I recently purchased the "Lite Rack" 22 LCP II for my wife to carry in her purse. We are both older and racking the slide of a 380 is out of the question for her so the 22 has to do the trick. She is able to rack the slide with no issues. I like the way it locks back after the final round. I did an extensive test of different ammunition for her to shoot. I have put at least 1,000 rounds through it and came to the conclusion the Federal 40 gr Champion RLN works every time. I bought 2 other factory magazines from Ruger and while trying the assorted ammo in my "test", different ammo will work with one magazine but not another. The pistol was cleaned and oiled after every trip to the range. Looking at the magazine with the human eye, there is no difference, strange as it is, the 40 gr Champion round would always work. I also purchased a "threaded barrel" from Ruger to use my SilencerCo Sparrow silencer on the pistol. The point of impact is always low and to the right when shooting with the silencer. That is no big deal, it was just for fun. My ammo test included a box of Winchester 37 gr Silver Tip Segmented Hollow Point. I got so frustrated trying to get that round to work in all three magazines that I finally gave up and still have 25 in the box, probably 15 of the other attempted used 25 ended up on the floor at the range from not firing. Just my thoughts on the Lite Rack 22lr from Ruger.
It's really nice when a firearm eats everything you feed it, unfortunately, it doesn't always work that way. I suspect the 37gr was just a little too light to allow it to function reliably. Sounds like you did some pretty extensive testing with it and you found the formula that works. Thanks for watching!
Unfortunately, I do not. I see that you also asked on the Cabela's site! I may not have my manual either, it's been a while since I shot that video. Since I wasn't using it on an AR, or with the intended caliber, it really didn't matter too much to me. Sorry I couldn't be more help. Thanks for watching!
@@SmallCaliberArmsReview ok thanks , so tell me if this logic makes sense. If I bench the rifle and at full magnification put the center cross hair on the bullseye , then count the clicks until the first subtension is on the bullseye , that's how many moa it's set at? I could do that for each subtension? Will that work?
Yes, that will tell you how many MOA it is between the subtensions. Say if it's 4 clicks until the next subtension lines up with the bullseye, and your scope is 1/4" per click at 100yds, your distance between the center of the reticle and the first subtension would be 1MOA. Very close anyway. One MOA is actually 1/60th of a degree, or 1.047" @ 100yds, 2.094" @200yds, and 3.141 @300yds..... There will need to be other calculations to figure out the actual bullet drop at different distances. That's a whole other ball game! I hope this helps!
@@SmallCaliberArmsReview Thanks , yeah I got all that , just wanted to make sure my logic was correct on determining the MOA between subtensions. It shouldn't really matter what yardage I do the measurements at as long as I'm on full magnification with the SFP scope, correct?
@@SmallCaliberArmsReview I did a first test , I want to lock the rifle down better and do it again to verify. What I got lines up very well ballistically with a 55gr at 3100fps 1st(300)--15 clicks= 3.75 Moa 4 (400) ---25clicks= 6.25moa 4.5(450)--32clicks= 8.0 Moa 5 (500) -- 40clicks =10 moa 5.5 (550)- 49clicks=12.25moa 6 (600) - 59clicks = 14.75moa
@573reviews I've seen people say "if you put a bigger grip on it and a longer barrel it's great".... That's so dumb. At that point you have all the cons of a bigger gun without the pros. You might as well have a j frame 38. But in the original configuration the NAA 22 is awesome. It's a tiny gun with small grips and a snubby barrel.... It's just useless. Like a DESERT EAGLE in reverse
@@SmallCaliberArmsReview I just took delivery on mine, and the action seems pretty smooth right from the factory. Only issue is the brass bead is missing from the front sight. I left a message with the seller about it, but haven't heard back.
I've just bought a 1917 in .32 rimfire. Action has gone to brown patina, barrel still in plenty of bluing. I have a different front sight,, yours is nicer.
I've had the unfortunate experience of seeing one of these CVlife FFP scopes in person, albeit made 4 years ago, and it was complete garbage. You would be much better off just sticking to a name brand budget SFP scope and that will be the best for MOST people. That is the truth.
@@SmallCaliberArmsReview You're welcome, and you do a great job on these! The worst problem with it was the reticle, it was way too thick and that is a fatal flaw on a FFP. If you know scopes (and I know you do) it was like looking at a clown car.
@@SmallCaliberArmsReview Nice! I've found for shooting accurate and quick long range (especially for windage) FFP is the best way to get there. SFP has it's place, and is generally much better under 500 yards, at least for me.
