I have truly loved my Wildcat so far. Zero ammo failures of any kinds, and I've ran 1500 rounds through it so far, with 4 different ammo types. I'm really impressed! I also mounted a red dot as well as a laser to it. The fact that I got the new suppressor-ready version is handy as well.
If this rifle takes off I can see a lot of aftermarket parts for this. The modular design really lends itself to that. BTW- Great video, and I gave your channel a shoutout on my Livestream last night. Us Buckeyes gotta stick together!
I just bought one yesterday and ran 500 CCI 36gr 1263 velocity rounds through it. I used a Ruger 10/22 magazine and a Winchester magazine with no stoppages or failure to feed or fire. The take down for cleaning reminds me of my M-1A or M-1 Garand, as the trigger group rotates out for cleaning. It is also very accurate.
It is a very nice rifle. The only problem I had was with the BX25 magazine, the regular 10-22 mags ran fine. Enjoy it, be safe and thanks for watching!

I had a lot of the same failure to feed issues with the bx25 magazine as well. I bought them in a 2 pack, 1 worked fine, the other was riddled with failure to feed issues but only for a couple hundred rounds. The failure to feed went away after the magazine got some use and everything smoothed out. Great video BTW.
Thanks for another great video. I also much prefer a rifle that takes down without tools. That's one reason I love the M16/AR15 so much. And dang, gotta LOVE that red box!
I ran another 250+ rounds through it this weekend without a single issue using only the Winchester and 10 round Ruger mags. It was VERY dirty but there doesn't seem to be any noticeable wear, I will try to do an updated video soon after about 1000 rounds or so.

Solid video 💪 I love your shooting gallery. my buddy picked up a wildcat today on the way to the range and I got to shoot it. Its a nice little plinker. I like the sights a lot. More than my factory 10/22 sights. I dont like the plastic receiver or the thin plastic bolt release though. Overall I still prefer my 10/22 over the wildcat for the same price, but I think Winchester did well with it.

@@SmallCaliberArmsReview I agree. I like the sights enough to make me look into peep sights on my 10/22. My eye just doesn't like to get a sharp focus on the brass tipped 10/22 front sight post. It's useable, I can still hit 10 for 10 on a 12 inch target at 100 yards with them, but they need to be upgraded for me personally. Realisticly wildcat's a range gun, maybe good for some hunting, and if your not beating it up too bad slipping and falling in the woods with it and dropping it and whatnot, i think it'll probably be fine for most people. Especially the ones who only shoot once in a while. That's my prediction. Either way I give props to Winchester for stepping out of the normal and making something so unorthodox in the .22 world. Only time will tell if it holds up. It does bug me that it's made in Turkey as well, not what I expected from Winchester. I didn't know they outsourced. The ExtarUSA EP9 9mm direct blowback firearm has an upper and lower similar to an AR-15 upper and lower. The upper and lower are polymer on the EP9. The bolt rides against the polymer. ExtarUSA even recommends no lubricant be used on the polymer. Many owners, including Chris from the Honest Outlaw channel and put many rounds through their EP9 with no excessive wear to the polymer or any other issues. The current version of the EP9 has a steel buffer retainer, trigger and safety. The only issues were the plastic versions of the parts in the prior version broke in some of the EP9s. There were no failures with the polymer upper and lower.
The 10/22 has been around for 60 years while other 22's riffles have come and gone. I think the Windchester Wildcat will get some aftermarket support but I doubt any firearm can overcome a 60 year advantage.

Picked one up couple days ago. It shoots incredibly fast once you get the trigger down. It's a very snappy shooting little gun. The plastic parts allow for very fast cycling. I threw a cheap red dot on it and made a paracord sling and it's barely 4 pounds. It's my favorite 22 rifle. My only problem is the first 3 rounds in the 25 round Ruger mag (the one in video). The first couple rounds in that mag don't want to feed. I haven't figured out why. Aside from that, it's been flawless.
@@SmallCaliberArmsReview I recall Paul Harrell had to stop loading one of his banana magazines at 22rds or he also experienced jamming/feeding issues, don't recall if it was a BX25 mag or not
BX 25's might have a spring tension or a lip problem because all the jams were somewhere in the top 3rd of the magazine. Try a 15 round magazine, less tension.
Hey great video! I was finally able to order one from my local store today. I've been looking forwards to it for sure because if the features. I'm not overly worried about all the polymer with it being 22lr, but you may be right that the upper receiver could be replaceable. Time will tell

