I grew up in LA and MS. Been to these places many times. We frequently visited Vicksburg Battlefield Park. My father took it as a kind of pilgrimage since he had relatives who fought there. He and my mother met at The Blue Cat at Natchez Under the Hill. They used to go there to watch Jerry Lee Lewis sing and play piano there in the 50's. They got married at the First Presbyterian Church in Port Gibson. I remember climbing the levee in an old 1965 Dodge Dart. It was so steep It seemed like you'd fall off backwards into the river. When you had to stop at the red light it was like waiting to be launched into space. So much history here. So many memories.

That area is actually south of the MS Delta and is located on the bluffs. As a student of Alcorn back in the day, there used to be an old slave quarters in the back left corner of Windsor. Love that you included the stairs and balustrades. Good video

Hi Keith and Teena. These are beautiful pillars. This is real history and then that tree, wow. I had also taken some close-ups of it on the side where that structure is so beautiful. This is a tree with a story, beautiful, my friend. The photo, the view through, is really very beautiful and especially good. But good old Hasselblad still knows what a good photo should look like. It remains, at least for me, a special camera. There are plenty of photo opportunities in this deserted town. What you did at that house, a detailed photo of the window, that's what I want to do now. I've been out a few times already and I must say it gets better and better each time. I have put some pictures on my website. I remember that T max can be used well in hard light from the time I worked with film. What a story attached to that church. These are the stories that make a documentary/vlog so special, my friend. The fact that Teena takes over part of the video work is certainly an addition. Now we see you at work and I have to be honest Teena knows how to handle the video camera. Thank you, Keith and Teena, for this nice video. I enjoyed watching it again. Antoine.

Thanks for the nice words about Teena. I showed your comments to her and it made her happy. I enjoy having her join me on the trips and she enjoys helping me cover the locations! Often she sees things that I miss. I'm glad to hear that you are enjoying your outings! I think you will find a groove and it will become very natural over time.

I noticed some fierce kudzu when the video was beginning. Best not stand still too long near it, or you may never be seen again!

It's a pretty crazy drive! It feels like driving back in time and in some places it almost feels sunken.

I have to be honest and confess I know little about photography but I really enjoy your videos. Along with the amazing photographs, I feel I am learning so much about the social history of USA, which I find so interesting. Thank you for sharing your talent and knowledge with me. :)

Well, I definitely visited Rodney at the wrong time of year. I was there on April 16, and could not be out of my car for 10 seconds before the bugs and insects were just swarming around me making it absolutely miserable. Needless to say, it rather hampered any photographic opportunities. Also, the road was so wet and muddy, that I didn’t dare try to drive it with my car. All that water must have contributed to the growth, though, everything is much more overgrown now than it was when I was there.

Yes I was there in winter last time and was lucky that it was dry enough to drive and walk, and without all the foliage I was able to walk up to the old Baptist Church. I wonder if -- with all the No Trespassing signs -- maybe the locals are allowing it to grow up to dissuade visitors.

Odd how the Rodney Story of the Sunday Services mirrors that of Randolph, Tennessee, the contender to Memphis for "the Port City", made a Ghost Town the day of the event, without lingering hope.
