlines and work my way up. You can really tell which aircraft have AC and the ones that are like ovens. I remember my first time working as cabin crew, it was on a Fokker 50 and damn, some journeys were absolutely cooking. Nowadays though, I work long-haul flights usually on a 747-400 but sometimes I get to fly on the awesome 787-9 aircraft - it’s easily the most comfortable to work on. Huge crew cabin with comfy beds, big TV with an Xbox but best of all, brilliant air conditioning ✌️
