Just want to take a minute to thank you for doing this instruction video! I have it saved so I can refresh my memory because I don't sew on a regular basis. This is the best and clearest instructions I have found! Thank you so much!!❤
Thank you 🙏 I’ve been looking everywhere for a guide for this type of singer and have been struggling. I’m learning how to sew basically on my own so this helps a tremendous amount! Thank you
My new-to-me 15-91 arrives shortly and this is a wonderful video (as are your other 2) about the little things so necessary for success. Thanks for making these!
According to the original Singer instructions for the 15-91, the recommended way to thread the bobbin case is with the "thread on top drawing from right to left", see page 11 (13 on pdf) and figure 7.
I picked this 49 singer up alittle over a year ago for a vintage touch to put my patches on my riding vest. Did a great job til the bobbin ran out. No problems til I have to put the bobbin back in and go though the hole. Thank you for making this video!!
@@MrMyname18 is the issue when you first start sewing? If so are you holding your "tails"? Before you begin the first stitch hold the extra top and bobbin threads, keep hold of them for the first ~3 stitches until the threads are locked in. That should prevent pull out.
@Lindsey Thompson yes I'm aware, It happens a couple in to 10 in its different stitches. It's not pulling the tails through I'm familiar with that, it's cutting the tread off as it comes though the fabric like the thread is too tight but appears loose
@@MrMyname18 hmm. Well this sounds more complicated there are a few things I'd check 1. The hook and needle plate for burrs that might be cutting the thread. 2. Verify that the needle is the correct size for your thread. 3. You mentioned you were sewing patches. If your using a low quality thread it could be cut from the friction of being pushed through the material
Hello I have this machine as well and do al the maintenance mostly by myself threw the original book and video's like yours here. Could you make a maintenance video for machines like mine that get daily use I could not tell you how much I would appreciate that!! I do care for my machine the best I know how from self learning and reading but You have up close detail and slow explanations that are just so helpful!! I would truly be grateful!! Thank you for teaching me the correct way to put my thread now!!
Thank you. I frequently forget how to do this and have to go through several trial and errors and mistakes until I get it right. 😂 this is a great step by step instruction and just the reminder I needed. ❤
Oh God.. I'm so glad to find this video.. Hi is the first time in your channel... A friend of mine find and gift to me a Singer machine that only said under her Made in China 15 CH... I really want to use the sewing machine but when I try the tension is to much in the upper thread that broken easily.. Really don't know what to do because I only know the basics to use a sewing machine that I learned myself watching videos. Hope you can understand all my bad english... hahaha.. Blessings..
This was an amazing video--great photography with excellent close ups and clear instruction. I really like the beautiful wooden base/case for your machine. May I ask where you got this case? Thanks!
Hello, Great, well explained video and thanks for sharing with us!! My mom has a similar machine and the rubber wheel that spins the rod to the empty bobbin won’t spin. I replaced the rubber wheel and oiled the assembly ( which was hard to turn ), but is better now. It seems to be making contact, but just doesn’t spin to thread it. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
It sounds like there is an electrical short. The machine and pedal should be re-wired before further usage. A local sewing machine repair shop should be able to do this for you
Great Video! Just wondering if you know if a 1950 Singer EGO26341 Blue and Gold Badge Centennial machine made in Clydebank Scotland is a valuable machine, something special, or worth restoration. Any advice would be much appreciate. Cheers!
Hi Lindsey! LOVE your videos. I have a 15-90 that I bought used because I learned to sew on my mothers YEARS ago. Mine has a foot pedal which I don't like as much as my mom's which was operated by pressing your knee against a drop-down lever, if that makes sense. I have two questions if you have time and inclination to answer. 1) Do you think it would be possible to replace the foot pedal with a knee one at a repair shop AND 2} Do you know of any mechanical reason why my machine won't fill the bobbin more than about half full? I know I'm doing it correctly and I've tried more than one different bobbin just in case that was the problem. I'm stumped. You're a gem! Thanks so much.
Literally can’t see how you’re the threading the bobbin, so far from the camera or with hands in the way. Guess there’s a certain amount of foreknowledge assumed 😅
Can you please tell me where to get needles that thread from the side instead of the front. I'm having trouble finding them. My machine won't sew at all and I think that is the problem. Thank you.
The needles are standard 15x1 sewing machine needles. And are available at any craft store or online. The difference is how you install them. The should be installed with the flat to the left
So I got mine all threaded but my bottom stitches are just a straight line? My top stitches are great but how do you make the bottom look like the stop stitching?
