Chapeau, Henry! An epic adventure. I remember Guy Cribb and Antoine Albeau crossed from France to England about 15 years ago, but there were two of them and they had a support boat. It just shows you what you can do with years of building knowledge, experience and ability. Windsurfing isn't just about the PWA and blasting along at 30+ knots feet away from other racers. They are the jetskis to your cabin cruiser. Windsurfing is fun even in lighter winds when the challenge can be getting from one place to another and overcoming adversity. Don't get me wrong - the PWA folk are amazing, but windsurfing can be so much more. Well done! I am very much looking forward to your next adventure, but it's OK if it's not as scary as this one 🙂

Absolutely Brilliant. Not a challenge to be taken lightly, by any stretch, with lots of curve balls to deal with and a good quota of plan B's. A true inspiration to anyone set to embark on an expedition or risky adventure showing knowledge and professionalism will reduce your risks and help you achieve. Thanks for all the effort to allow total strangers to share your experience 👏👏👏

This has to be one of the best videos I’ve seen on RU-vid this year. Your knowledge of the conditions and geography of the English Channel was impressive and informative. Your enthusiasm was infectious. Inspirational is the word that comes to mind. Well done for putting together these 3 videos . The world needs more people like you. Best of luck mate. Look forward to your next adventure. Btw I’ve shared this to a few like minded pals.

Well... I'm a retired windsurfer, have sold my equipment years back and I agree that light wind is scary and heavy wind is scary too, the sweet spot in-between never lasts long! On a long haul you don't have the luxury to change sail surface so you must know your capabilities very well and pray that the weather forecast is good. This crossing unassisted is a great achievement, congratulations. I watched the complete series about your trip, very well made and again bravo!
@Str8representing
@Str8representing 11 месяцев назад
Why light wind is scary?
@MissileGuidance
@MissileGuidance 12 дней назад
@@Str8representing In windsurfing, a threshold amount of wind is required to power the sail enough that you move. As you can probably imagine, getting stuck out to sea might not be a healthy habit

Great achievement, really enjoyed watching your adventure. There is something unique about Longboard Windsurfing - it is somewhere between sailing and recreational watersports. If I went back to windsurfing I would probably want to try longboarding again since it has a totally different quality to kitesurfing.

I was not aware of the Varne Bank. Here is a position where the depth is only three meters : 50°54'19.10"N 1°20'23.71"E It's right in the middle of the channel. Crazy. There is a light vessel on the Varne Bank to protect boats.

Great job. & a fascinating watch. summed up the complexities of the sporting / adventurers mentality.... simultaneously trying to stay focussed , but also remembering to enjoy it too. that early cramp must have been a bit concerning, but it's like the typical FA cup final cramp that they always used to talk about... nervous energy...you need it to fuel you, but it can get in the way too, especially unsupported you can't just have a lie down for 2 mins and call the physio on. Congrats again !