Do you have any opinion on the Diamondback Sidekick? I’ve been wanting one as an alternative to a heritage or a ruger but I don’t like to buy unless someone I trust has reviewed it first. I’d love it if you could take a look at one!
I haven't shot one yet, but I did get to handle one. I'm not a fan of the way the cylinder swaps out, but being a swing out, I understand why it's like it is. I'd like to pick one up some day, but who knows when that will be. Thanks for watching!
Nice job, I was going to try and make my own but decided to buy because it wouldn't have the spade on it. I know it's not accurate, but put a brown elastic lace on mine to make it easier to put on. As my dad would have said, "A man in a high flying plane wouldn't know the difference.😂
Yeah, I left the spade off of mine too. I like the elastic idea, maybe I'll re-make it some day with elastic and the spade. Your Dad was correct! Thanks for watching!
A win/win situation. You can't go out and farm but the grapes get a drink and I get to see a long awaited two A related video. Looking forward to the outdoor portion. Thanks Richard. JimE Be interesting to see the results. I had a different version of CVLife scope about a year ago. Sad to say, I couldn't get it back to Amazon fast enough. I have seen more positive reviews since then.
Thank you JimE! We really needed the rain, I haven't had to mow my lawn in months! I cant wait to take the rifle out and try it, I've wanted one for years. I hope the scope performs as well as it feels and looks. Once I get it zeroed in, I'll try the "Tracking" test and see what happens. I've always liked Vortex scopes, but it gets expensive trying to put one on every rifle I own!
@@SmallCaliberArmsReview Rain? You want some more? We didn't have rain for 7 weeks and everything died including the grass. Last week I got 6.31" of rain in a little over 24 hours here in E TN. East of here and W NC things got and still are pretty bad with flooding. Keep 'um comin' Richard. JimE
@@JimE6243 Yeah, I've seen a bit of the flooding and damage in some news clips. I work with some people that live in Kentucky, West Virginia, and Southern Ohio that got hammered pretty hard last week and over the weekend. I grew up in Florida, so I'm pretty familiar with the effects. I hope you're doing well.
@@SmallCaliberArmsReview By the time water gets to my house I will have already seen arks going by below me. As for food and water, that may be a different story if really gets bad here. But the wife has us prepared pretty well.
Great overview video! Just curious how an adjustable objective is as different than a power adjustment on the ocular side?… far more convenient on the side though for certain 🍻
The ocular side is to adjust for your eyesight. The adjustable objective, just seems to put unnecessary torque on the whole scope. To me it does, anyway. Thanks for watching!
I have had great success with CV Life optics. Don't have that big beast but would love to get one. It looks great on your rifle and lower rings is all it needs. Looking forward to range test
I've watched a few other videos on the CVLife scopes, yours included. I've seen several people that liked them. I plan on zeroing it in and doing a tracking test next. Hopefully it will perform like it should. It definitely needs shorter rings! Thanks for watching Hillbilly!
You definitely do nice work, but if it were me, I know you're making it to be as close as possible to the movie prop, but I would change that snap out just to make it more period correct, but that's just me.
I was a little disappointed by the performance of the rifle. A concrete bench is definitely in order and some custom loaded and fitted ammunition would be necessary to make a reliable decision on the quality of the rifle.
@@SmallCaliberArmsReview I would like to have one except they are a little pricey I paid 900 for my ultra carry in 2013 I swore I wouldn’t do that anymore I’m looking to get the Taurus T.O.R.O. Check em out
Yeah, my Ruger American Rimfire (22" barrel) is sighted in at 50 yds too. It just seems a good distance to shoot something as small and light as a .22LR plus I'm vision impaired (blind in my right eye, trifocal in left eye to be reasonably functional) so shooting beyond 100 yds is difficult for me even with a scope (Burris Droptine Rimfire 3-9x30). For a half blind guy, I think I do OK. I'm not getting all my shots within a quarter or anything but generally within an inch or two. It's just recreational plinking for me. I also got an old Remington 582 (24" barrel) but it's just iron sights on that rifle so I pretty much only plink at distances under 25 yds. Still fun to shoot. Plinking with .22 is just so relaxing IMO. Just take your time and enjoy each shot. No rush and it's easier on the ammo budget.
That's great that you're still able to enjoy shooting. I agree, I don't have to be able to put 10 rounds through the same hole for it to be fun. I think the reason I like bolt actions more than semi-autos, is that they force me to slow down a bit more. Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching too!
I just bought one of these from a friend of mine for $150. It belonged to his aunt, who passed away and he said she never shot it. Judging from the way it looks, I don’t think he’s lying. It looks new. Thanks for doing a video on it. I haven’t seen many on RU-vid.
