A story of degrees. ERRATA ALERT: I'm not happy with my discussion of slope and aspect toward the end of this cast. For a more accurate treatment of these subjects, check out my more recent on Slope and Aspect, please.

I would love to see an in depth cast on Canada's wine regions (Okanagan, Lake Erie, Niagara, PEC, Nova Scotia), because it seems any coverage we get in the rest of the world is just "well of course they make ice wine, they live in igloos". Perhaps as a supplement, coverage of Niagara Peninsula in New York State, as it seems much less developed than the Ontario side. Love your videos, they're informative and detailed but without unnecessary filler!

Interesting video. What about wines from Patagonia? The southernmost vineyards in the world are now reaching down to 47º, I doubt they can make it further south

Yet another great winecast! I have heard lots of tales about Ethiopian cuisine, but not about their wines! Would love to hear more about African countries and their wine production. Thumbs up!

Ethiopia's more famous for its honey wine, Tej, but a French company, Castel, has been making wine from vinifera there. The guardian had a great article about it: www.theguardian.com/world/2014/jul/23/first-bottles-ethiopian-wine-castel Enjoy!

The Unknown Winecaster I just read the article. Unbelievable stuff! I really find wine from "rural" and unexpected areas of the world to be so appealing. Thanks for sharing! 🍷😄

Glad to here! Please do check out my dedicated cast on Slope and Aspect, though, as I have a better grasp and presentation of the issues related to slope there than on this cast. Cheers!

Thank you! Please be sure to check out the Slope and Aspect cast as it covers material that I covered at the end of this cast but in a much more accurate way. Cheers!

Greetings from Colorado! I am currently studying for a certification and am enjoying your series of casts here. It's nice to mix the medium of study resources. Thank you! Do you have a cast covering climate zones? Cheers, Stacey

Greetings from Seattle! I'm glad they're helpful and, of course, thanks for taking the time to watch them. I've been thinking of doing a cast on the Winkler Index and heat summation, were you thinking of something like that or did you have something else in mind?

Thanks for the quick response! I was looking for a review of Mediterranean climate, Maritime climate, climate zones, etc. A subject that seems to make my head spin and need some help with.

OK, I got ya. That's actually a good topic: straightforward, easy to manage and would be useful to someone trying to certify or just trying to figure out what sorts of wines they'll get from a particular region. I may bump that toward the front of the queue, though it may still take me a couple of weeks to get to. Thanks for the suggestion!

I think that you forgot to mention Brazil as a quality wine producer. Consider to have more information about the wineries in Bento Gonçalves, Rio Grande do Sul. If you need some help just let me know. Cheers!!!

My first cast was on European Union Quality Wine Classification and that's a good one to start with if you're unfamiliar with the EU quality framework, and then you can check out the casts on similar frameworks in France, Italy, Spain, Germany and the U.S. That said, doing nothing but quality frameworks for 6 videos in a row can be a little much, so you should feel free to jump around to where ever your interests take you. I hope that's helpful. Thanks and cheers!

Really bothered you did not mention Virginia when discussing USA vineyards. VA has several dozen wineries that makes wines as good as CA and Europe such as Barboursville, King, RdV, and Horton. VA has moved to #5 on the list of producing states and will soon take New Yorks position (especially since NY makes mainly non-vinifera).

I hear good things about Virginia wine, so thanks for writing in with that information and for taking the time to rep for the state. Cheers!

I'm currently reading a book called "Uncorking the Caucasus" by Dr Matthew Horkey. It's all about wines from Turkey, Georgia and Armenia. They say it's difficult to get a hand on all the wines in Turkey because of the lack of information and the government is slowing the wine industry with their religious beliefs.
