I know! Isn’t it beyond sad that Levi Strauss has now become one of the wokest of the woke companies that wants to ban guns and believes that women are nothing but birthing persons and men can get pregnant😢😢😢
Great show. The 1873 is a pleasure to shoot. Mine was made in 1878. As a side note...when you do your intro and name famous folks from Tennessee maybe mention Larry Taylor. He was just awarded the Medal of Honor for his gallant actions as a helicopter pilot during the Vietnam war. He lives in Signal Mountain.
Dear Mr. Hickok, I've been a firearms enthusiast since childhood. I have a great love of all things cowboy and black powder. I am also a 2A supporter and understand how important it is that we continue to advocate against the eroding of those rights. But, sometimes I get fed with the forced politicization or guns, and just want to go hang out on the range and enjoy one of my favorite hobbies. Thank you for giving us all a place to do that and learn about the history of firearms. We are indebted to you beyond words. Much love to you and John for your friendship and all the work you do.
The rifle used in "Winchester '73", starring Jimmy Stewart, was actually a Winchester '73. The rifle that Chuck Connors used in "The Rifleman" was a Winchester 1892.
I remember seeing "Winchester '73" on the tv schedule decades ago. I set up the VCR but when I went to watch, it was some hideous remake. Thank goodness the original is available anytime now.
A very nice piece of functional history! I have a Uberti 1873 in 44 Magnum but my favorite load is a 200 gr cast bullet at 1100-1200 FPS somewhat close to a 44-40 load. Very fun to shoot and very accurate still carrying a nice wallop on the steel!
Evening,Sir. That Winchester is a gift from God, and the family that presented it to you. It was meant to be in your hands for all of us to enjoy. I too, was gifted one of those rifles at the ripe old age of 11 years old. I'm 60 now. And I don't really have any one worthy of that rifle to pass it on to. It's in 38 WCF. Made in 1893. XXX walnut, with a pistol grip stock, with crescent buttplate. Lyman peep sight from the factory on the tang. And case colored reciever. I plan to be in Tulsa in October, with that rifle, hopefully to pass it on to someone who can appreciate it as long as I have. The rifle is truly a work of art. Original. As it left the Winchester Factory in a completely different period of history, that I'm afraid this country will never have the opportunity to re live.
Got the Uberti, Miroku and one made in 1882. I’ll just say that the antique 1873 is a true work of art. And you can feel some real meaning when you handle it. Love my newer models for rapid firing and there’s nothing more fun. But firing an original in black powder 44-40 is an insane feeling!!!
So I just had on a movie called Strain 100 in the background while I was studying. I got up looked over and just saw you with a lever action killing some zombies. That was phenomenal! And you even plugged your RU-vid channel. Only reason I'm posting this here is because it's a lever action rifle you're showing. Well done sir, well done! I'm an even bigger fan now.
Thanks. Yeah, that was my Henry Rifle I took to Michigan for the filming. I thought it would look good on screen, plus it was a firearm that we could show empty cases ejecting without actually firing real ammo.
What a great rifle and video. My personal favorite Winchester is the '73. I have several original classics but I do not have a '73. I do have a repro but not an original. This is a beauty.
Very nice Commemoration of a real beauty. The Winchester 1873 is as iconic as they come. I certainly love my Rossi clone. Not exactly the same, I realize, but love it all the same. Thanks guys.
I had a Winchester 1873 in .38-40 once, made in 1892 and to this day I wish I had not sold that gun. I recently picked up an Uberti 1873 in .45 Colt that shoots really well, but it's not quite the same as shooting an original. I do have an original 1888 Trapdoor Springfield that's a lot of fun to shoot.
Beautiful rifle, great channel and anniversary of the 1873 Winchester along with my personal all time favorit gun, Colt single action army 45. it should get a big celebration in a lot of videos on youtube channels. I'm sure you think the same about the Colt as I do. Keep up the good work, loved your channel for 12/13 years. :D
Yes, I hope you've caught our Colt SAA 150th year celebration. We'll also get to the Trapdoor Springfield and .45-70 soon. What a monumental year for firearms and cartridges.
@@hickok45 Thanks for telling me about your Colt SAA 150th year video, I will watch it and give it a like. Trapdoor Springfield and cartridges too, yes 1873 is indeed a year to remember when you love old guns like we do. I'm 26 years old from denmark and hope to come to your country someday, it is just better when you love history, guns, beatiful nature and freedom. greetings to you from here and thankyou for your reply sir.
One was featured in the great Western _Hostiles_ , carried by Christian Bale in the role of Captain Joseph J. Blocker. His, of course, was an Uberti carbine version.
I watched "The man that shot Liberty Valance" again yesterday. For many years I wondered why the Doc had not figured out that Rance did not shoot Liberty. I thought it would have been obvious if a 30-30 round had hit him versus a 45 colt slug. Only recently did I come to the realization that the rifle was not a 30-30 but likely a 44-40 pistol caliber similar to the handgun cartridge and that is why it was not obvious who shot Liberty.
Great video as always! I've wanted to get an old lever action for a long time, and this video stoked my interest again! There's a gun show this weekend, maybe I'll see something good!
Most of us in the U.K. don’t get to see Winchester 73s in person, or ever expect to see one being fired, but as a child growing up in the 50s, and liking Cowboy Films, I certainly knew what one was! It was, of course, “The Gun that won the West”……
Like the inception of a 9,999 year lease in Lathom, Lancashire, where leaseholders elected a Bailiff to collect the profits from the Bailiwick (the agreement known as the Bailiwick of Bicester Market End), the Winchester makes a bold statement about the use of firearms.
Such a great gun, we actually have one being offered on consignment in the shooty shop I work in, granite state indoor range in Hudson NH. NOT a repro, the real deal, in very nice condition.
The greatest lever action rifle. A timeless classic that is very reliable, durable and robust, has a slick action, is easy to strip down and reassemble, and uses the same round as many revolvers. An effective 100 yard deer rifle that will take down larger animals if need be.
I really have to get one of them. I had a Browning BL92 in 44 Mag and had to sell it. I think Winchester has a pretty decent 92 lever action. I might have to go down that road. I love Lever Actions.
Old gun but so very nice and so verry cool like U.,very nice video.ur so lucky u have a nice old gun..just like u owesome old man but a truly sharpShooter.
Hopefully I am in this world to witness the 200th anniversary in the year 2073 it would be incredible and the best thing is that I would be the age of hickok or even older xd I was born in 2002 so it will be very nostalgic to see your old videos if youtube survives long enough🤠
I have several lever-action rifles myself I love them and also have the other kind AR and such and m1a and this variety of liever action rifles are mainly Henry's and the Marlin that was on by Badlands villalovoz be I bought beautiful have a 450 with a Anderson lower and Bushmaster it's a behemoth and I love it just like you love your guns
For the last four years I have been on a wait list for the Winchester Repeating Arms, Model 1873 Short Rifle, Lever Action Rifle, 357 Magnum/38 Special, my understanding is Cowboy action gun slickers are hoarding them up and reselling them. why Winchester won't ramp up production is baffling. I don't shoot CA so I don't need a slicked up one. just want a piece of history in a chamber that's affordable to shoot.
Hickok, that Winchester looks like it’s been taken so care of because I have an 1873 Winchester made in 1906 and it doesn’t look as good as that hahaha.
