Existential Crises 101: When you literally ARE your best friend.

Saddest half-twist ever.

This is kind of depressing. Wind wanted to meet Mr. Ug only to realize he's just her upside down.

what a depressing twist.... ....or should I say half-twist ?

I remember watching this when I was little and crying for how unfair it was for poor wind not having a real friend. Its so sad.

Next time someone asks me "How are you" I'll reply "Nom in' life nom".

I love how when Wind was going to Mr. Ug’s house, you said “With all the swiftness of Hermes,” however when Wind was walking the OTHER way you said, “With all the swiftness of Mercury” nice little detail

"With the swiftness of Hermes" "With the swiftness of Mercury" "She had never seen [beet Peel Store] open" "[Beef Beer store] seemed to have closed long ago" Vihart you are so clever

Wind runs along the half of the strip until she gets to the part where the two loops touch, and she jumps to the other side. She gets her dog, and wonders where mr ug was. Then, she peers over the edge and sees all of the things on her path that she usually had used to get to mr ug s house. She sees all of the familiar things, and realizes the truth. She then makes a rocket ship and flies with her dog to another Möbius strip where another triangle by the name of Mr Ug was also flying off of his Möbius strip with his pet cat. They meet in the middle, and both stop flying towards each other and start flying together. They both fly towards a stray hexaflexagon and land, planning to live there. They live on the hexaflexagon getting resources from the worlds under the three flaps. They also meet square friends with unicorns and jackalopes. They live happily ever after :)

That's sad, Wind was all alone this whole time.

Halfway through the video i finally realized it's a Möbius-Strip.

That little line about Wind having fallen off of the flat place she grew up added so much

Seeing how the story's gone so far, I'm guessing it ends with Wind never finding her dog but instead finding one that looks exactly like a mirror-image of it and adopting that instead.

I watched this when I was young, and before I understood what a Möbius strip was, so young that the idea of Wind loosing her dog was vary sad to me. Traumatized and desperate to find out what happened next I made a Möbius strip and cut it in half and was able to be happy again.

Great job, mathematics has a way of telling the loneliest story every told.

The question is, if its just wind in her world, where did the dog come from, i mean, was it just running around and she never noticed it?

8 years ago my math teacher showed this to me and I watched it all the time. Today I remembered this story and had to find it to watch it again. This made my day. I hope you are still doing great and creative things.

This is such a cute little story! Many here are sad for Wind, which I understand, but I hope she recognises how good she was to herself, that she's her own best friend... and she still has her dog!

I remember watching this at age 9 and being devastated for days about the ending to this video. Even now 10 years later i remember everything about this little story

omg I just realized that Mr rug doesn't even exist. his name is only a reflection of hers and so is his house to hers. so basically she really is all alone in her world only holding on to someone that isn't even there.

That is a genious use of a mobias strip

i thought this was going to be a sad story but then a dog appeared, and even though the world split. they are still knotted together so the worlds can only go so far apart... as far as seeing her dog again, unless wind can see in the 3rd dimension, no. she'll only see slices of the world as she looks out across the border and maybe a full view every once in a while when the planes become parallel, like an eclipse of sorts. which is kind of somberly wholesome? idk, better than her realizing she's alone.

The way you set it up is so smart ! Its hard to explain but very smart!!!

For those who are worried about how lonely Wind is going to be: The story includes a brief reference to Flatland, which comes from some math book that describes two-dimensional beings who discover the greater, three-dimensional world. Wind originally came from Flatland! She just happened to fall onto her Mobius strip. This means two things: 1. Wind's Mobius strip is somehow connected to Flatland. 2. Travel between two-dimensional worlds is possible. With these in mind, Wind does not have to be trapped at all-- she just has to jump off the Mobius strip at the right time to travel to a new, totally different two-dimensional world!

Oh, Wind. You just wanted a friend.😭😭

Took me so long to figure out this was a Mobius strip

i remember watching this before and recently i randomly remembered about it's existence so now i'm here again

so, while the little world was splitting apart, Wind realize that she was Mr.Ug, and she felt something brake inside her, 'cause now she knew she was alone this hole time. So she jumped to save her dog, the only thing that was left, crying in fear, but she fell. Just joking, the dog grabbed her hand, revealing that he was Mr.Ug the hole time, a beautiful square. Wind and Ug built a lot of bridges to connect the worlds, fell in love and now they are a happy couple with 2 children, circle and rectangle. That's it.

Awh, I remember watching this as a kid and now I know the words are able to be read upside down a minute in... Still so intriguing and creative! What a cute story. :) And I just find it impressive how they can get the words to be read either way haha.

She'll realise that Mr. Ug was always only a half twist away from reality.

When you cut a Mobius strip all the way down the middle, it becomes two-sided. So that means Wind will never see her dog again. They’re stuck on separate sides of the Mobius strip.

The saddest thing was that Mr. Ug never existed. It was just Wind alone in her little world. ;'C