I have the Rossi RS22 and I replaced the Stock with the aftermarket Folding Stock and it is easy enough to take apart except for the Bolt Spring but I mastered it the first time. I like this Wildcat very much but I would have liked to see more metal parts rather than all this plastic stuff. I'm sure that there will be many aftermarket parts to come including a Folding Stock! I would also like to see one of these in .22 Mag Round in the Future!
I thought the plastic would bother me too, but it seems to be holding up just fine. There aren't very many manufacturers that make a semi auto .22 magnum. They need to have a delayed blowback system for them to run reliably. Thanks for watching!
I think a lot of people are missing the point of this rifle. It’s a lightweight budget friendly 22lr rifle. It’s a great beginner’s rifle and an option as a survival rifle when weight is key. As for the all plastic, 22lr cal is little to no recoil and therefore the polymer parts should hold for a long time. If it was a bigger cal, it wouldn’t be a good option. I actually prefer this over the Ruger 10/22 basic model. I recommend cleaning this rifle before first time shooting as well as limiting mag dumps on it to help with longevity. Cheers.
I've not heard a single story yet about someone "wearing one out". There are a lit of firearms made with polymer that haven't worn out just yet, look at the Nylon 66. I do agree with you on the beginner rifle comment, it'd be a great choice at a good price. Thanks for watching!

I have no problems with firearms from Turkey. They have been making firearms there long before my ancestors learned to read and write. Regarding this one, this is a very slick design. Per the manual, you should buy a spray can of polymer safe solvent to use with this. The polymer is a good stiff abrasion and chip resistant polymer. This is not the polymer used at High Point. There are several models now, including threaded muzzle and Strata Camo. The barrel is so free floated that instead of fitting a dollar bill between the muzzle and stock you can fit a wad of twenties between them. A few people have reported issues with the peep sight not staying in place, Paul Harrell was extremely offended by the failure of the peep sight. I'm older and can't focus on front sights, so I put a rimfire scope on mine, so I wouldn't know. The Picatinny rail is pretty solid and seems to hold a zero pretty well. I've had no problems with CCI minimag, Rem Golden Bullet and Winchester lead round nose fed from BX-25 mags and the Winchester 10 round mag. My wife and I will probably put five thousand rounds through this before one of the grandkids inherits it. Before I do that I'm going to hid a special treat in the hollow buttstock, maybe a stack of twenties..
You are correct, they've been doing it for a while. The FrogLube I used on mine shouldn't have any affect on the polymer, it's all FDA approved ingredients. I like scopes myself, I can still see fine at distance, and even better with a scope. I like the Wildcat, I feel they are very well made rifles. Thanks for Watching!
I bought one last year because the 10/22 I purchased was damaged and the manager at Bass Pro allowed me to exchange it. But, there was no more 10/22 Rugers left and the other .22 rifles were not close in price (gun money was tight that that week because I bought a Ruger .308 as well). I really only got it because it takes the Ruger mags, top rail and small bottom rail. I also wanted to see how a plastic .22 rifle would hold up. I have had feed issues with the bx mags as well but if you only put 20 in them, they seem to work ok. 10 rounders are no problem at all. The rear sight is kinda sucky and I can't get it adjusted to hit anything accurately after 30 yards or so. I am going to put a cheap red dot or scope on it soon. I just got done taking it down almost down to individual parts and I would not recommend it. I am just going back to spraying some Ballistol is it, hitting all the nooks and crannies with pressurized air, oiling the parts and that will be it. Thanks for the video!

