Windy Maps is probably one of the best GPS navigation app on the Google Play and App Store. Best of all it's free! You can download free offline maps create and save routes, record you trips and the UI looks fantastic and very easy to use. Watch though the whole video to understand thw full potential of what this app can do for you.

Great review! Another thing for the future is also start at stop both tracking og navigation in the same function. Now this is divided at difficult to rember to do it.

One of my favorite features in the off-line mode is that it can direct you with follow lines.

I have a problem: when trying to plan my route, I can't see the CANCEL and SELECT function at the bottom of the screen!!! WHY???

This map is better than google maps surprisingly. Less cluttered and it shows where all the bike lanes are without having to search for them. All while showing wind direction and weather.

I need wind rose & seasonal wind rose True black background like DOSE to save battery any true black pixel meaning no electricity consuming from battery + no temperature from same pixel

Interesting mapping. However, have you ever used viewranger app with OS mapping as well as other maps such as open mapping.

yes/no. If you use mapy.cz (which is where Windy Maps gets its map data and style from) it is possible to import from your web version with an account with Mapy.cz . I cant find a way to access Windy Maps just the navigation tool not the weather web app.

the application is very interesting and the project is also very nice. however i can't set the path i want to do. for example, if I set Carcassonne-Setè it suggests me take an alternative route to the one I would like to do (canal du midi) and I cannot set what I need. where am i wrong? bye thank you

Hmm.. Try adjusting the different navigation modes? From shortest route to touring route for example? Good luck 👍

Route from Promenade du Lido to Gare Route 147.8 km • 9:38 hrs mapy.cz/s/rakogopeca (this is in cycling mode instead)

Possibly a dumb question - when I've created and saved a walking route can I create a driving route to the start of the walk?

Yes but they are separate routes.

@@TheOneGoodRoad Thanks. I was hoping that there might be a quicker way, such as dropping a marker on the start of the walk and navigating to that. Trouble is when I do that I get another walking route.

For a app that's called Windy Maps, it's pretty sad that you can't see the wind direction on the map.

Well you can see wind prediction on the route planner and that's why they have a dedicated app for wind predictions.

The app was bought by the Czech internet portal Seznam.cz and is continuously developed under the name Mapy.cz. I've been using it since 2018 or even 2017 and still think it's great. 🙂
