I like these vids because your voice is very calm and collected, and you explain every detail in such a way that isnt overwhelming. Of course much of this video is for advanced users, but newbies can come here to easily master windows like butter
I wonder, on the hard drive, if the partition are like cake part, how the computer limited/separated them? The scary part is that on cmd prompt, the diskpart tool can modify the partition without telling the progress. Because it is on hard drive, I doubt they are format/rewriting/modify/corrupting the data on it. It's a benefice of an hard drive, it is mean for important data but the security is reduce cause they will jump over the restriction: it's still a disk. How many disk do you have?! It's on the same drive? That why there are multiple heads.
This demo was done with multiple virtual disk. The concepts do not change if you use physical or virtual disks in this demo. Diskpart is a tool that can do a lot of damage if you are not careful. Use with care. Double check you have the right disk and vol selected first. When I am removing partitions I will often remove all the other disks first before doing so. Hard disk nowadays are low level formatted in the factory. The OS does not reformat them, just decides where to put things on the hard disk. So it important to keep this in mind as formatting a drive does not remove the data on it. You need to overwrite it to get rid of it.

This is normal. Disk management uses a number of different colours to display information. If you have a look at the bottom of disk management there is a legend which displays them.

I have been looking for a way that you change it back into a primary partition. Is there a way to change it back from a simple drive back to a primary partition? Can someone please help?
No, RAID drives need to be configured from within the BIOS (Specifically RAID card interface) first before the operating system will see them for installation/usage.

+patrick Duga You can do this from within 'Disk Management'. To start: 1. Right click on the 'Start' icon and select Computer Management. 2. Under 'Storage' on the left side, you'll see 'Disk Management', click this. 3. Verify nothing is taking the 'D:' drive letter such as the CD/DVD drive. If so you'll need to change it, so perform step 4 on the CD/DVD drive. 4. Right click the 'E:' drive and select 'Change Drive Letter and Paths'. 5. Select 'Change' and select the drop-down after 'Assign the follow drive letter:' and select 'D:' (If available). It'll give you a warning that changing the letter might have ramifications but as long as nothing it dependent on the 'E:' drive like programs or library locations, you'll be fine. If you already have a 'D:' drive that's your CD/DVD, you'll have to change it around to a lower letter like 'F:'. Once done, change 'E:' into 'D:' and then the CD/DVD drive back from 'F:' to 'E:'.
Hi, I'm trying to find out if there's a way to simply transfer over storage space from my D; drive on Disk 1 to my C; drive on disk 0. I have Windows 10 and a brand new PC that was installed with very little space on my C; drive, which is inconvenient for me to have to move things such as my games and documents over now that I'm running out of room. From what I've seen from other tutorials, they already have D; drive on disk 0. Someone told me this is a hardware issue, and someone else said I need to install a program, which I highly doubt. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
+Ralphie_dude This is not that easy. The drive that you boot Windows from has limited options. You cannot add space from other drives. If you use a hardware option, this means you can combine multiple drives together and Windows can use the multiple drives as the one drive. However, to do this you will need to reinstall Windows.

There's two ways to do this. Problem is either you will be unable to do this with the operating system primary hard drive. First method is spanning the drives but you can only do that with non-primary hard drives such as those your using for storage as opposed to the operating system. Second method is creating a RAID 0 volume, though this depends on your computers capabilities, and will require you to use the BIOS and it will erase everything on the disks so if you want an operating system partition on two physical hard drives, you'll have to back up your data, boot the the BIOS/RAID utility, make the RAID 0 volume (which erases the disks in the initialization phase), then install Windows on the RAID 0 volume. This will enable you to take advantage of two physical drives.
