Hi chris , I’m always happy to go the extra mile for decent hassle free customers who don’t expect it but I have got to the stage where I know when some1 is trying to take advantage and yes you definitely can start to spot potential red flag customers and it becomes easier to politely not take them on! Worthwhile video , all the best 🤙🏻👍🏻

I have a good relationship with some local guys offering different services so if a gutter is leaking I say I don’t do that I just clean them and give them the number of the gutter and fascia company I know and say to ring them That also gets me work from their customers when they are asked about conservatory roofs or pressure washing etc If I see a trade I don’t have a number for I always stop and have a chat and it is beneficial to both parties I now recommend decorators, plumbers, roofers etc and it helps to get more work yourself also The attitude is if I can’t do it I know someone who can for example a guy a few weeks ago who wanted fascia and soffits cleaning but the soffits were those fibreboard ones that soak up water and don’t clean up so now a decorator I know has done it for them Happy customer who has now got me fascia jobs with the neighbours Well worth the effort to stop for 5 minutes and grab a card off someone

Just had that situation with a very big house, I went in with the first clean price, they got back to me a week later to give the go ahead. Something didn’t sit right. I asked if they were signing up for the regular clean and he said let’s see how the first clean goes. A day later the wife text me to say it would be a one off clean so I told her the first clean price was a reduced price for customers signing up. If she wanted a one off then it would be more than quoted. She texted back to say they’ll just leave it. They obviously didn’t speak to each other before texting me. Also just binned 4 customers that were regular offenders with access and dog crap.

Ahh mate you do right. Nothing worse than reeling the line back in with a gift left for you...
@marcusherts9345
@marcusherts9345 Год назад
Easy way out of that mate, ALWAYS charge extra on first clean, Then you can reduce the price after they go for the regular, If they don’t, you’ve been paid the correct price, then move along..👍
@G71cleaningServices
@G71cleaningServices Год назад
@@marcusherts9345 I usually charge 2 - 2/12 times the regular clean price for a first clean. As of late I’ve had a few chancers saying they’ll sign up and don’t as it’s still cheap for a once a year shot. So for one offs I charge way more. If they bite fair enough if not no love lost.

I offer what I quote for and never go cheep in my quote. In fact I'm probably at the high end and the scale in prices with the exception of OAP's. I do deals for OAP's as there at an age where they can't do it there selves and feel I like to give back to them who have but in the system all there lives. I'm still building my round and don't what to be cheep because I don't what to wake up and think i don't what to do that job for that money.
@ChrisAddis
@ChrisAddis Год назад
That's fair enough, I'd just be careful that people of that generation don't see you as a soft touch and start to take advantage. Best of luck 👍

Thanks for the video Chris. I must be very fortunate because I haven't really experienced any of these red flags yet but at least I know what to look out for in the future. the only one that gets on my tits is when their jaw hits the floor and they spurt out "my last cleaner only charged "X" amount." Even if they accept your quote, you know in back off your mind that they are going to be looking for someone cheaper, no matter how good of a job you do. I have a few customers probably 4 or 5 that I have had since the day I started cleaning windows, they always love a chat always offer a tea in winter or a cold drink in summer and they never ask anything extra from me. These are probably the only customers I would do any extra work for if they were to ask, as long as it was a reasonable request. I already do little things for them off my own back as a thank you for the drinks and I don't even mention it, couple of weeds next to the front door I'll rip them out, wheelie bin has been emptied, I'll pull it back in behind the gate, an empty crisp packet blown in off the street and landed on the lawn, I'll pick it up and bin it. Just little things I know won't come back and bite me in the ass. I've found with most people you can get feel straight away if they are chancers or if they are going to be genuinely appreciative just by the way they talk to you.
@ChrisAddis
@ChrisAddis Год назад
I do the same with things like wheelie bins etc. But I draw the line at additional work that I would otherwise charge for, or that I wouldn't do due it nit being a service that we offer...there's always room to be a good person, just not a doormat

I had one Bloke looking for a quote to clean his windows. I told him £20 as they were difficult to clean at the back of the house. He said flipping heck that’s expensive so I said that’s fine we will leave it it there, then he said see all is guttering on this side, which was at least 40ft long, he wanted that cleaned too for £20. I said go and ask someone else and walked off

To your video there are many ways a customer can pull a fast one there are so many key words to look out for.I have had customers try and add work when I have already given them a price I just say this will be a little more because it's extra work.

I think some people are, definitely. Businesses as much as anything else are making savings and this will probably go on til around July/August. Most businesses will see a surge in trade and will want to have their buildings in the best shape for then. It's as varied as people are to be honest.

Don't let it bother you. Either they have it every 4 weeks or wr let them go. If they aren't fitting our customer profile no sense in keeping them on.
