Order this blade here:www.kultofathe...
The Ulfberht Sword features engravings on both sides of the blade exactly as the original. The blade is unsharpened high carbon steel and beautifully balanced. The grip is wood wrapped with leather. The stout crossguard is steel, and the pommel is of the brazilnut shape that was quite popular at the time, both with Vikings and the rest of Europe. A beautiful and important sword. Includes a leather scabbard.

Your review, helped in my decision to purchase this sword. I ordered mine from Kult of Athena, and have received mine today. I am very satisfied with Kult of Athena's ease of purchase, fast sharpening and shipping, and cost. But, I would appreciate it if order tracking was available on the web site. I am very happy with the sword as a whole product. Very well made, and at a cost level that I am comfortable with. A great quality to price point for a sword that will not restrict it to a wall decoration and allowing some use, likely severe use. Plus, I love the history of swords, and this one has significant history behind it. It very closely resembles the Ulfberht sword on the PBS Nova show. Being a metalworker by trade. It is very clear to me that the 1065 material is superior to the crucible steel from that era, lighter too. I like everything about this sword. I do have some minor complaints. The sharpening service did produce a very nice, consistent and sharp edge profile, but did not produce an extremely sharp edge. While the sharpness is more than adequate for real battle and would sever limbs, I ran my fingers along the entire edge and did find some areas capable of cutting my fingers, I did expect much more sharpness. The sharpening service should have provided an edge that is as sharp as a standard modern hatchet at the hardware store, which it wasn't. I didn't expect it to be capable of shaving or paper cutting, since that would be extremely dangerous to an inexperienced sword handler. It seems that the pommel is too light. Is it hollow? The POB is 4-5/8", not 3-7/8". The sword feels as heavy as my Stainless Steel cosplay sword. I understand from the Nova episode that the signature should read +ULFBERH+T and that they believe the swords from that era with the cross after the T are likely copycats. I don't agree, the differences could mean anything. But Windlass made the sword read +ULEBERHT+ (note an E instead of an F on the 4th character) and that is just wrong. I bought it anyway, and I do really enjoy owning it. Thank you.

Knowing the inscription is wrong is putting me off somewhat 😒...is there anything positive for this mistake that could make me buy it now as u did? I like historically correct stuff and really like this sword

I have a 1065 sword and I can attest it's a flexible but tough and easily sharpened steel, good choice!

Why the wide pommel? Because you grip it by the pommel.

Why does the tatami in the cut tests always seem so dry?

Deepeeka Hersir would be good to see, Fafnir forge 9th century Viking age sword, Arms and Armor. I got a seax from you made by Tod Cutler, excellent by the way.
