"I believe no single style is superior. It's just that the people who practice them have different skill levels. Competitions can help uncover our weakness and lead us to a path of self-discovery... for our true enemies are but ourselves." Huo Yuanjia to Tanaka in "Fearless". Catches it exactly.
@@CoranceLChandler 1) it's a quote from one of Jet Li's movies. 2) it says that no single style is superior. It says nothing about efficiency. Continued practice will lead to greater efficiency. Do continue your practice. You will come to understand.
This is a great basic tutorial video. Not only it explains the principles of Wing Chun, but efficiently demonstrates the basic movements. I learned a lot from this. Time to test it in a fight!
If you've watched Ip Man, the instructor is actually Ip Man's first student from Ip Man 2, Wong Leung. Wong Leung and Ip Man were also both teachers of Bruce Lee.
I know a lady who is good friends with the lady that originally developed wing chun. Old ass Chinese lady's that would kick all our asses simultaneously
@@dalegribble60 the first one was funny! But since you direct it specifically to me. Some of us actually go out and get into real fights to make sure it works. It’s only the ones who don’t use it in real fights who get embarrassed.
Yes! Finally a channel that shows wing chun as a step by step rather then the expectation that we all know. I loved the video. I subbed. Thank you for posting this.
I also had the privilege of meeting and training twice with Wong Shun-leung, a true master & a very nice guy. Very polite & humble in his personality. I will never forget meeting & training with you here in Sydney. RIP to a legend of Wing Chun (Vin Sun)
Wing Chung looks like a fun and very effective Martial Arts to learn! Thanks very much for the video. Very fun and informative. I found myself mimicking instructor's movements. Wow, this is really cool! Gonna have to find a school that teaches Wing Chung! :)
More, I need more! Lol. Thanks for sharing. I find this video very informative. And I don’t get distracted by all the surroundings and side talk from other instructional videos. 👍👍
This video is still the very best instructional video on Wing Chun. It is very sad to see A LOT of Wing Chun deviating from a lot of these basic principles. I have seen a lot of classes where they do not use sandbags to condition the hands.
This. is better and more concise complete explanatory demonstrative clear than any years of tutoring lessons practice training and anything else ive seen. the only thing that threw me was the music. so you never actually get (substantially) internally injured if you're doing this right it's flowing
THis is just what I learnt off my old Wing Chun teacher (Sifu Ian Protheroe), really usable immediately, and great techniques. If you just practiced what you saw in this 9min clip for a year, you would have enough Wing Chun to protect yourself at least!! Fights only last about 10 seconds, and once your opponent realizes you can stop his king hits,,,they will back off.
Why is it that every martial art video I see the comments section becomes a forum People have their reasons for practicing martial arts, it is bad enough that TCMA took a blow from consecutive wars and a cultural revolution it does not need to be turned into a religion too
i use many wing chun blocks for mma and fighting off my back and it works in real life situations.. maybe not all of it but some of the defensive movements do work..
yay this video is awesome i clicked it just to see if there was something that i didn't know,,, thankfully there WAS things that i didn't know...and i LEARNED THEM!!!! HURRAY FOR THE COGNITIVE CAPACITY TO LEARN THINGS!
You're 100% correct! Funny story - I've studied since I was 8 years old - first Karate, boxing, TKD and then Lotus Kung Fu. When I was about 24 I started bodybuilding - I looked like a pro body builder at 240, 5% body fat at best shape. Then I started training in Kung Fu again. Holy F@#$, I was SOOOO slow! And even though I was physically so much stronger (benching about 460) my punches had no snap or power! Now, 10 years later I'm down to 212 and I got that power and speed back!
your right but it is bc it gets over powered by brute force and in combat sports people usually know a lot of styles. also, they use tackling techniques and wing chun is void on the ground.
Don't you see the punches he made after defense ? It is the only art that can be applied both for defense, offense in a street fight and especially when you have more than one opponent.
I have been a practitioner since the early 70's and I respectively disagree. I call it self-offense. It requires you to continue until you have taken out your opponent. Start by defending then offense until finished.
Understanding the principles and techniques prior to joing the actual drill would be a big advantage for the beginners like me. I wanted to know everything about wingchun before i start my sessions. Thank you l!!!
@@Aaron-uv5nq try wing chun against a muay thai guy. it would be embarrassing.

It just shows that the /Yee Jee Kim Yeung Ma/ practicing stance is not meant for fighting - it doesn't stabilize you in the sagittal plane. The guy can flex around in the two other planes easily, though.
@@bonesthecreator4984 my mans, did I talk about wing Chun only or did I literally say "any fighting technique"? I stick with my point. training any martial art is superior to not training at all so how about stop talking about what may thai could do and go start training you'll see it indeed is very practical and useful!
쪼가리 It is not just using the horse stance only dumb ass. As a teenager I was boxing so I use the stances I used in boxing and incorporated wing chun with it. It's not that boxing is better than wing chun, but incorporating both styles into what fits.
One of the best 泳春拳 training video made and watch in English. This video give proper sub-title and headers to each stroke and techniques while other video tends to focus on the trainer instruction. Reason could be the other videos may be promotional video to train at the trainers' martial art schools.
I live in San Diego and am currently being instructed by Sifu Roger Angeli. He started in 1962 with master Criss Chan in San Francisco. Master Chan studied with Yip Man himself in the early 50's and his classmate was the famous Bruce Lee. Mr. Angeli has over 40 years of expierence in Wing Chun.
I have studied choy li fut and some wing chun. Although it is dated the content is accurate and useful in it's detail. It more than outlines fundamental concepts.
Here are some schools in NC to look for, Innovative Wing Chun in Franklin, NC , Wing Tsun Kung Fu in Charlotte, and RDU Wing Chun in Raleigh. Hope it helps a little.
