Yeppirs, the missing part is where the loop is pushed out -- actually, could be anywhere ...BUT... unit is installed where the rear view mirror was. hmmm, so if the loop ends up at the top, then it is pushed through at the bottom center of the windshield, pulled ALL the way around the perimeter, and --voila-- wind each side a bit at a time and done. (btw,what you don't see is the 170° heatgun following ahead of the cable to soften the bonding agent a bit 😉)

Safelite used this tool to remove the windshield from my 2011 Hyundai Sonata SE 2.0T about a month ago. So much easier than doing it the old fashioned way.

They’res a aftermarket windshield guy across town 79.99-99.99 installed for most cars. It’s a little bit cheaper quality but works , but better than 400.00 at the dealer.
Yep and every time the blade came through it scratched all the way around, and hopefully the customer can’t see the damage. Whoever did the jeep is cheap and wanted to save as much time as possible while damaging the pinchweld with an extractor
No more scratching to the bone. I assume the surface should be flat enough to re-glue the windshield. If not, I've scraped gasket off aluminum surfaces and know that with everything clear, the gasket can be removed gently without scratches. I really like that tool. Nice job and great video, thanks.
Cool.....I remember pulling at least 200 windshields when working at the wrecking yards. I remember busting my knuckles when pulling the wire back and forth. And if i didn't pay attention at the corners, the wire would cut between the two layers of glass. This looks a tad easier.😊
I use to install windshields back in the 70-80s and I had to cut it out with a pull handle knife This makes the job so much easier I could do it now at 67 and even setting the new windshield even easier than by holding it by hand and arm strength

Aquí en México es mas rápido y barato, con solo un hilo de acero y dos personas uno a fuera y otro adentro van cortando el sello y ya con las ventosas quitan el parabrisas. Lo mismo pero mas económico.
I think the idea is to make some sort of gap the usual way someone would go about removing a windshield, a gap large enough to pass that string through, then ifs smooth sailing.