I would like to run a couple thousand rounds through it, just to see how it holds up. I've only had about 600 through it so far and I don't see any noticeable wear yet but, 600 isn't very many. I might try doing some "Live Streams" from the Saloon in the future!
I think Ruger on their polymer framed pistols did not use any steel inserts for the receiver rails. Usually no complaints about the durability of Ruger pistols. So perhaps the polymer receiver will work out fine. A few bricks of 22 should show if there's a wear problem. Also, as much as I hate to say it, the Turks put out pretty tough guns.
Excellent video. I am looking for an inexpensive rifle to keep around the house just in case I need to fire off a bunch of quick rounds, when my Glock 27 isn't accessible. Love the easy break down and cleaning. My only concern is the jamming issues you had with this rifle. Have you continued to have jamming issues with the 25 round mag?
I haven't used the BX25 after this video, I just stick to the factory Winchester mags and the 10/22 mags. I'm pretty sure the issues were with the 25 round magazines and not the rifle. Thanks for watching!
Mossberg has an all plastic .22 rifle like this for around the same price. I'm pretty sure it's called the blaze. I know that gun gets good reviews so you might not need a metal receiver for .22. A side by side comparison would be awesome.
It's all good & smooth when new, shortly thereafter my "All good" feeling was gone. A polymer stock Ruger 10/22 is only a few dollars more. Get the Ruger!
The RUGER is a PROVEN if not an old design......for gods sake they have been around for decades and still don't offer a last round hold open ? I bet you now they will come out with one......resting on their laurels for too long.
I'm not much of a fun gun guy, and I'm not in a situation where I can do a lot of plinking, so keep that in mind, but I just don't understand what this thing is for. The Ruger 10/22 makes perfect sense as a reliable, tried and true .22 rifle for small game hunting/pest control, plinking, practice, etc. and theres a version for everybody. This just seems like a less modular version of the 10/22, but its toolless disassembly. I'm not sure the cost of it but I know for sure I can get a 10/22 for cheaper. I dont know of it's meant for precision but I know the 10/22 has the aftermarket to support it being a precision platform. Not trying to destroy the gun, or anything lol just dont know why someone would want it outside of what is essentially a time saving feature.
The whole selling point for me was the tool-less take down (and I'm trying to do a gun review channel). Once I got it home and looked at the construction, I was less than impressed myself. There are people that are "Brand Loyal" and swear by one manufacturer over all the others, maybe they're trying to capture that market. I'm not a 10/22 purist, I prefer Savage rifles actually, but in the field of semi auto .22s, I like the Marlin better. I paid $220+tax for the Wildcat, so it's in line with the 10/22, roughly.
Probably because people in America think they need to make 20+ an hour for menial jobs and the cost and quality would make it too expensive to produce here.
Got my Wildcat yesterday and with your Great Video that pretty much covered the whole rifle I got it cleaned up and ready to Test. I will keep an eye on that receiver though. One more thing: Why the heck are they (Winchester) putting their logo sticker on the barrel? It could have been on the stock instead of. Just Sayin
That's awesome! Thanks for the compliment! I believe the reason it's on the barrel is for marketing. When you walk into a gun store, the rifles are usually standing upright on a rack, the top side of the gun will be pointed toward the wall leaving the underside toward the customer. If the sticker was on the side of the stock, it would be aimed at the rifle beside it and make it harder for the customer to see. With the Wildcat, there's not much surface area on the side of the buttstock to put a sticker anyway! Thanks for watching, be safe and enjoy your new rifle!
I am a little disappointed in Winchester for the poly reciever.Aluminum can't be very much more expensive,and i believe folks would be willing to pay slightly more.But I am 50,so....
I have always liked firearms made of metal and wood but as materials evolve, we can work around problems that are encountered with traditional materials. I was really excited about the Wildcat up until this video. I really like many of the features that the rifle has. I think it using 10/22 Magazines was probably the smartest thing Winchester could have done. I had no idea about the Upper being plastic, Maybe it will hold up very well but who knows, Maybe it will get the same treatment the 10/22 does and someone will make an inexpensive Aluminum receiver. Honestly the Plastic upper isnt my biggest gripe! It being made in Turkey is.
Why do so many people have a problem with guns made in Turkey? If its because they are anti Israel, and a radical Muslim run govt than yeah I can see the problem. I hate that also! However the Turks have always made high quality firearms, and for the one gun you may buy once in a lifetime that happens to be from Turkey than just buy it second hand if you don’t want your money going to their economy. Like I said though how many super popular guns would a person ever buy made in Turkey? 1 maybe?!! I have a Turkish made over under 12ga. I picked up for less than $375 out the door and it is a beautiful gun. It has an engraved receiver and all. If I tried to buy a benelli of this quality it would cost over a thousand bucks used. Anyway that’s my opinion. Ultimately I could live a perfectly fine sporting life without the country of Turkey.

