Because of that video 10 years ago, I looked up Lyte Burly online. I then proceeded to take Lyte Burly’s online course. The result: After 500+ days with 500+ lessons I was the first person to pass that course and become a certified instructor under Lyte Burly online. Lyte also came to Denmark to visit and to test me. I like your channel, your content and your open and honest approach. I want to thank you for that video 10 years ago, which set me on my path. I’m still teaching and I have a small RU-vid channel featuring 52 Blocks. Thank you again for your content. Salute Flemming from Denmark Aka coach Magic Burly

Two warriors , two great minds speaking here. Pay attention to the message they deliver. Lyte Burly is my teacher and I’m a certified instructor under him, because of Dominic Izzo. Was it not for that video 10 years ago, I would not have found Lyte and taken his online course. I hold Lyte in great regard and I’m a fan of Dominic Izzo for his content and for his ability to convey his honest opinion in a constructive and respectful manner, always. I also respect his martial prowess. Thank you to both men. Salute Flemming From Denmark Aka Coach Magic Burly

I’m a modern martial arts practitioner and I really like your guys stuff and I’ve stolen and used much of it it’s really helped my inside fighting, I used to have a hard time getting in the clinch initiating grappling sequences or out of the pocket and chipping at the legs (my two most dangerous ranges as a kickboxer and bjj practitioner) and now I can intermingle long enough to pull off a devastating takedown and then work to a submission or do enough damage in the pocket to back them up for kicks and straight punches

Love union between two warriors and gentleman. You both are so humble and love the discussion. Im amateur at best with both my boxing and wing chun, and love to explore 52 blocks and jailhouse rock. I have followed both your channels and will continue to do so. Much love and respect to Mr Burly and Mr Izzo all the way from Detroit MI. 💯👊

Circa 2002 or something like that, Lyte and I touched hands and he gracefully showed me that I didn't have the firepower that I needed. Lotta youtubers like the cheese sao. In Tompkins Square Park, you try cheese sao, these guys will enjoy giving you whatever level beating you would like to learn from. I was looking to see if Sifu Grados is still training.

What saddens me is one day both these men will be gone and we will have is the example they set. I pray both these men live long lives, qnd that when they do finally move on they are forever remembered as the warriors they really were. Qnd also remembered for what they gave back to this Martial Arts Community.

Also I completely agree w them. The spiritual enlightenment I've found through Wrestling and Sanda/Kickboxing has really helped me grow as a person. We are seeing a pinnacle of two men's evolutions converging and I don't this people understand how amazing this interaction between the two really is.

Lyte is more right than he probably knows. Within the next ten years every rifle will have an optic that predicts the bullet's impact point and its a real question what is going to happen to traditional marksmanship skills.

This is a great discussion. what you said about not throwing out wing chun and how you're not gonna do bjj. Why don't you try it? Not saying I think it's better than wing chun by any stretch. I just get the sense that with your background in wrestling that it would be something you'd enjoy. Hell if nothing else would make for a neat video.

@@52blocksinfo hey Mr. Burly. Thanks for sharing your style...it is so useful as a fitness regimen for both shoulder girdle mobility and nervous system regularity...and I reverse engineered how to strangle a mofo with a pair of boxers or a couple plastic grocery bags from movements I saw in a sensei mo video. People talk smack about 52 blocks... but if they could put 2 and 2 together and use its movements for whatever suits them personally, it is such a rich resource for ideas.

@@52blocksinfo p.s. love that "make useless men useful" wisdom. I've found that statement to be so true in my own life. My usefulness is to be openly kind to the local homeless that most of the bitch-ass untrained local residents are too scared of to approach. That screaming lunatic might actually be a 60 year old woman with tears falling down her face if you get close enough to see who she actually is...

@@52blocksinfo Much respect to both MJW and Bruce. That being said, it's important to point out that Bruce's first two students in 1959 were combat sport competitors PRIOR to meeting Bruce (1st student was a top ranked Judoka, the other was a former Pro Boxer). Both of them were 200 plus pounds, and both were incredibly impressed by Bruce after they touched hands with him. By Ed Hart's (pro boxer and bouncer) own words, he couldn't land anything on Bruce, no matter how hard he tried. Other Seattle students of Bruce also had amateur boxing experience (Doug Palmer, Skip Ellsworth, James DeMile). Bruce hit incredibly hard and fast for his size, by testimony from countless people. Even the great (and not always friendly towards Bruce) Joe Lewis, who trained regularly with world class heavyweight boxers and Karate champions, admitted that Bruce was the "fastest person that ever stood in front of me", and that Bruce "hit like a heavyweight" (his words). I agree with you Mr. Burly on your overall message though, in that too many Wing Chun heads waste time trying to "emulate" Bruce, but have none of his physical attributes. Big respect both you and Dom Izzo's dedication to martial arts.

@@AztecUnshaven SALUTE WARRIOR great great and reasonable response I hear you and I’m sure Bruce could hit beyond his weight class cause he was always training but nature is undefeated there is a reason why as powerful as a leopard is when it sees a male lion it hurry’s and runs up a tree to hide as humans (mammals) we are no different size matters when the fight is really on thank you for responding the way you did I truly appreciate it SALUTE

Fascinating that you are essentially saying wrt Bruce and Mike Tyson: All that matters is Mike's size -- and he would beat Bruce and it should be super obvious.. The fact that Bruce had dozens of other fighting skills beyond boxing, trained just as much as Mike, had many more options of fighting besides boxing doesn't even come into play, it's clear to you Bruce would lose because he was smaller? So the next time you're teaching a small person or woman your crappy Wing Chun go ahead and reflect on that and make sure you tell them that if their attacker is larger they might as well just give up...
