Try opening Windows Tools from the start menu and then navigating to some other location in that window. They still didn’t fix that

10 was awfull in UI, in 11 it got a "little" better, but still, there are a ton of rough edges that needs to be adjusted and polished.

maybe if they hired a full development team to actually make the os good, instead of adding advertisements and spyware everywhere, the OS would actually be in a usable state. It's been nearly 2 years since this piece of junk released.

@@Ramonms98 the UI needs to be more “fluent”, colorful, and consistent. I’m glad the UI is less metro, but it’s still kind of bland. Plus, there’s still some legacy elements from the Vista/7 era.

Agree, edge is a piece of garbage and so of widgets. I wish that MS should remove both widgets and crappy edge altogether.

At least on the Edge homepage you can disable the news crap. And I have the widgets panel disabled altogether which is my preference anyway. W11 is actually my favourite version of Windows so far 😂

Microsoft has already confirmed that in an update later this year users will have the option to disable news in widgets

yes, the feed is full of shit with news ad i dont want to see the news everytime when i open, if it was only widget then it would have been usefull instead of news

Widgets as they are now in Windows 11 have reduced usability. Unlike the live tiles of 8/10 or the widgets on iOS, MacOS, Android that you can pin to the start menu and home screen respectively, the widgets of 11 are in a separate panel that is always 1 click away, that's not information at a glance. I wouldn't like to whine a lot about the missed opportunity of Windows Phone where all the icons were active with information and worked like homogenized widgets in much less space and with much better animation and you didn't have to constantly lower the "curtain" of the notifications shade... In the end Microsoft will bring back the gadgets we had in Windows 7 if I'm not mistaken and they will celebrate the new feature. Update: The notifications still appear in a clickable area!! So many accidental clicks so annoying...

@@therealb888 i know but i have seen programs that bring up the windows touch keyboard when there is no place to type, out of the blue like no need to type.

extremely useful for me too, i use controller companion for desktop browsing and i personally hate the layout for how on screen keyboard looks and feel and also steam in-app keyboards (which you can enabled on the desktop if you have set it up but the buttons just seems unnatural), much more fluid with the controller to type

You can partially address that by using a pirate version of Windows LTSC. It's not great but it's good enough for people to pay for it. That version is available only to companies who Microsoft fails to impress that the version they need is the standard Enterprise edition on the mandatory "LTSC consultation meeting", which is required before getting a license. Thus, the best thing that the individual consumer can do is to pirate it. That's a direct message to Microsoft that they are losing money and might cause some better business decisions in the future.

@æ Companies can make proprietary versions of Linux. Android and ChromeOS come to mind.

I understand why they're doing A/B testing, but it really makes no sense for major features in the Insider program to be honest. I think they should add an "Experimental features" section where you could override these features that are otherwise being rolled out. People already have a way to force them on if they really want to.

@@technofi2554 Well, even if I wanted to, this specific update can no longer be uninstalled. Going to settings, then searching for "uninstall updates", a very nice statement on the top states that "You won't be able to uninstall some updates", and of course this specific update I mentioned in my first comment is not among the four that can be uninstalled (KB2565063, KB5022497, KB5012170, and KB5026446)

mac os is good but apple dont care about the desktop os anymore.. and they are way more expensive just to look some fancy animations lol..microsoft knows all that and win 12 will be much more intuitive than 11.. but than again there is nothing wrong with win 11 it is a darn good platform..never crashed since i installed it

@@Richo5566 If MS cared about enviroment over money, they'd built systems based on making the hardware lifespan longer. Since the XP, they're focused only on making hardware becaming bottleneck in just few years. Also hardware vendors are equally big problem for not selling spareparts. My laptop is from 2012 and even with ssd and 16gb of ram, Windows10 is slow. It uses much more cpu and ram on idle than Linux. Still Linux is much faster on everything, especially launching apps.

MS should remove those widgets in the first place.

@@joshuahernandez-th6ov already tried linux for desktop and for my case, for my needs is it worse than windows, and it performance and battery life is better on windows. I already tried ubuntu, mint, pop os and honestly i really disliked how linux works.

@joshuahernandez-th6ov I've tried Linux as well. Linux just doesn't have the software support that PC has, and it makes a lot of things a hassle. Gor general purpose computing, I'd prefer something with the stability of MacOS and the software ecosystem of Windows. But here's to pipe dreams.