Man great review I personally will not buy one to much plastic in it looks cheep and it will not last in my opinion I got out my Remington model 24 this last weekend that gun is old and is a dream to shoot I don't think Winchester made a good move on this one
How and the heck did you get that????! I have been calling Winchester since Shot Show 2019 every two months and all I got was BS and promises. All that plastic scares me a little. It sure doesn't look like my Vector 22 or my Tippman M4 Elite pistol, but then again the price isn't the same. I watched the second video (Wildcat Update! Excessive wear on the polymer receiver?) first. I think watching both videos in either order will give someone good information if they were trying to decide if they wanted this rifle.

I have a Nylon66 that's held up for a few decades. I imagine the factory did way more extensive testing than I did and with todays technology, I'm sure they got it figured out. I still prefer the look and feel of traditional materials for firearms. I usually read and respond to all the comments, I like to see what the viewers have to say, both good and bad! I did not measure the pull weight, I really need to get a scale so I can provide that information but it seemed to be really close to a factory 10/22 pull.
Yeah I thought I wanted one until I seen all of the Polymer aka plastic and that ended that. I'll look at the ruger. Does anybody think that bolt will not wear out plastic rails? I know manufacturer's have to save a few bucks but damn plastic reciever? Come on metal wouldn't have cost too much more and would've last alot longer.

Generally how loud is this? Around 14:30 you were firing "indoors" but you had earplugs. Could you have fired without earplugs and still felt alright? Or would it be quite loud for that?
I would not do it. There are lots of people that shoot .22 without hearing protection and although it might not give you that instant muffled ringing, it will cause damage. Hearing damage is cumulative and even that little "Pop" from a .22, over a period of time, can be damaging. Don't let anybody try to shame you for wearing ear pro, nobody's ear drums are "Tough". @@SmallCaliberArmsReview All sounds like solid advice. I am thinking of this as a secondary / backup home defense option. With little kids and several small pets, I find the bigger calibers have way too much bang and I'd prefer to not expose them to that. I have two 9 mils, they are way too loud. I'm worried about the kids and pets.
If I'm in a home defense situation, I'm not going to be looking for my ear pro, but you are going to do less damage to your hearing with a smaller caliber. Remember, shot placement is everything!@@vectorvictor5699
I have the Wildcat, but I don't have a 10/22 yet. Just wondering if the magazine from the Wildcat will work in the 10/22 and if so, does this include the last round hold open?
It is a "self loader", or as the industry calls them, "semi-auto" or "auto loading" rifle. Will it auto load if it's dropped on it's buttstock? I don't know, but I've heard a rumor that most of them will, if done from a sufficient height. Just the nature of the action would probably make it possible for any semi auto firearm to load itself if it were dropped.

I don't think any of the locked breech autoloaders ( AR-15, AK, rotating bolt, gas or recoil operate ect.. ) have this problem, and most military blowback weapons ( uzi, h&k, m3 grease gun ect.. ) have some sort of lock to prevent the bolt from slopping about. The only .22 autoloaders I know of that have a locking mechanism to keep the breech shut are the old savage and stevens M67 [gill guns] that have a locking bolt that can also be used as a manual loading rifle. Anyhow I thank you for the video.
Ahh, yes, something with a locking bolt may be a different story. Most of those require gas to "unlock" the action by the means of a rotating mechanism of some sort. I would imagine anything that is considered a "direct blowback" design, would suffer the dropped gun scenario. @@robertbean8116
My Wildcat has a problem ejecting the Ruger 10rd rotary magazine, don’t know why. Other than that, I’ve had zero problems with the Winchester rotary mags. Anyone else use a different 20 or 25 round mags for the Wildcat without issues? Any updated Video on your polymer concerns with your Wildcat?
@@SmallCaliberArmsReview One would think those parts need to be metal for durability but polymers if done correctly can be very during and have the advantage of being very light weight. The very popular ExtarUSA EP9 is a 9mm blowback firearm that looks similar to an AR-15 but it is a 9mm caliber firearm. It has been out for years with no reports that I have seen regarding excessive wear or damage to the polymer upper or lower. The only parts that were known to fail were the plastic fire control group the the buffer retainer tab. Both are now made out of metal in the current version that was released in February. The fire control group are Mil spec AR-15 parts so one can upgrade to most of the available AR-15 triggers. Chris from the Honest Outlaw channels had done several reviews of the EP9 and it has been in several of his best top 5 to 10 lists for PCC's and other categories possible. He always praises it when he talks about it in any video.
Guess I didn't word that the way i meant as no one can read my mind. Less expensive to me doesn't really have a $ dollar amount. In this instance i dont want to rebuild the rifle with a new trigger, barrel, stock, and sight. Im trying to find something out of the box that I like. "Like" is difficult to put words to.

