Hello and evening from India Capt. I’m a newly type rated pilot and thank you so much for all your materials, you’ve been an amazing help and source of lovely humor. Being a newly rated pilot, my hands are often slightly hesitant and my movement isn’t smooth with procedures (and yes I know it comes with practice and experience) but I remember seeing one short video on instagram where the FO performed the After Start Flow so smoothly that I’ve been looking for videos where I can just watch the crew do the flows as they would on the job, no explanations, no slowing down, as an example of cockpit performance. Would it be possible for there to be multiple YT shorts of pilots doing these flows? Thank you once again, Godspeed sir.
PWS is dependent on Doppler Radar, not WXR Radar. The latter is only a guide to help you avoid weather that could be conducive to wind shear. Some weather Radars have turbulence and lightning detection but for PWS the Doppler Radar should be functional.
Vls - basically it’s the lowest speed that could be maintained by the autopilot. It depends on the slats/flaps configuration (1.13, 1,23, 1,28 etc, if above 20000 ft it’s 0,2 of buffet margin, on the approach not lower than Vmcl)
Hi Captain, what about MEMORY ITENS VIDEOS like, LOSS OF BRAKING, STALL RECOVERY, STALL WARNING AT LIFT-OFF, TCAS... once again, excellent videos for pilots doing the recurrent training.
It would work if the radar switch is off, but I don’t believe it would work if radar is not functioning since PWS uses Doppler shift to determine if there is windshear.
as I know, pws can still avail when radar off (but there will be an amber not on PFD to remind us). and we can never meet ground speed mini cause we cannot pass below Vls, right? thank you, cap!
Correct! PWS still available with radar off. I am not clear on your second question, groundspeed mini will allow the IAS to change according to the wind.
Does the Gs mini corrects the Vapp directly into the Vapp spd on PERF page and the correction depends on the wx at destination which we 've input into the PERF page? Or Gs mini corrects the Vapp by changing oftenly depends to the wind direction and velocity?( so the Vapp is not added by the Gs mini correction) btw thanks anyway captt!!
Good question Enrique, when you enter the tower reported wind in the PERF page, the computer will calculate the Vapp which is the minimum energy level the aircraft should have. Then on the approach the computer will then compute the speed(managed mode) based on the wind changes and will change the IAS accordingly.
Ohhh so the computer does this 2 things according to the wind reported by the tower(to have minimum VLS atm) and computer will changes the managed spd which is IAS according to wind direction and velocity...wahwahh thankyou captt have a great day!
