Thanks for posting this video. I have a model 121 and ever since I restored it, have never managed to remove the bolt. Seeing as these two models are so similar I watched your video and discovered that little tang inside the bolt feed. Just did what you showed and bingo! After four years I can disassemble it for cleaning . Appreciate your video very much.
Sir, thank you so much for making this video. My Grandpa passed away 17 years ago and this past Christmas I received his model 121. It's a single shot, but has the same bolt as the rifle in this video. I couldn't figure out how to get the bolt out to give it a good cleaning. But thanks to you I learned how. I have gotten to shoot it and I am impressed with this old rifles accuracy. It road on my Grandpa's tractor everyday for 20+ years and he used it to shoot ground hogs on his farm. Once again, thanks for the video, because of you, I learned how to get the bolt out so I could give Grandpa's rifle a proper cleaning!!
I'm not sure, exactly what you mean by "charger mechanism". I also don't know when I could do another video on it, I have a whole list of videos I still need to do. Thank you for watching!
thanks for this video, i have a sears & roebuck 273.27510 which is a clone of this rifle. you helped me out a lot because now i see mine is missing the ejector and thats why the bolt just falls out the back.
There were a lot of guns made for different stores back then. I hope you're able to get the parts you need to get it working like new again. Thanks for watching!
@@SmallCaliberArmsReview hey my parts finally arrived but im having trouble figuring out how to replace the ejector. I was wondering if you would be willing to take the furniture off your gun and send me a couple pictures of how its supposed to look all in working order?
@@LordMorde I cannot do things like that on RU-vid (I'm sure it violates their terms of service) and I cannot provide links to firearms related things. RU-vid also did away with private messages on their platform, the only allow links to our other social media platforms on our homepage.
I have a Winchester 121 single shot I picked up a few years ago. Nice rifle in similar condition. After one trip to the range one of the spring steel extractors broke. I waited over a year to find it in stock online. The rifle is back up and running great now. If you can pick up a spare set of extractors I recommend you do so. Thanks for the great review.
Working on one for a friend. The bolt doesn't close smoothly. It's very hard. Is there supposed to be a notch in the striker head? That seems to be the catch thats preventing the bolt to close smoothly.
That's kind of what I did. Trying to decide weather to file out that notch or not. I'm not a pro but love fixing these old guns. Couldn't find the replacement part and just afraid if I file it out I'll be removing to much material. Thanks for getting back to me and for the video. Keep them coming.
I would check Numrich for a replacement, they carry a lot of parts for old firearms. Sometimes the parts are used, sometimes they are NOS and every now and then they will have reproduction parts.
Question about bolt assembly. I have a model 121 and something is not assembled correctly. On the back of the bolt there is a lug of metal that if looking at the butt of the gun is at the 4 o'clock position. I think it's supposed to be at the 6 o'clock position. I can not for the life of me figure out how to get it assembled correctly. The gun was given to me in this condition. Thanks for any help.
I have no idea what the similarities or differences between a 121 and a 131 are but check with Numrich they have lots of diagrams and exploded views of many many firearms. You may find the answer there, I have found many there myself! Wish I could be more help. Thanks for watching!
@@SmallCaliberArmsReview I'm pretty sure I got it worked out. All I needed to do was get a hold of the back of the bolt and twist it so that lug was in the 6 o'clock position. Thanks.
@@MarkVieta That's what I was going to tell you to do, but you figured it out on your own. That is the bottom lug that rides in the channel of the receiver. Enjoy shooting your rifle!! 👍
I think those were made for Winchester by Cooey in Canada. They are ok guns but not pre 64 quality. Winchester later stamped their name on Australian Sportco’s for a couple years. They later became Kimber of Oregon. Very high end 22’s
Great little rifle. The bolt design is same as used in the Model 70 and is 'controlled feed'. This holds the cartridge going in and out for positive control throughout the bolt cycle. Using two of these to teach 4H'ers small bore silhouette skills.
I'm a fan of the rifle myself. That's awesome that you're teaching kids about firearms! I think every person should learn gun safety and the value of human life too. Thanks for what you do and keep on doing it!
I have the 131 ...father in law’s actually...he got it years ago...like u said magazines hard to find but I’m new and wanted to kno the best places online to start...of course due to current state of our country w/ the covid-19 virus, it’s even harder considering online stores are on tougher schedules and greater demand...but nonetheless any help retrieving these mags would be appreciated
Great video.. I wish I could find a cleaning video for this rifle.. I’m 31 so this rifle was way ahead of my time and can’t find much info anywhere online
Once you pull the bolt out, that's just about all you need to disassemble to clean. Spray the bolt down with some RemOil, scrub with a nylon brush, then clean the bore like a standard .22 and it's done! I guess I could have done a little more "In-Depth" cleaning in this video. Thank you for watching!
Small Caliber Arms Review thanks I appreciate it!! I just finished it! I was thinking there was more to it! Lol I’ve been spectacle over cleaning this rifle for 10+ years because I didn’t want to disassemble it and mess up any parts and not know how to put it back together (being theirs very little info out there about the 121, 131 and 141 but your video helped! Thanks again! Btw, I noticed you said their was a semi auto version that was similar to the model 131, do you by chance know what model it is or was it just another configuration of the 131?