@hancock63 The Wildcat Mag will fit into the 10/22, the reliability is an issue though. I just went out and ran a few rounds through the 10/22 with the Wildcat mag. I had at least 4 feed issues with each magazine, I ran 30 rounds through it. The Wildcat runs great with the 10/22 mag.
I never did a 100yd accuracy test with the Wildcat, just a reliability test at the 100yd range at the steel target. I may have to do one in the future. Thanks for watching!
Those are very different rifles. The Little Badger is a single shot, folding rifle, and the Wildcat is a semi-auto rifle. I guess it would depend on the situation, but I think I'd rather have the Wildcat.

Have you ever disassembled the lower assembly like firing pin and springs? I did and something is not functioning properly. I cannot find any diagrams or videos on anyone taking it apart. Also, once I get it repaired and working, would you or anyone you know be interested in buying it? I prefer my other .22s like my pump action Remington. Thanks man
Get a Ruger 10-22 & be done with it. A receiver that flexes! Not on my rifle. Call a Winchester Jam O Matic! You could have shot some groups @ 50 yds so we could see if it groups. I bought a $99 Rossi; it runs like a stallion.
I have a couple 10-22s, not my favorites but they work well. I did 2 videos on the Winchester Wildcat, it also works well, no problems at all. Is it a precision rifle? not really but, it is a very good shooter and way more accurate than I am. Thanks for watching!
28:02 - Alright, first I want to state that after one day out with the Wildcat I feel like I got conned by a *sharp looking* .22 to waste my money on a cheap plastic throw-away. 1. Magazine is problematic, after only 4-5 magazine loads it wouldn't allow 2nd round to be loaded without *forcing* a roll of the knurled gear at the magazine rear 2. Bolt hold-open failed more than it worked 3. Removing & replacing receiver group felt like it's being forced near the point of breakage 4. Rear sight does not have enough adjustment track for raising it high enough for even 200 yard shots with High velocity or Hyper velocity ammo 5. Trigger feels clunky & cheap 6. Last round (#10) failed to feed 7/10 times 7. Magazine is clunky & clumsily hard to get seated - and that's from only my first day out having fired only 206rds out of a 250 box of Aguila 1255fps 40gr copper washed round nose, and 30rds of CCi Velocitor.
Wow, that's insane. I didn't have any issues with mine. I don't think Winchester designed the Wildcat to be used much over 100yds, not saying it can't be done, Mark and Sam after Work stretches a 22lr out to 1000yds. I'm sorry you're having issues with it, mine has been pretty much trouble free. I am not sponsored by Winchester is any way either.
It's the only one I had any issues with. It is a Ruger mag and I'm using it in the Winchester, it's designed to use them but I don't remember having any issues with it in the 10-22. Thanks for watching!

I prefer steel and wood over plastic, but don't let this one fool you, there have been a lot of positive comments about the Wildcat. (I've always like the Marlin Model 60 better than the 10/22 personally) Absolutely nothing wrong with a 10/22 though!
Winchester continues to devolve. Since they no longer build any firearms in the USA, perhaps they should change their motto to "Winchester, the gun that shunned the West".
Sadly, Ruger and Smith & Wesson are about the only "Big Guys" left manufacturing firearms in the United States. Yes, there are others but they keep dwindling. Thanks for watching!
