If you do not run VMWare (like the people in this video do) but you need to restore a dead server, you can see how it's done with this video. It might have been nice to see how a command line backup could be used for the complete PC recovery. Is that any different or does the command line (wbadmin.exe) make a recoverable backup image like the GUI does?
Hi, i think you miss some important info about Windows Backup on Windows 2008. It only can do a backup on a 512 bytes sector usb drive, usually all devices are formatted with 4096 bytes sector size. In my scenario i can only do a backup on local disk, not on a usb hard disk drive. Have you solve this issue? Thanks.
Very Nice video Thanks for The uploading i am having one doubt when i am creating backup i just want Exchange Mail server Data and active directory Data also should be included once we did back up or we need to do any External software's to take the EXCHng and AD Data if you provide me an reply much appreciated...thanks
Ravi Rebel I'm not sure I understand your question. I would backup more than just the data for Exchange as there's more configuration and account information you'll need on a restore. As always, try doing a restore to a test machine and verify your backups are working before assuming they are.
first of all thanks alot for this video...sir my question is can we make exchange server 2007 service pack 1 backup using windows server backup. because some one told me there is no plug-inn in exchange server 2007 sp1...we have to instal sp3 for this features..is it right.
What is best practice when doing a full backup of a virtual server? Do you use the bare metal restore option or are the lettered drives and system state sufficient? Thanks!
Kearl Hat I'm not sure, because I've seen it several ways. Your easiest solution would be to do a Windows Server backup of the entire system (including ?drive letters?). Other backup options have to interact with the virtual server software (are you using HyperV?).

Sir, we have this at school but for some reason i need to restore it to an earlier state (the original state when it first starts to run smoothly). Problem is, there is no backup image on internal drive (drive C: or E:). Now, what i have are backup on cds/dvds. I did tried several options available, even followed several tutorial on the web but when i run the recovery program and look for the image backup, the computer tells me that it has not found backup image. I tried loading the drivers, too bu to no avail. pls help me out on this. tnx!
Gahldro Chan You would have needed to have created a backup. If someone had run a backup, you would see that when you launched Windows Server Backup (in the Messages windows). It's wise to schedule a daily backup for your server, for example (depending on the environment/data transactions).
